• The beds were so comfortable and the staff was so cheerful and eager to please.
• The bathroom was the only downfall - not quite as clean as I would expect, but it did not ruin my experience.

“I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Detroit wishing to experience Detroit nightlife! We were warmly greeted at the door and notified of the free shuttle service to downtown hot spots - anywhere within a 5 mile radius from the hotel was a free trip for any guests until 10:45pm - a fantastic deal! It definitely saved us money that would have been spent on a couple cab rides! The bed was very comfortable, the view was pretty - overlooking the river, and room service for breakfast was surprisingly reasonable and delicious! I cannot express how attentive the staff was to our needs, and I will definitely pick the Omni Hotel in Detroit for any future stays in the city.”

• The beds were extremely comfortable.
• Couldn't find on GPS had to call for directions, no pool for kids.

• Excellent value. Clean, safe and very friendly staff.
• Not really modern, and bar in basement. No pool if you have kids.

“It was great for the value. It is not easy to find without a GPS. The free shuttle is a great thing, as it is complimentary. The rooms were clean. Yes it is an older building, but the friendly staff and welcoming they provide makes it all worth it. $18.00 parking is the price of doing business in downtown. It felt safe and had a wonderful view. Don't try walking home from the downtown(Joe Louis) at night. We did and it took 50 minutes. It was not a great experience. We just choose not to wait for the shuttle and traffic. Don't do what we did.”

• The service was great!
• The restaurant/bar looked as if it was in a basement. Not too attractive or inviting.

“Security was fine. A little too far away from downtown, but they offered a shuttle service. The staff was friendly, but the restaurant/bar area looked as though it was in a basement. Not real attractive, but the breakfast food was great!”

• Hotel Shuttle never showed up to pick us up, my 12 yr old son and I waited for over an hour. Got a cab!

“The hotel experience was fine upon arrival! We took the hotel shuttle to a local sporting event. My 12 yr old son and i was instructed and assured that the shuttle would pick us up at a designated spot after the event. We called the hotel shuttle numerous times after the game and it never showed up! We were told for over an hour that it was en route! After 1 hr in the rain we got a cab with some other folks from the hotel that were disgusted as well! It's always nice being caught at 12:00 am downtown Detroit, Michigan with a 12 yr old! FYI - the other folks said that it had happened to them the year before.”

• It was a very lovely place. Very clean.
• Although the room looked nice,
  I feel it was small.

“From the time I walked in, until check out, the staff was very friendly and accommodating. We ate from the hotel restaurant, and the food was nicely presented, and delicious. It was a great place to get away for a day.”

• Not quite as close to downtown as I would like, but the shuttle made up for it.

“In an older industrial area of Detroit that has seen a resurgence of rehabilitation of factories into condos. Great views of the river.”

“The hotel was located right on the Detroit River. Our room had an excellent view of Windsor, Ontario. The hotel staff and restaurant staff met all of my expectations, and the room was very nice. I enjoyed every minute of my stay there.”

• All of the employees were great, very friendly and helpful.

“We really enjoyed our stay at the Omni Hotel. Our room and the hotel itself is very clean. It was pretty quite and the river walk is very nice. All of the staff were very friendly, by the time we left we felt like they were part of our family. I will stay here again anytime I come to Detroit.”

• Spacious rooms, comfortable plush beds, and beautiful view.
• Hard to find. Joseph Campeau is not a marked street from Jefferson avenue, so it was a little hard to find.

“The Omni in Detroit provided fast and efficient service. Our room was beautiful and comfortable with properly working amenities. I wish I'd one more day just to enjoy the location on the river and to check out my surroundings inside and out.”

• Location of the hotel and the professionalism of the staff.
• The hotel is not kid friendly, meaning their is no indoor or outdoor pool for children, and the restaurant bar is not a place for children to eat.

“This hotel is excellent for business travelers, couples for a romantic get away or leisure travelers without young children. I would recommend the hotel to friends that are planning a business or pleasure trip to Detroit.”

• Location, view, intimate size of hotel, comfort of bed.
• The only parking option offered by the hotel was valet, which was $18 per day.

“This hotel is quaint, and in a safe quiet location. All the room amenities were pretty standard. A few things I did not like about the hotel: Peeling paint in several areas of the room (i.e. shower), toilet paper was 1-ply (that's so cheap), and the only parking offered by the hotel is valet parking at $18 per day. Note about parking: After doing some exploring, I found a secured parking garage a few blocks away at only $5 per night, but the hotel staff won't tell you that. The other complaint I might add is that our room was nearly on top of a wedding reception. We heard every song, loud and clear, until about 1 am. Thankfully we did not have to get up early the next morning. Overall it was a good place to stay for the excellent price. The bed was super comfortable, the view of Canada is great, and everything downtown is close by.”

