• Large flat screen TVs and waterfall in atrium.
• The renovations were not one and there were very few guests.

“Although renovations in this hotel were not finished and many common areas were not open, comfort level was high. The hot breakfast buffet was fantastic, the room was nicely appointed and the lobby/lounge will be beautiful when complete.”

• Very quiet and homelike atmosphere.

“Although this hotel was just finishing renovations we really enjoyed our stay, it was very quite, beds where very comfortable, they offered complimentary breakfast including omelets made to order and 3 free happy hour drinks per night. The staff was friendly and we really enjoyed our stay, it was a great location in Troy. Once renovated it will be a beautiful hotel.”

• Wanted us to change rooms for 2nd night stay.

“The hotel was under renovation. Many of the services were not accessible or not convenient for use. There were no business services that were available with some level of privacy. We wanted a 2 night stay and were told 2 times that we would not have to move. On the 2nd day, we were locked out of our room and had to wait a half hour to get back into our room. They were nice enough to place a package in our room as requested for a surprise for my spouse, but we were locked out of the room, so it took some of the romance out of the moment. The breakfast was delicious, even though their regular dining room was not available. Thumbs up to their waitress, she was awesome and would come back just for her service. Overall, I would give this hotel another chance, after they finished their renovation. It was an okay experience. The room was superior. Thanks.”

• I loved the fact that their standard included a full breakfast as well as complimentary cocktails.
• The hotel was under renovations at the time and we would have preferred staying at a hotel which was not.

“Once the renovation at the Embassy is completed I believe their projected amenities will be comparable to 5 star hotels. As well I don't think it's fair to offer hotels which are undergoing such extensive renovations as the Embassy is undergoing. Such renovations are a distraction and hotels undergoing such extensive renos may not be a good inclusion with respect to your roster.”

• I have never dealt with such helpful, friendly staff. Very informative.
• There was nothing! We loved it!

“There is major construction going on in the hotel, which I knew. They did everything in their power to accommodate everyone so that it did not interfere with your stay. I have three young children, so their complimentary hot breakfast was wonderful. The pool was perfect. I have nothing negative to say. It was a great experience. We will definitely be back.”

“Why would you ever stick a customer in a hotel that was under construction/being renovated? There was no lobby. They had a makeshift one at the back of the building in the service entrance. We had to ride the rickety old service elevator to our room. This was our anniversary and my wife was on my case the whole 24 hours for the hotel we got stuck in. I asked for the highest star-rated hotel available. This wasn't even a 1-star hotel in the condition it was in; not worth even $25. Furthermore, we asked for spoons for breakfast for our cereal. We had to wait 15 minutes for a spoon! I'm asking for compensation from you for this awful experience.”

• The breakfast was good and the room itself was great.
• Major construction was going on very disruptive.

“This hotel was under major construction and this was not even acknowledged by the front desk besides where the temporary facilities were located. I chose this hotel chain because of previous experience. Tarp was all throughout the hallways and we had to use the service elevator to get to our room. Jackhammers were being used when we checked in. I was fairly disappointed knowing how nice an Embassy Suites can be.”

• It was being newly renovated and had a free made to order breakfast included.
• We were put in a room that did not smell right at first, but we were upgraded immediately.

“It was a great hotel. Really close to freeways, shopping and restaurants. The breakfast was really yummy. The beds and decor were really comfortable.”

• The omelets werent cooked all the way and sections were under construction.

“This hotel was located in a very nice area. Upscale shopping is close by and not too far from trendy Royal Oak. The rooms were clean and very nice. The staff was very attentive and pleasant. This hotel sets a nice image of Detroit.”

• Loved the free manager's reception & hot breakfast.
• Pool full of foul-mouthed grade-schoolers with no supervision.

“Manager's reception and hot breakfast were a nice, unexpected, surprise. Room was clean and included a fridge and microwave; mattress on pull-out sofa was very worn and flat. Employee in gift shop quite unfriendly but desk staff were very pleasant. Manager needs to enforce the "no children in pool area without supervision".”

• Very clean and the free breakfasts were awesome!
• Kids were running up and down the hallways all night and very early yelling and screaming, it made it hard to sleep.

