“The staff was friendly, very knowledgeable, and attentive. The hotel was beautiful and spotless clean. When they say they have "heavenly beds", they are not kidding. Everything about this hotel exceeded my expectations and we will being staying their again.”

  • Hours for massage were not long enough. They were not open late enough.

“When we were checking out, there was a guy who would not look up for anything to help us. He kept staring at the screen and was waiting for the other guy to help us, who was already helping someone else. We just had a quick question, we had already checked out, walked away and came back. But he refused to look and acknowledge us.”

“Dinner was late, and sat under lights at 10 pm, menu selection was not the same as served dinner - substitution of ingredients. Other people served first after we had been waiting extended time period.”

“Love this hotel, within the DTW airport. Great for a late arrival or early AM departure. Nice rooms, although furniture is beginning to look at little worn (but still very nice!). Have stayed here 3 - 5 times and will definitely return.”

“Right in the airport and easy to get to. Very nice decor and the room was modern but relaxing all at the same time. Nice get screen TV and comfortable bed. Only draw back for us was the very tiny pool.”

  • The meal we ate at the restaurant was amazing!
  • The top sheet on the bed was like a rough paper napkin. So uncomfortable!

“We stayed here one other time and loved it. Our room had the most amazing tub and shower and a private toilet and we were excited to stay again. Our room this time had no tub and no private toilet. Plus, the top sheet on our bed may have been 200 thread count but I think that's high. Overall, a great hotel but not the best stay this time.”

  • Exclusive gate to check in (not if you have luggage).

“Had dinner one night, food arrived on a hot plate but cold food. So I sent it back, next try a cold plate with lukewarm food (note these meals are not cheap). So the manager gets involved which was nice and did not charge for meal but I was starving at that point. Room extremely quiet and peaceful given location. Touted special check in gate) but not if you are checking luggage, so I had to wheel my 50# suitcase up a steep ramp (there was no one to help me) then outside, to check it. They should have offered to help me. There are no vending machines in the hallway so if you want a drink, get it in the terminal before going to the room. Very Asian themed hotel but no Asian food on the menu. Bar small and very crowded, dining area lacks ambience considering price of food.”

  • Nicer than other hotels in the area.
  • Starting to show wear, time for improvements.

“The Westin at Detroit Metro Airport is still one of the nicer hotels in the immediate area. That said, the property is starting to wear a bit and if some improvements aren't tended to soon the hotel will lose it's appeal. Love the fact that dogs are allowed but perplexed as to why the hotel has not arranged an onsite potty area for it's canine guests. Public spaces lovely. Restaurant is good but overpriced (but you are a captive audience so what to do?). Some nice touches have disappeared such as the previously complimentary bottled water that they now charge $5 for. With the tiny shop only open certain hours and absolutely no vending options it seems the hotel wouldn't take such advantage of their valued guests.”

  • Allegedly Asian restaurant serves same old beef, chicken, and fish with fancy Names.

“The room was small but lovely, amazingly quiet (you could see the airport runway right outside, but only the most distant of muted murmurs when planes took off). The lobby was very nice, the room service was too expensive and I thought the room service menu was very limited: steak with Asian vegetables is still steak; chicken with Asian vegetables is still chicken. The AAA guide said the restaurant had stir fries and noodle dishes and maybe it did, but the room service menu did not. The best part was having our own private security checkpoint right into the airport; that was very pleasant.”

“I liked everything about except having to stay in a handicap accessible room. There is no counter space in the bathroom. Hotel was not sold out. I should not have gotten that type of room. This was only shortcoming, but it was in my opinion a big one. I would not have been happy if I had to stay more than one night.”

  • Nowhere to potty dogs.

“The Westin is by far the nicest hotel in the area. It is starting to show a little wear and tear but is still lovely. The lobby is gorgeous, the rooms are nicely appointed, and the runway view is awesome (and quiet if you can believe it). My one gripe I love that they allow dogs but there is not any green space within walking distance to potty them. Please, Westin, build a small run for them. Indoor pool & Jacuzzi are nice and the staff is always friendly and helpful. Restaurant is good but a little pricey.”

  • My stay was too short and when my son's accident happened in the lobby it cut short my time in the room.

“This hotel was a combination of upscale and penny pinching. The two bath towels were smallish. I expected that I would be able to order room service for an early flight departure but room service doesn't begin until 6 AM even though my flight was scheduled for 6:40 AM. I expected that a four star hotel would have room service 24/7. The food was very expensive and salty at the one restaurant that was in the hotel.”

  • Staff was exceptional. They went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable.
  • Only one restaurant & pricey parking option (valet). Meals were pricey. Internet service was $10, should be free.

“We loved our stay at the Westin. Jennifer went out of her way to locate a Kids Pack for my children to enjoy, and really all the staff we encountered was very personable yet professional! Rooms were very clean and beds were extremely comfortable. View from our window was the Northwest terminal so the kids could see the planes coming and going. Kids loved the pool and hot tub. Some might have found the pool to be too small, but my kids had it to themselves so it was just right for them. Meal prices for the kids were very reasonable, but adult prices were high and there was only one restaurant. I would prefer another option for parking, but I guess being attached to the airport limits options. Internet access should be free like it is in most other hotel chains. Overall, very nice hotel and we would stay there again if in the Detroit area.”

“This hotel was great for our needs, had a pool for the kids and parents to relax in after a few HOT days in Detroit at the Air Show. Fun to be able to go into airport Terminal for supper and watch the planes come and go, we had a great view of the tarmac from our room window which was a bonus for the kids and the dad! ;-)”

  • Carpet in room was not particularly clean. Found pacifier under dresser.

“We love staying at the DTW Westin! It is a gorgeous hotel with a wonderful atrium and excellent gym. However, we have noticed the wear and tear over the years. The furniture in the lobby areas is showing wear. The carpet in our room was not clean, so it detracted from our stay. We are still quite happy with the hotel, it is soothing and relaxing, but the rooms should be kept cleaner.”

  • The staff of this hotel really knows how to make you feel like you're a star.
  • Aside from its location in the Detroit metro airport, I found nothing wrong with this hotel at all.

“The west in hotel at the Detroit metro airport is a true gem, despite its odd location. Descending the escalator to the hotel lobby you will find a hidden oasis of luxury. As you pass from behind the "bamboo forest", a tranquil and elegant reflecting pond”

  • Inability to adjust room temperature.

“This is a beautiful well appointed hotel. This was my second visit and I will not give it another try. The temperature of the room was so warm on both occasions, that I could not get comfortable nor sleep, nor enjoy the wonderful amenities of the room and there is no way to adjust the temperature that works. The first time I just thought it was an aberration, but on the second occasion I felt as though I had wasted my money when I could not get the rest I was looking for. It is truly a shame that I will have to dismiss this beautiful hotel from my list of places to stay when Iżve booked early morning business or pleasure trips from dew.”

  • It was not convenient to the smith terminal and limited food options for passengers departing smith.
