“We loved this hotel for its historic charm and its family friendly staff. When we return to the Detroit-Metro area this summer we would love to stay at the Dearborn Inn again.” Jan 18, 2008 by
Calvin from West Branch, MI
“Did not meet my expectations for a four star hotel, regardless of discount. I've stayed in better that were rated less and cost less. Some amenities not available due to construction but management was very gracious.” Jan 11, 2008 by
Amber from Wyandotte, MI
“The cottages are wonderful in which we were lucky enough to get a free upgrade to. The staff was incredible. I bought insurance only to find out I would have to make a claim.” Jan 4, 2008 by
Josephine from Sevierville, TN
“I enjoyed my stay in a luxury hotel that the staff was friendly and very helpful.” Dec 30, 2007 by
Molly from Silver Spring, MD
“The Dearborn Inn is a lovely and elegant hotel. Marriott has done a wonderful job modernizing the hotel while still preserving its old fashioned charm. The staff is pleasant, the food is wonderful. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone.” Dec 8, 2007 by
Todd from White Lake, MI
“The hotel is outdated. Fresh paint can only cover so much. The doors have been painted so many times that they stick. The room was so small. A single queen bed is the biggest that would fit into the room. The bathroom was extremely small. There was pedestal sink with no counter space. Your leg hit the wall when you were on the toilet. The shower head was at my chin level, and I am only 6' tall. There was hair stuck to the bathroom ceiling around the inoperable exhaust fan. The floor was dirty in the bathroom and it looked like it the re-grouting was never cleaned up. This is clearly not a 4-star hotel. Additionally, we were nearly hit by a reckless snow plow driver in the parking lot (not any fault of the hotel). However, when I spoke with the hotel valet and asked that he speak with the driver or tell a manager, he stated the hotel doesn't have any control over the contracted driver and appeared to be unconvinced by my request. The price at the Dearborn Ritz Carlton is the same and the experience there is far more superior.” Nov 28, 2007 by
Ebrahim from Dublin, OH
“This place is very nice; if they pay more attention to the room as oppose to the entrance of the Hotel; the sheets on the bed had yellow spots all over them as if someone had urinated on them; the shades were spotty as well as the light fixtures; the noise lever is extra loud; we could hear every thing that was going on in the other room; and if you had kids you definitely don't want them staying there; not with that kinda noise.” Nov 28, 2007 by
Josh from Middleton, WI
“A very nice hotel overall. Because it was built in 1931 or so, the walls are a bit thin, the rooms are a little small and the hallways can be a bit louder than most, but the overall appeal, history, and charm more than make up for those minor issues. A very nice bar and lounge with a free pool table makes for a relaxing evening in the hotel without having to watch TV all night.” Nov 26, 2007 by
John from Bloomfield Hills, MI
“Excellent place to get away in the city. We went the next day to the Henry Ford museum which is almost across the street from the hotel. The food was excellent and the service was good. Room was small but extremely comfortable and convenient.” Nov 23, 2007 by
Mike from Kalamazoo
“This should be considered a boutique hotel. It is small and quaint. If you are looking for a 21st century hotel, this is not for you. If you like turn of the century architecture and feel, this is for you. The rooms are small and the furniture is very period oriented. The bathroom is small and I had to bend down for the shower. However, I was on a business trip, so I didn't mind. The room was quiet and I was in Downtown Detroit in 15 minutes the next day. The hotel was built by Henry Ford in the 1930's. It has that feel and they've done a good job in preserving the old hotel and adding some new feel. If you have kids or looking for a romantic getaway, look somewhere else. If you're looking for something outside Downtown Detroit, I would definitely book a room here. Just know that you're getting an old hotel with lots of charm. .” Nov 23, 2007 by
Mike from Kalamazoo, MI
“The hotel is very nice for business. The rooms are somewhat formal, so having children at the hotel might be a little difficult. The hotel is beautiful and close to Downtown Dearborn and the Henry Ford museum. I had a meeting in Downtown Detroit and it took me 15 minutes to get there. She was so friendly to the guy in front of me who was on the concierge level, but her attitude changed toward me. The way I look at it, the hotel got money on a room they probably wouldn't have sold. It's a win/win.” Nov 23, 2007 by
Abraham from Trail Creek, IN
“The hotel was clean and orderly. We were not guaranteed the adjoining rooms with 1 king and 2 double beds. I have 4 kids (11, 9, 7 and 11 months). We cannot put them in another room that is not connected. Joe at the desk put us in a nice 1 room suite, but that defeated the purpose of having 2 rooms so my wife and I could have some privacy.” Nov 14, 2007 by
Heather from Grosse Pointe Woods, MI
“This is a beautiful and historic building. The common areas were elegant. I was surprised at the high quality of the fitness room and equipment. It was a lovely stay !” Nov 14, 2007 by
