• Nowhere to potty dogs.

“The Westin is by far the nicest hotel in the area. It is starting to show a little wear and tear but is still lovely. The lobby is gorgeous, the rooms are nicely appointed, and the runway view is awesome (and quiet if you can believe it). My one gripe I love that they allow dogs but there is not any green space within walking distance to potty them. Please, Westin, build a small run for them. Indoor pool & Jacuzzi are nice and the staff is always friendly and helpful. Restaurant is good but a little pricey.”

• Their staff was attentive, friendly and well informed.
• My stay was too short and when my son's accident happened in the lobby it cut short my time in the room.

“The hotel was clean, spacious and attractive. The fact that it was connected to the airport made transportation much easier. The room was comfortable and what I expected and more. The staff was helpful and courteous.”

• Only one restaurant to eat at. Expensive, salty food.

“This hotel was a combination of upscale and penny pinching. The two bath towels were smallish. I expected that I would be able to order room service for an early flight departure but room service doesn't begin until 6 AM even though my flight was scheduled for 6:40 AM. I expected that a four star hotel would have room service 24/7. The food was very expensive and salty at the one restaurant that was in the hotel.”

• The room service was at a very low quality compared to the rest of the hotel.

• Staff was exceptional. They went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable.
• Only one restaurant & pricey parking option (valet). Meals were pricey. Internet service was $10, should be free.

“We loved our stay at the Westin. Jennifer went out of her way to locate a Kids Pack for my children to enjoy, and really all the staff we encountered was very personable yet professional! Rooms were very clean and beds were extremely comfortable. View from our window was the Northwest terminal so the kids could see the planes coming and going. Kids loved the pool and hot tub. Some might have found the pool to be too small, but my kids had it to themselves so it was just right for them. Meal prices for the kids were very reasonable, but adult prices were high and there was only one restaurant. I would prefer another option for parking, but I guess being attached to the airport limits options. Internet access should be free like it is in most other hotel chains. Overall, very nice hotel and we would stay there again if in the Detroit area.”

• Location was excellent for air travelers. Service was very good.
• In room bar items were expensive; a bottle of premium water was five dollars.

“Lovely and convenient best describes the Westin at Metro Airport. The restaurant was very good; service in the bar was excellent. The rooms were comfortable and appealing. True to Westin's reputation, this is a great place to stay for business travelers, or those going to a romantic getaway.”

• Luxury at a good price!
• Bad drain in bathroom, hates that!

“This hotel was great for our needs, had a pool for the kids and parents to relax in after a few HOT days in Detroit at the Air Show. Fun to be able to go into airport Terminal for supper and watch the planes come and go, we had a great view of the tarmac from our room window which was a bonus for the kids and the dad! ;-)”

“A four star hotel, but the rooms are a bit small compared to other four stars. Not a problem though. Nicely appointed, but a bit industrially appointed in certain aspects, such as metal doors for the closet an bathroom. Not as nice as wood.”

• The parking was an issue.

“Excellent hotel!! Very cool. Was kind of surprised at the dirty window that we looked out of, dirty from the inside as far as finger prints & noses against the window--should have been cleaned by the maids. Otherwise, a very nice place to stay.”

• Wonderful ambience in the spacious atrium.
• Carpet in room was not particularly clean. Found pacifier under dresser.

“We love staying at the DTW Westin! It is a gorgeous hotel with a wonderful atrium and excellent gym. However, we have noticed the wear and tear over the years. The furniture in the lobby areas is showing wear. The carpet in our room was not clean, so it detracted from our stay. We are still quite happy with the hotel, it is soothing and relaxing, but the rooms should be kept cleaner.”

• The staff of this hotel really knows how to make you feel like you're a star.
• Aside from its location in the Detroit metro airport, I found nothing wrong with this hotel at all.

“The west in hotel at the Detroit metro airport is a true gem, despite its odd location. Descending the escalator to the hotel lobby you will find a hidden oasis of luxury. As you pass from behind the "bamboo forest", a tranquil and elegant reflecting pond”

• Inability to adjust room temperature.

“This is a beautiful well appointed hotel. This was my second visit and I will not give it another try. The temperature of the room was so warm on both occasions, that I could not get comfortable nor sleep, nor enjoy the wonderful amenities of the room and there is no way to adjust the temperature that works. The first time I just thought it was an aberration, but on the second occasion I felt as though I had wasted my money when I could not get the rest I was looking for. It is truly a shame that I will have to dismiss this beautiful hotel from my list of places to stay when I¿ve booked early morning business or pleasure trips from dew.”

• It was not convenient to the smith terminal and limited food options for passengers departing smith.

“This was a very nice hotel and I would definitely stay here again if I was traveling northwest out of McNamara, but for smith terminal it is not convenient. The in-room movie selection was fantastic and we really enjoyed that.”

• Extremely pricey beverages in room. For a can of pop is ridiculous.

“This west in was nicely decorated, had friendly staff and was a perfect fit for our needs. In room beverages were quite pricey (for can of soda, for relatively small bottle of water, not including tax), no vending machines located in hotel, and our ice machine didn't work.”

“Being attached to the airport, it was very quick to locate the hotel, and time-saving. The room was warm and comfortable, and the staff was quite helpful when I requested information of night-snack around 11pm. Overall I think this is a great hotel!”

• Security gate from hotel was not open for my 8:30 a.m. Flight.

“Loved the hotel. Have already recommended this to many friends. I will never stay at any other hotel at the Detroit airport again. I used to stay at the doubletree but this is nicer (except for the cookies) and more convenient.”

• High quality. Amazing location. Very comfortable room.
• I wish this hotel had a more "basic" restaurant.

“When you need to overnight between flights, there is no more convenient way to do so. The bed, bathroom and the room overall are excellent. Despite being located in the middle of a major airport, I didn't hear an airplane even once. The restaurant is a little too fancy for when you just want to get something to eat. They do now allow you to re-enter the terminal to access other restaurants but they have to call a policeman to do a quick background check, some paperwork and then escort you to security. There you must go through a very thorough pat-down, as though you set of the metal detector. Not a big problem but I felt guilty to put the Detroit police and homeland security through all of that work so I could go to McDonalds. Still, this is an excellent hotel and incredibly convenient.”

• Overpriced room service, erroneous charges, and limited menu options in isolated location,

“Truly outstanding hotel in terms of design, facilities, location, comfort, and convenience. But furnishings already need some maintenance. Also concerned that the appearance is given of grabbing money from guests at every opportunity. $38 is excessive for a sandwich and an appetizer from room service, especially when there are no other options.”

“This is a nice hotel if you plan on flying in or out of DTW. Extra 10% airport tax and everything else is (food, drinks) are at airport pricing. There is no convenient way to get your car unless you pay the valet.”

• The hotel is promo. They have nice kids packs. The gym was great. The staff was great. Very close to North West terminal.
• No casual dinning options. Hotel restaurant = $20 hamburger. We had to order a pizza and have it delivered.

“This is a business traveler hotel. However, it has a nice pool and gym. The lobby is very quiet. The kids loved our view of the airplanes. The bed was awesome and the shower was great. The shades in the room were good at making the room dark. The shampoo smelled good and the soap was nice. The rooms were sound proof and the staff was great. It is a long walk from the valet to the front desk. We liked the lemonade in the lobby. The gym had free copy's of Newsweek.”

• It was a nice comfortable hotel.
• It was in the middle of the airport and we weren't flying.

“This hotel is right in the airport which is great if you are stuck in the airport for some reason. It is not convenient for people driving across the country in a car. Airport parking is a hassle when you fly, but is even worse when you are just spending the night.”
