• It have an awesome mountain view and the trolley service into town was excellent.
• The balcony was not nice. It had a stagnant water smell, and there was a gas smell in the hallway. Air conditioner was noisy.

“Very nice place to stay. The front desk staff was a bit rude. I was disappointed about the balcony, but that was it. Loved the mountain feel to the hotel; both with it being in the mountains and the decor. Trolley service made going into Gatlinburg a breeze since I didn't have to deal with traffic or pay for parking.”

• Location was perfect - away from the tourists area but very close to the park.
• Food was a little expensive and was good but not great.

“Loved this hotel! It's the best one in Gatlinburg regarding location. Up on a hill and away from all the tourism, but very close to the park. Staff was great. Trolley is very convenient and takes you to and from the hotel with minimal waiting.”

• We like the view of Gatlinburg, The Hotel was a neat design. The bed was very comfy!
• It needs updating, The showers went from extremely hot to extremely cold.

“In it's heyday, Park Vista was a beautiful hotel. It still had a lot of glamor. The design of the hotel and the fact that every room had a view was awesome. Our bed was extremely comfy. Trolley service (which is for the town of Gatlinburg) is not worth it. It runs at weird times and is usually late. Run times change and are not posted, we were wanting to catch a Trolley at 10:30, but they had stopped the 10:30 shuttle the day before, no posting. Anyway, the hotel staff was nice, they seemed a little short staffed however. The pool area was immense, great place to take the kids. It is sort of secluded up away from all the bustle of Gatlinburg, which is nice in its own way. Overall it was pleasant and relaxing trip.”

• The beds were really comfortable. The pool and hot tub was awesome too.
• Did not like the hills had to drive up to get to the hotel, but was nice to be sectioned off from everything else. Peaceful and quite!

“I was more than pleased with this hotel. I could not believe that this hotel was only rated a two star. The beds were so comfortable that I am looking at buying one for myself. They even had a kiddy pool. The pool did not close till midnight and was back open at 6:30 a.m. In which was great to relax in before you go to bed. Most close at 9 which is annoying. This hotel was more then worth the money that I spent.”

• Very clean, helpful staff, great pools, less than 1/2 mile from major attraction strip.
• There was not a single thing that I did not like about this hotel.

“The hotel was excellent. I could hardly get my son to want to leave it. Restaurant had full all you could eat prime rib buffet. Two pools, Jacuzzi and playground. The view from the balcony was amazing. I had trouble getting my card to open door, they had a staff person there in less than 2 minutes.”

• The size of the rooms, the views, pools.
• The staff didn't inform about everything.

“My family has been to this hotel a number of times since 1998. Our complaints are more with some staff. When we checked in we used a bank card. Went to us the phone in our room and they declined to inform us you had to pay a deposit for the phone. I talked to the manager and he turned it on for half the deposit. We have no problem paying the deposit they should let people know. Other complaint came from my husband and our son they thought the pool closed to early. Balcony view is great. Look out enjoy the mountain or town if you are over garden that is nice as well.”

• Im disabled and had to park 2 blocks from the door plus they had no carts for luggage.

• The indoor pool area was nice.
• The wait to be seated at the almost-empty restaurant was unreasonable.

“This hotel is conveniently located. The grounds and surrounding areas are beautiful. The view from our room was unbelievable. We took the recommendation of a previous guest on the room service, continental breakfast, which we also recommend. It is definitely the way to go. The warm Danish, muffins, coffee, juice, etc. was enough for 2 adults and 2 small children.”

• Great location with a trolley stop on premises.
• Some furnishings in the rooms need to be updated.

“This is a nice hotel given the city. Most hotels in Gatlinburg are rundown, so when given the chance to stay at the Park Vista, I jump. The hotel was clean. The room size was rather large with a nice balcony overlooking either the national park or the city.”

• I really liked the mountain view from our room.
• The only thing I noticed that was not clean was the balcony. Lots of pigeon poop.

“We loved the hotel. From the outside it looks kind of old but is really beautiful inside. The view makes it all worth while. The road up to the hotel is pretty curvy, but not far at all from the main strip.”

• The view was amazing! Beds were comfy, Lobby was very nice.
• Elevators were a little slow.

“Hotel was as I expected. Balcony views were amazing, Trolley ran till 11:30pm and we never had to wait long for one to arrive at motel. We definitely will be staying here each time we come to Gatlinburg!”

• The views from the balcony and the pet friendly policy although I did not bring a pet.
• Charged $10.00 per day for internet access, really cheesy.

“I've stayed at the Park Vista 3 times since my first visit in 1999. My second visit was in 2002. Since then, I see no effort to update the hotel or keep up with the times. I could swear that the furnishings were the same as in my original visit. It did no good to have a table in the room since the huge tube TV took up all the space on it. The wiring from the back of the TV was a mess under the table and could pose a real safety hazard to small children. The hotel was fine for the price, but I was a bit disappointed when I learned that the hotel no longer provided a shuttle to the convention center and you had to use the trolley system.”