• There was a wedding going on and through all the commotion we were helped immediately when we walked in the door.
• I wanted Downtown Detroit. It was not in walking distance from everything else I did that night. 3 miles away.

• Location was perfect, nice view of city skyline, nice furnishings.
• Room service breakfast was cold and didn't get the order right.

“Loved the hotel, was an excellent value for price. The view from our room was gorgeous, had a beautiful layout for the pool and tennis courts! Hotel had numerous restaurants (Starbucks!) and convenience stores attached. Excellent wine collection in lobby!”

• The restaurant was a bar, it was not as classy as the rest of the hotel.

“The hotel is set up for hotel staff to receive tips for parking & bringing in luggage. It is not set up for the average traveler to bring their own baggage in nor park their own car. It's almost like a gimmick. As a consumer, you should have the right to do for yourself without having to tip someone else to do the job.”

• I liked the friendliness of staff. We enjoyed the river and being able to see Canada and huge boats directly outside the back of hotel.
• They had very few rooms with double beds, but accommodated us the following day.

“The lobby was a bit out dated, but the rooms were beautiful and clean. The best part was the outdoor restaurant near the river with the view of Canada. That was definately a plus.”

• Huge room and soft bed.
• Elevator needs work.

“Its a bit dated. The elevator needs some work and the shower was a bit tricky. The shuttle stops running at 10:00 PM which does not help much. The room was very big and had a great bed and very nice bedding. Huge window in the room let in a lot of light. Marble bathroom floors was nice as well. Great view and river walk outside of the hotel. Valet service was good.”

• Clean, friendly, right on River. Restaurant is causal, but good food.
• Some of the surrounding area near main road was not to safe looking.

“Was worried driving to hotel, area seemed unsafe, however when we did find hotel, grounds were great and safe. Staff was very friendly, rooms were very nice and clean. Located right on river. Restaurant casual, more basement setting, but food was actually very good. Shuttle takes you into main area. We stayed to see a Tiger's game. PS also see the Ford museum if you go. We liked this hotel very much.”

• Great bang for the buck, great view from the Riverfront.
• Distance from main attractions, secluded warehouse area, inability to walk anywhere outside the hotel.

“Hotel was one of the few choices of where to stay in Detroit. On a pro side, the hotel is facing the beautiful renovated river front, which is a great place for a walk/run. Also, the friendliness of the staff is great. We were relying on the shuttle service, and Manwar, our trusted shuttle driver, was very helpful in giving us rides and picking us up several times a day. Free wireless Internet was very fast, which is a surprise as of late. On a con side, the hotel is located in secluded warehouse district area, with nothing (except for a restaurant club, which was closed during our stay there, and a local brewery) to do or see within the walking distance. Room, facilities and amenities are standard and did not contribute to either positive or negative impressions. Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel, because it provides the greatest bang for the buck.”

• The price for the location.
• The hallways and rooms very old fashion.

“I liked the value for the room, but the hotel hallways and rooms have a feel like you are in the 70's and definitely not in the new millennium. The entire hotel kind of reminded me of that movie where Jack Nicholson lost his mind I think it was called the Shining. I didn't see any other guests and their check-in desk is literally just a desk that is smaller than the one I use at work.”

• Bathroom - no hot water, poor drainage in shower, also couldn't regulate temp of room.

“Great service, cute room with very comfy bed and view of river. But didn't have consistent hot water in shower, shower didn't drain well, loud noise until 11 PM (hotel hosted a prom in a room right below ours). Location not great but the free shuttle was very efficient and took us everywhere we wanted to go.”

• The follow-up service I got from the front desk clerk.
• Old, dining facilities needed upgraded. Parking $18.00 a night ridicules.

“The front desk clerk needs to be recognized. Had a problem with my room, she took care of it and sent a cheese tray to my room, nice touch. It needs a face lift. Nice location on the river. The amenities need brought back to life. After all it is an Omni property.”

• Touch of old world charm in downtown Detroit, great location on river, wonderful staff.
• Nothing we loved it.

“For visitors to Detroit who want to step back from the casino and sport scene, this is a great option. Close enough to join in or not, just sit on the patio and watch the boats roll down the river. Small staff, appeared overextended, but always cheerful, pleasant and accommodating.”

“The building seemed to have been renovated recently. They did a very good job. Due to it being off the beaten path and surrounding area not as nice as the property itself I would be hesitant to recommend it to a young family or elderly person. The interior staff was very professional and the room comfortable.”