“This was a very enjoyable experience except for the kids outside our room that were making a lot of noise and running all over the place. I have 3 children, so I would hate to see this go to a place where they are not welcome, but feel people should be told that children must be with an adult and not be allowed to run wild as was the case during my visit.”

• Not a very nice pool and hot tub was dirty and broken.

“Good value for the $ we paid, but hotel room bathroom wasn't in good shape. Cracked tub and sink. Pool was small and over crowded with kids. Hot tub was broken and appeared dirty. On the upside, complementary drinks and cooked to order breakfast was great.”

• The hot tub was not working properly, and 2 short phone calls cost $45.00.

“We have stayed there in the past and the service was kind of shaky, but since the ownership change the service is phenomenal. The staff, without exception treated us like royalty. We will definitely stay there in the future.”

• I really enjoyed the cooked to order breakfast and evening reception.

“This was my second time staying at this hotel twice in three months, my husband and I had a great time. If you have a family and want to get away also a great place to take the family. The staff is great, food is great, the hotel is wonderful!”

“Excellent experience with this hotel. The evening reception (3 free drinks) is a wonderful way to wind down from a hectic day; the (free) custom-made breakfasts are a great way to start the day. The rooms are very comfortable, and the exercise room is more than adequate.”

• Did not have to go looking for a restaurant for my evening meal.

“When I arrived at the hotel I lost a screw out of my glasses. The manager of the card shop/gift shop had the tools and screws to fix my glasses.
His help was above and beyond normal and it is acts like this that make customers want to come back. Which I will.”

• Breakfast buffet was excellent and included.
• Indoor pool and hot tub were frigid. It was zero degrees, but it is Detroit in winter. Thus, pool was ice cold and not able to use and kids were sad.

• That they offer free drinks, and the complimentary breakfast had so much to offer.
• The fact that I was put in a handicap room even though I am not handicapped.

“The hotel has allotted to offer, the exercise room, pool, sauna and hot tub were great. However, I was a little discouraged during my dinner dining experience. The bartender seemed a bit overwhelmed. She was obviously the only one to attend to a large amount of people. There were many dirty tables around me, and I did not like how long I had to wait to order my drink. The food was great, but the whole situation was a bit uncomfortable. ”

• Tina at the reception was extremely helpful with directions, store hours, etc. She phone the store herself to find out when they close on July 4th.
• A bit old, no wireless - additional cost required!

“Nice clean rooms, beds were comfortable, no free Internet access, but did include full breakfast, not continental breakfast. Breakfast had great selections, including eggs any style.”

• I really enjoyed the cooked-to-order breakfast and manager's reception included in the price of the room. The hot tub was excellent.
• We paid extra for wireless Internet service, but the system was slow and intermittent. Thankfully, the hotel refunded us our money for this service.

“The staff was very helpful, discreet and professional. I loved having the suite with a fridge, microwave and coffee maker. I would definitely stay here again.”

• The wireless internet was not free for guests like other competing hotels.

• Thought the ambience of the hotel was superb.
• We were there for a funeral. To have to pay 11.00 dollars for my wireless computer use was just wrong.

“The hotel is located in a very nice rather private section of a business park. Service at the desk is friendly and warm. The hotel is quiet with a nice lobby and restaurant and grill. Quite special.”

• Rooms are excellent.
• Staff was not very accomadating.

“Checked in at 11:02PM and was told room service ended at 11:00 and they could not help us. My colleagues and I tried to find a restaurant but only drive thru was available. So we ordered and once we brought it back we had some items to discuss prior to next business day the cafeteria was closed the bar was closed and no room service . A security person for the hotel said we could not eat anything purcased from the outside in the atrium. We would have gladly purchase a sandwich or anything else from the hotel provided the would provide us with an option. But they said we would have to go somwhere else to buy anything to eat.”

• The spaciousness of the suites is good for families.
• This Embassy Suite is dated. Both the public areas and suites fall far short of my expectations for Hilton properties.

“At the Price, the Embassy Suites in Troy is a good buy. However, the cleanliness and overall amenities are not up to par for Hilton properties. The first room I was assigned was obviously unclean and the vending machines were unstocked. Also, the restaurant entres are grossly overpriced for the quality.”