• It was not in walking distance of town.

“When we go on vacation we like to park the car and not crank it up again till we are ready to leave, this hotel was only 1/2 mile from town but the steep grade was way to much to walk, the trolley stopped at 6:00 so that was not much help, it would have been great if it were in walking distance, maybe better luck next time.”

• The room service was great and reasonably priced.
• The hot tub did not have steps to get in or out making it difficult.

“The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The room service was great! We had coffee, biscuits, Danishes, and muffins delivered to the room in less than 30 minutes for a reasonable price, $11.00. I highly recommend this hotel.”

• The hotel is excellent choice for family and romantic getaways. The pool is excellent with the longest hours of any hotel.
• The bed could have been bigger. The room would have held it.

“This hotel has atmosphere, location and cleanliness. The staff is friendly and helpful. The view of the city was lovely. The trolley took us everywhere. Gatlinburg offers unique gifts for hard to shop for people on your list. We are planning to take off on a before Christmas getaway again next year.”

• Cleanliness, location, and housekeeping staff are great!!
• POOR customer service from front desk staff, very unaccommodating!!

“The Park Vista hotel is beautiful, very clean, and in excellent condition for an "older" hotel. The housekeeping service is EXCELLENT, the pool is very nice, and the trolley service to Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg is wonderful. However, if you want to stay at a hotel with great customer service, this is NOT the place to stay. Immediately upon arrival, the front desk staff is SLOW and RUDE! I have never seen any hotel staff with such HORRIBLE hospitality training!! The restaurant staff was the same way. It took 10 minutes to get SEATED for breakfast!! Food was OK but overpriced for what you got. Rooms are clean and in great condition though. DO NOT EXPECT GOOD SERVICE HERE. ”

• Bellboy quite rude! Serious lack of luggage carts for 15 stories.

“Lovely setting just a couple of blocks away from the madness of downtown Gatlinburg. Clean and nicely appointed but a serious lack of luggage carts for a 15 story tower. Discourteous bell staff and only one on duty (Saturday evening or Sunday morning).”

• Not enough parking spaces.

“This hotel met my expectations. It is very clean and well kept. The bedding is not very comfortable, but not many hotel bedding is. Would definitely stay there again.”

• The unique round construction of the building makes for spectacular view indoors and out. The site allows for views of the mountains and the city.
• Can't think of anything I didn't like.

“Both stays have been great. All the amenities are 1st class. The large indoor pool is great for kids and adults. The restaurant offered a menu anyone could enjoy. The views have to be the best in Gatlinburg, one side is the mountains and the other looks down on the city or up in the mountains. Staff are very friendly and helpful.”

• The views from the room were spectacular.
• The elevators take forever and the majority must use them. Loud guest nearby. Hole in skylight over the pool. Drawers missing handles.

“This hotel was probably first rate when first built, but time has taken it's tale. I would not stay here on my first trip to this area, but rather for a second time around. The driveway is windy and steep, probably impossible in bad weather.”

“This hotel was very nice and clean. I felt it was a little too far off the main road for me and my husband. We would prefer to stay closer so we can walk everywhere. With this hotel you had to drive and park to get to the attractions. Other than that it was great.”

• We had to wait to long for the elevator every time we needed it.

“The hotel was pretty inside with a good view from the balcony. The elevator was to slow, we found we were waiting 10-15 minutes every time we used it. The food at the hotel restaurant was good, not great, and it was overpriced.”

• It was nice that the hotel had a restaurant, lounge, giftshop, and very nice pool area for guest.
• The hotel was a little dated, and the carpet in our room had several bubblegum stains on it.

“The location was great and the trolley into town was 25 cents a person. Nice kiddie pool and playground for the kids. The restaurant had a woderful breakfast buffet, but was a little pricey for dinner. The hotel sfaff was friendly. The restrooms in the pool areas could use some updating. Enjoyed the beautiful mountain views from our room.”

• Excellent location and every room had a view of the mountains
• Nothing I can think of off the top of my head.

“Great location. Can't get any closer to the Smokey Mountains. Plus every room has a vew. It's set a bit above the main drag in GAtlinburg so you have a sense of peace which is what you want at a gateway to a National Park....not the mass commercialism that exists in the main street below the hotel.”

• Interesting decor, nice view, nice rooms.
• Could use 'real' balconies, was not given room that was offered originally due to construction.

“Our overall rating is excellent even with the construction problems, we did not use the valets or Bellmen, but were impressed by the Hotels staff with the exception of the restaurant, which had slow service. This we believed to be the result of not enough servers. We were however pleased with food and did leave a tip.”

“Excellent view of mountains. Wonderful room with panaramic view. Exceptionally quiet in rooms. Resturants offered excellent food, wide variety, and resonable prices -- prices competitive with other resturants in area. Definitly want to return to this hotel.”
