“I would say that this particular hotel fell short of the brand name and I would not recommend it to anyone who is looking for four star quality. For a business traveler it would be ok.”

• The customer service was outstanding. The hotel was awesome itself.
• The coffee maker in the lounge area didn't work correctly.

• No free internet. Overpriced. Cold decor. Small room.

“Nice place, but overpriced. Rated at 4 star, but have stayed in better with same ratings in other parts of the country. Seemed like I was being Nickel and Dime where other places would have been included (i.e. internet and continental breakfast items). $5 water in the room was an insult. Parking was too far away. Location was close to Henry Ford/Greenfield was a major plus. I was pretty and safe.”

• No convenient, inexpensive (or free) internet access. Biz center closed weekends. Very poor internet options.

“Very nice hotel, and I would have given it four stars if it weren't for the lack of good internet options. For once I did not bring my own laptop, and found I needed to do some business over the web over the weekend. The hotel's TV-web-surfing option was awful (and would not allow anything that involved a password). The business office was closed over the weekend, and the internet in their Perks cafe was fifty cents a minute! Just awful. Other than the broadband issues, it was a great hotel. Well-designed space, friendly staff, and convenient to Dearborn attractions. Also, they were very child-friendly, which was key since we traveled with our 4-month-old twins.”

• The ambience in the lobby was great.

“The ambience when arriving was great and the lobby was spectacular. The hotel room was nice but the bathroom was filthy and not taken care of well. Also, there was a convention of sorts for teenagers and they were terribly loud through all hours of the night. I would recommend this place only because of the distance to Comerica Park.”

• Very hard to find, no bell men around, heater in room didn't work.

“This is a 2 star hotel at best. For a 4 star I wasn't expecting a shower curtain in the bathroom with a rubber mat in the tub! Rooms are very tiny. Coffee shop closed due to lack of guest! I called the desk for extra blankets because the heater wasn't working and they never came. The bar closed some nights at 12:30 and other nights at 1:00 am. This was not a 4 star hotel. Very disappointed!”

“This is a very attractive and clean hotel. It is convenient to tourist attractions but there was a party going on in the room next door and we could literally hear entire conversations taking place. If you go bring ear plugs.”

• The guest rooms were large, nicely decorated, very comfortable and clean.
• This hotel did not seem to be sincerely concerned about each guest's comfort and satisfaction.

“This very large hotel itself was beautiful both outside and inside and the guest rooms were wonderful. Unfortunately my personal experience made this a very disappointing stay. There was a group of over 3,000 celebrating a family reunion during the time I was there. This hotel has 14 floors with an atrium in the center and all activity in the lobby can be heard throughout the hotel. Other guests were very loud and were allowed to have a party with drums, singing, and cheering in the main lobby until 3:00 AM. Children and teens ran throughout the hotel all night yelling, and slamming doors. When the Front Desk was notified I was informed that they had received several complaints. Security did intervene, but the noise began again immediately after security left. There was a party next door to my room. For my inconvenience, I was given a $5.00 coupon. No staff members apologized or checked to see if things improved, I was there for two nights. Housekeepers, Bell Hop, Valet, were very nice and professional.”

• The restaurant was super.
• The bathroom was filthy. The tub was old & dirty looking. It looked as if no had swept behind the door in years & there was hair everywhere.

“The public rooms were lovely but the room was filthy. My days at the Hyatt are over. Definitely not worth the $.”

“The lobby was fantastic, but our room seemed old and dated. The bathroom was not well-maintained and not well-appointed. Furthermore, it was dirty. Definitely not a 4-star bathroom. But the bed was comfortable and room service was delicious and prompt.”

• The way the hotel staff met my needs.
• The smoky atmosphere of the lounge and common areas as I am asthmatic.

• The check out time is at 12:00 p.m. (not too early), which allows guests to sleep in.
• This is a very minor point, but the pillows were too soft and did not provide much neck support.

“Wine and dine as the whole room rotates allowing you to look out and enjoy the scenery from the top of the Hyatt Hotel. You can see down-river, downtown Detroit, Fomoco HQ and much more. Best enjoyed on a beautiful, clear early evening.”

• Lot's of area to informally meet with the group that was staying together.
• Rooms lacked instructions on how to get internet going.

“Stay worked out very well for our group. We stayed two nights and used the hotel during the day a bit. Had no problems - in reaching for constructive criticism I come up with 3 things. 1) Breakfast buffet was good but a few hotter dish options would have been nice. 2) Cigar bar was nice and quaint but for the busy weekend that we were there - it was a little too small. 3) Room service trays, dishes, etc - sat in the hallway for extended periods of time. Very unattractive. You can see that I am reaching - we enjoyed our stay and the accommodations.”

