• Was close to where I had my conference.
• It looked like an asylum, the inside seemed old and dirty.

“We stayed here just for the sheer convenience of it being near a conference. The inside smelled like mothballs and had the decor of a 1970's horror flick. In fact we thought we were in the Overlook Hotel when walking down the long hall to our room. The room was chock full of fluorescent lights, an old AC that was covered in dust. However, the bed and pillows were quite comfy and easy to sleep in, and they gave nice "help you sleep" stuff.”

“This hotel was a pleasant surprise. After reading so many negative reviews I didn't know what to expect, but the staff was friendly and the bed was very comfortable. The check in and check out was a breeze. I would definitely stay here again.”

• Value for accommodations. Many amenities. Good security. Lots of hot water. Quiet. Nice Lounge.
• Rooms and amenities could be updated.

“We have been guests on two separate occasions and will again. The location isn't the most convenient for our visits, yet the value is so exceptional we go out of our way to stay here if time affords.”

• Pretty, comfortable, and a very friendly and helpful staff.
• The only negative was the bathroom was somewhat dated. It did have everything we needed though.

“We had a short but pleasant stay in this hotel. The bed was very comfortable, and the room was clean. The staff was outstanding, both helpful and friendly. It was a great location central to all places in Columbus for us. I liked the card secured elevator. I have never seen that before.”

• I liked the bright welcoming lobby and the friendly host that greeted us.
• Area around industrial but still very attractive.

“The Grand Plaza was quiet and a restful destination for our family. We were only in town for one evening so we interested in a comfortable clean room and pool. We would definitely visit this hotel again when we travel to Columbus. We were also thrilled to get our price! With the price of gas we probably would not have traveled if lodging had been too expensive.”

• The staff was helpful and friendly. The Pool and fitness center were more than adequate for my one night stay.
• There was quite a bit of noise on our floor along with a guest who was smoking inside of there room.

“This is a great hotel for a short weekend or a few night stay. Common areas are very well kept and nicely manicured. Rooms are a little less attractive, but sufficient. We enjoyed indoor/outdoor heated pool as a family.”

• The sleep advantage beds were great. We got a great nights sleep.
• I made 2 long distance phone calls using total minutes of 8. I was charged $29 for those.

“The hotel is nice, with the exception of a few staff, everyone else was great. Our bathtub would not drain all weekend. We had to work with it and then just let it set. I made two calls from the room to check on my kids, each were only 4 minutes in duration. Upon checking out I was notified that a $29 fee would be charged to my card for these. This was a unexpected expense that I had not planned on. I usually travel on a budget and this did not help. Maybe a charge by the minute listed by the phone, so travelers don't have that shock when signing out.”

• The hotel is well maintained, clean and the staff are nice and hospitable.
• I found nothing that I did not like about this hotel.

“I recently broke my leg, needing a first floor room, for my convenience. I spoke to the desk clerk, she arranged for a first floor room close to the entrance so that my wife would not have to carry the luggage very far. The room was also a handicapped accessible room which was very nice since I have problems accessing showers and such with crutches. The staff was very nice and accommodating in helping when we arrived at the hotel.”

• I liked everything.

“This one was over the top. Incredibly beautiful inside and out. Our room was luxurious with an extremely comfortable bed with down comforter and down pillows. The room was decorated with very high end furniture and had every amenity. The facilities at the hotel were awesome and the banquet rooms we saw were incredible. The cleaning staff does not start until after 9A.M. which I particularly appreciate. Fresh fruit and home baked cookies were on the counter to be taken as snacks at all hours. Thanks again, you've outdone yourself.”

• The hotel provided snacks at the check in desk. This was good for a quick snack for the children.
• The bath room had a small amount of mold growing above the bathtub.

“The Marriott North Columbus was a very nice hotel. The rooms and furnishings were very nice. The staff was friendly and helpful. Access to the hotel is convenient and close to many restaurants and attractions. I would choose this Marriott in the future, if visiting the Columbus area,”

• This facility met our every expectation.

• The beds were very comfortable.
• The brewery smell. Not enough cream for the coffee.

“Columbus Marriott North is located just south of the Annheiser Busch brewery. The smell that can come from the brewery is about the only negative I can think of. Fortunately, the smell does not extend inside the hotel. I was impressed by the courtesy of the desk staff. When I checked in, the manager asked me what kind of room I would like smoking or non, king or two doubles, any combination I wanted. Did not tart me like a second class citizen. The rooms were very spacious and clean, and the beds were extremely comfortable. Very nice pool, sauna, and exercise room. One other negative. The Starbucks in the gift shop made a HORRIBLE cafe mocha. ”

“This hotel was clean and comfortable and in a quiet "business" area, so traffic was minimal, parking was free and abundant, yet we were 5 minutes off of I-71 and only about 8 minutes from the Polaris Mall and its surroundings.”

• unruly maids woke up the entire floor on Sunday AM

“Security was nonexistent, unable to handle problems, ie: woman in next room, locked out of her room, banging on door, screaming loudly for 30 minutes... at 2am Sunday morning... front desk unaccomodating, refusing to call the police. and then the maids knocked loudly on "every" door on my floor, Sunday morning at 8:20AM wanting to get in to start their cleaning. It almost felt like this was a (boot camp) priceline floor and we were being told to wake up and get moving. Their inability to speak or understand English was obnixious and passive-aggressive. Putting so many people on the defensive, while aggrevating them is inexcusable. Front desk seemed amused but promised to speak with them. (I'm not sure what language they use?)Checkout time was not until noon. Returning to a Marriott is not an option.”

“Conveniently located, nice room and facilities. Very helpful staff. Glad to have fitness room with weights, treadmill and TVs. Also, 3 portable exercise options (e.g., rubber tubes) that can be brought to your room, plus nice indoor and outdoor pools. Excellent for leisure and business travelers, with business center available - free PC, some free copies at copier, and more. Well run hotel, and would gladly return if in that area again.”

• The staff was top notch. The restaurant was fabulous. The pool was awesome.

“The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They had cookies waiting at the check in. Check in was quick and easy. The room was very posh, with all the amenities you could ask for. They had in room coffee and tea. A refrigerator and micorwave was there too. The restaurant was awesome. Well worth the visit. The hot tub was relaxing, as was the beautiful, indoor-outdoor pool. The experience was off the scale.”

• Very professional staff, nice rooms, nice water pressure.
• The room was very cold when we entered; the air conditioner was set at 50 degrees

“Our stay at the Columbus NOrth Marriott was very plesant. The staff was very helpful and accomodating. The room was great, good view, good temperature control and good water pressure. Having paid approximately 1/2 the price listed on most travel sites, the stay was better than expected.”