Rene from Covington, GA
“Beautiful old world class hotel. They have small cottages behind the hotel which are like staying in a small house only thing missing is the kitchen.” Nov 9, 2007 by
Barb from Stevensville, MI
“Very quaint and full of history. The grounds are very pretty. Lobby and first floor are spacious and elegant. Staff was excellent.” Nov 8, 2007 by
Robert from Mattawan, MI
“Very attractive facility. This would be a great hotel in the summertime. It has a very large pool and tennis courts. No indoor activities for the other times of the year, but here are very nice banquet facilities it is very close to the Henry Ford museum and Greenfield village. It is not located very close to other restaurants. It is an easy trip from here to downtown Detroit.” Nov 8, 2007 by
Marguerite from Shreve, OH
“Nice hotel. Lots of local history behind it. The buildings and the grounds were nicely kept.” Oct 27, 2007 by
Lee from Midlleburg, FL
“Grand four star hotel that is great for business guests. The restaurant and breakfast buffet were superb. The grounds and entry were very intriguing. The rooms with double beds were not totally updated but the marble flooring presented quality to the room. The room did not have a refrigerator or separate living room but was small and freshly cleaned. It was not the lavish large four star hotels that I had expected but was nice. The separate building that we were assigned when we arrived reminded me of a super 6 or 8 hotel. I wanted a lavish hotel room for our anniversary not an upscale business oriented hotel. This hotel is super for business trips.” Oct 26, 2007 by
Matt from Baton Rouge, LA
“This truly should be under boutique. The room I had was not 400 sq ft including bath. The area was in a somewhat industrial area of Dearborn and though I would have been happy with the price I would not rate this as a 4 star.” Oct 25, 2007 by
Zubair from Inkster, MI
“The hotel is in a nice, safe location but the room we got was very small & unattractive, old furniture. I believe this hotel does not deserve 4 stars more like 2.5 or 3 stars.” Oct 25, 2007 by
Orlando from Ferndale, MI
“Beautiful hotel, comfortable bed. Needs an indoor pool and Jacuzzi.” Oct 24, 2007 by
Heather from Saginaw, MI
“This was the best hotel I have stayed in for the past ten years.” Oct 24, 2007 by
Joanne from Bowie, MD
“The dear born inn has a great look to it, and the room was comfortable.” Oct 22, 2007 by
Mike from Berwyn, IL
“This hotel has rooms that with a queen size bed make it very move around the room. Bathrooms were too small also.” Oct 17, 2007 by
Jennifer from Rochester, MI
“We enjoyed our stay and thought it was a good value. The food was very good and room was comfortable. The inn is charming and old and the landscaping is very nice. We would stay at this hotel again.” Oct 17, 2007 by
Denise from Washington, DC
“Definitely a place you will need a car to get to/from and also if you wish to eat away from the hotel. The room we stayed in didn't have an effective cooling control system, we were uncomfortably hot all night because the outside temperature was mild and the heavy weight bedding was too hot. The walls are very thin and you could hear everything that went on in the rooms adjoining a real disappointment as the hotel is lovely.” Oct 16, 2007 by
Helmi from Buffalo, NY
“The hotel was great in so many words, but the service is what was so bad. A housekeeping employee walked in the room, without knocking. Furthermore, to insult to injury, I called the front desk and complained. I never received a call back from the front desk manager.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Oct 14, 2007 by

“A lovely hotel with an air of old world respectability. The room was large, clean with a bed that surpassed my expectations. If nothing else, I would return for the bed! The bathroom was a tad small, but decent for a single traveler. Even though the room was older it was a comfortable and clean place to stay. The food from room service could have been better, although dessert was good.” Oct 12, 2007 by
Joan from Clemson, SC
“It was a wonderful place to visit. I had no idea the history behind this hotel and that made the visit even more fun. The grounds and buildings were elegant and tasteful. Not over done like some of the newer hotels. This place had class!” Oct 6, 2007 by
Michelle from Hamilton, MI
“Very beautiful and very historic hotel in an excellent neighborhood in Dearborn. Very close to all the attractions and great restaurants.” Oct 4, 2007 by
Tania from Dardenne Prairie, MO
“This is a charming hotel, but I think it is more appropriate for older couples with no kids. It is close to Detroit and Ann arbor. I would not likely stay there again due to the size of the room.” Oct 4, 2007 by
Erin from Chicago, IL