“Hotel was large and nice lobby and facilities within. Room was good but wouldn't rate it as 4 stars. Linens were clean. Bathroom is too small and needs some redecoration. TV is not flat screen (not a big deal to me, but it is for some); there is no refrigerator in the room for drinks. There was some kind of event at the hotel and it was full of children in some kind of contests. Children were up till midnight running in the hallways making all kind of noise. The bathroom, no refrigerator in the room. TV was old.”

• Comfort and warmth of hotel and the staff, especially the doorman who helped me out of a jam.
• Nothing.

“From the greeting at the desk to the decor and comfort of the room, I was very impressed by the warmth of the hotel. I was also especially happy with the doorman and shuttle driver who helped me out of a jam when my car wouldn't start. They got me to my appointment on time and jumpstarted my car for me in one smooth move. I won't forget how well I was treated and how comfortable my night was.”

• The bathtub drain would not drain water, had to switch rooms twice!

“Overall it was nice and clean, very large and modern. But unfortunately we had to switch rooms twice from our original room because the bathtubs would not drain the water - so apparently they have pretty bad pluming on one side of the building. The location seems good, but stays away from the local mall across the parking lot - that place reeked of trouble.”

“The hotel was overrun by children in town for a hockey playoff tournament. The problem was the volume of unsupervised kids yelling, running, roaming, playing in the elevators, etc. The manager was totally useless in controlling the problem. It was like a bad movie, almost comical. I'll never stay there again.”

• Hotel was very noisy due to booking high school hockey competition.

“Hotel is located around the mall so there are plenty of restaurants around. Unfortunately the hotel decided to cater to large groups, and when I was there, they hotel seemed to be all booked by High School Hockey competition teams. There were tons of kids running around. Hyatt Hotels seem to have problem with noise level. Similar experience at SFO Hyatt. Checked in at 10 PM and did not have any 2-bed rooms that is non-smoking. Hesitant at first to take a smoking room, but it actually didn't smell that bad.”

• The employees were wonderful.

“The hotel was fine. I was accidentally booked into a room that was occupied. I asked for a room that was close to the elevator. I am disabled. They originally booked me into a room to far away. I then was booked into the occupied room. I has to go back downstairs with my luggage. You did not have a bell staff available for me. I was then booked at the back of the hotel again. It was very trying and painful for me.”

• I came in for family funeral, and found the room clean, fresh, and extremely comfortable.
• I had no other needs on this visit, except that the exit was not clearly marked from interstate.

• I liked the friendliness when we arrived at the front desk.
• My husband exchanged Canadian money for which we should have gotten if anything equal value since our Canadian dollar is higher. Instead his rec'd less.

“We enjoyed the hotel, the lobby with it's see through elevators, its Christmas decoration it was beautiful. One other thing that we did not like was not being able to have lockers in the pool area. No place to leave your clothes while one is swimming. Walking through the lobby with your bathing suite while parties are going on in the banquet rooms, it's not ideal.”

“The Hyatt in Dearborn is a nice, convenient and very attractive facility. We had a go stay there. My only complaint is that the bathroom was not fully stocked with shampoo, conditioner, and a shower cap the basic kinds of things you expect from a hotel of this caliber. It was late when we arrived and early when we left so we did not bother calling housekeeping and asking for these amenities. I'm sure if we would have, someone would have brought them to us so I can't really judge the hotel too harshly about this.”

• The lobby was big and beautiful. Wonderful Christmas decorations.
• It's hard to find if you don't know the area.

“The hotel is off Southfield hwy, but really off the service road. You have to drive around a shopping mall to get to it off the main street. There are a few good restaurants close, but you can't walk. The mall is very close, but again you can't walk to it. The hotel is one of those with a very tall lobby and the rooms surround it with the elevators in the middle. You can hear quite a bit of noise. I just needed a room for the night so it was fine. If I was staying in Dearborn for a few days of pleasure, this would not be the ideal hotel.”

• Very noisy. People congregating in halls at all hours.

“At first impression, the hotel is clean and upscale. However, the hallways were clogged with partiers (no kidding) drinking beer and smoking at all hours of the night. Also, kids were playing hockey in the halls. Even at midnight! (Again, no kidding) not at all what I was expecting from a "4 star" hotel.”