“The Dearborn Inn, built in 1931, had great historical significance. Those who appreciate old charm and historically accurate decor will appreciate this hotel. There were several areas in the lobby that were warm and inviting for guests to relax. The restaurant food was delicious; however, the setting largely resembled an old banquet hall. The grounds were beautiful with well manicured lawns and gardens. The rooms were clean comfortable with modern Marriot bed linens and Bath & Body Works toiletries, but they were also very small. Size is its primary difference from new hotels. We requested a room with one bed, and the bed turned out to be full size as opposed to the usual king or queen size. The open space in the room was minimal, and the bathroom was tiny. The room could not have been any smaller. Overall, it seems more like a bed and breakfast than a 4 star hotel. While I know that some may appreciate the cozy feeling of a bed and breakfast, I had expected large rooms, a king size bed, and other modern amenities that come with every other 4 star hotel.” Sep 26, 2007 by
Jack from Raleigh, NC
“Excellent facility. I'd stay here again.” Sep 25, 2007 by
Carolyn W. from Winona Lake, IN
“A gracious, older hotel. We were lucky and got rooms on the Concigniere (sp?). The room was larger than some we read about in the reviews. Very nice bath, wonderful beds. Beautiful grounds. Had breakfast at the hotel, it was reasonably priced and good. Did not eat at the other restaurants.” Sep 24, 2007 by
Frank from Richmond, IN
“Nice but I don't think its a 4 star.” Sep 13, 2007 by
Rig from Covington, KY
“Great staff, our room was warm and they upgraded our room in the move.” Sep 6, 2007 by
Jenna from Clayton, MO
“The hotel was beautiful and had a lot of character. Although, the rooms were a little on the small side. Restaurants were good and staff very friendly and helpful. I attended a wedding at the hotel which was beautiful.” Sep 5, 2007 by
Becca from Cleveland, OH
“This hotel is a classic and decorated to suite. We had an excellent room location with a view of a scenic garden terrace. It was convenient to museums but no so close to downtown.” Aug 16, 2007 by
Peggy from Pasadena, MD
“Very clean but hallways were a bit musty, attractive and close to the Henry Ford attractions.” Aug 12, 2007 by
Jerome from Taylor, MI
“For the high price on a 4-star hotel, I was shocked that the room did not include a closet or a refrigerator. The space was also very claustrophobic. Outside the room, however, things were fine. The bar and the lobby were both attractive and spacious.” Aug 1, 2007 by
Niki from Crown Point, IN
“Very nice hotel for the price. Excellent location and a great value.” Jul 30, 2007 by
Sandra from Aurora, ON CA
“I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Detroit on business or pleasure. I have traveled the world and bar some properties in the far east I have never received such exceptional consistent service.” Jul 28, 2007 by
Alan T. from Ypsilanti, MI
“We loved everything about our stay at The Dearborn Inn, it is such a beautiful place, the Inn, the grounds around the Inn, everything. Our room was small, fine for a couple like us but not for children without getting a second room. We had dinner in The early American room - it was awesome. I had Prime Rib, wife had Fillet, price for dinner was very fair for the meal we had.” Jul 26, 2007 by
Wendy from Syracuse, NY
“The Dearborn Inn had every amenity that a family traveling overnight could possibly want. The staff was very helpful, even when it was inconvenient to assist us. The bathroom amenities by Bath and Bodyworks were very refreshing and relaxing.” Jul 26, 2007 by
Rob from Bloomfield Hills, MI
“This hotel facilitated a pleasurable stay with great helpful staff. The rooms were clean, and the beds were comfortable; but, the rooms might be in need of some small updates (i.e. New carpet, and paint/wallpaper). The common areas were very well maintained and the grounds were beautifully manicured. Overall it was a very nice hotel that I would recommend to couples, business travelers and families alike.” Jul 13, 2007 by
Patty from West Allis, WI
“Even though the Dearborn Inn is somewhat of an older hotel, the rooms were clean & very comfortable. We did have plumbing trouble in one of the rooms and air conditioning didn't work, the staff was quick to respond. All in all we had a pleasant stay.” Jul 11, 2007 by
Kay from Kalamazoo, MI
“Our stay at the Dearborn Inn was wonderful. We lucked out and got a corner room, which was very spacious. My son's room wasn't as big, but was still very nice. We loved the atmosphere of the lobby, the beautiful grounds, the location was great. We will be back for sure. It was a great night, and we plan to stay for a long weekend the next time we visit Dearborn!” Jul 10, 2007 by
Karen from Granger, IN
“Everything about the hotel was first class! The hotel staff was efficient and friendly. Our room was clean and comfortable also luxurious bed, pillows, and comforter! We had breakfast in the restaurant and that was also first rate. If we are ever in the Detroit area, we will plan to stay at the Dearborn Inn again.” Jul 3, 2007 by
Ignazio from Wyoming, MI
“The history behind the Dearborn Inn is an exciting learning experience in itself. The property layout was very elegant and was easy to visualize how Ford and past travelers enjoyed the gardens and ballrooms in the early years. Very cool.” Jul 2, 2007 by
Peggy from Atlanta, GA
“The Dearborn Inn exceeded our expectations. We had a beautiful room and we were treated like V.I.P.s by the staff. The restaurants offered wide selections and were fairly reasonably priced. The location was perfect for our needs. We will definitely return!” Hotel Representatives:
