• The heat didn't work, the hotel put us on a floor with a group of loud basketball fans.

“We feel the hotel knew that there was a group of Basketball fans since they provided a bus to Detroit. They could have easily put us on a floor that didn't have partiers. I did call down to the desk and someone came up but it still wasn't great then our heater wouldn't regulate so we shut it down. In the night it was freezing so we tried to turn it on and it smelled like burning plastic. When I went to the front desk (we waited 5 min while the only front desk person talked to a future wedding party person) then she seemed very glib and said someone would call me, no calls to date. We weren't pleased and feel this hotel is poorly managed. Oh the hot tub was warm but definitely not Hot.”

• No complaints on anything. Very impressed! Could not have been nicer!

“From the beautiful smile from the person behind the counter in the front lobby, to the wonderful room to relax in. I could not have enjoyed my stay more! Actually down to Michigan to check back with a doctor about recent operation. I went for a swim and jumped also into the hot tub for a bit. Everything super clean and comfortable. Many, many clean towels in the swim area all neatly folded and available all around the entire room!”

“This hotel is a great choice for clean, safe rooms. They are not over the top luxury, but you also won't be wondering if the sheets are clean enough to sleep on. The staff is friendly and sincere!”

• Plumbing was poor and
  walls were too thin.

“Location is very good, close to freeway. Some staff members were very friendly but some surly. Room’s o.k., not 3 star worthy. Plumbing in our room was burping when guest in next room took shower. Walls seem too thin.”

• The person at the front and all of those with her were friendly and helpful!
• They got me a king bed, and I needed two queens.

• The location/the pool and exercise room along with the fact there was a restaurant in the hotel.

“We really enjoyed our stay here. The location is perfect and there were so many different things you could do here. Tons of restaurants and stores to go shopping. Along with the staff and pool with exercise room. They also had a washer and dryer at your deposal.”

• The location was perfect and they had free internet access and a flat screen TV with an exercise facility.

“I would love to stay here again. We had free "wireless" internet access and an exercise area right next to the pool with flat screens TV's everywhere. It was very nice, we loved it.”

“Excellent hotel. Rooms are appointed nicely with new large LCD screens. The restaurant for breakfast was fast, efficient, and liked to take on special orders. The restaurant even had baked goods from Zinger men!”

• I wish they would have accommodated my request for a queen bed - even though I am a high rewards member with their hotel.

• For hotel of this type and rating, there was no restaurant or bar facility on the weekend!

“I was very satisfied with the room and the overall hotel, but felt that with no restaurant nor bar facility over the weekend, that it was limited in its overall ability to serve a leisure traveler's needs. With that one change (at least a bar with bar food at night!), it would jump a grade easily.”

• The breakfast and the breakfast staff were pleasant. The flat screen TV was novel.
• Donna the welcoming agent was abrupt and condescending.

“The first weekend we booked at this hotel, I had called to see about the pool on Wednesday. They assured me that the pool was very nice. We arrived Thursday. On Friday morning we had breakfast, the staff said the pool was beautiful. We went to the pool and it was under construction the day before for repairs. The following weekend we went to check in. The pool was backing up and running, but was not clean. There is no dinner or room service in the evening on Friday and Saturday night.”

• The staff was very friendly.
• It took five minutes to get warm water only when hotel was full did water get hot.

“Nice hotel, with declining maid serves 2nd, 3rd and 4th my room was so far away from water heater that at any other time then the wake up hours, it took a bathtub full of water before getting warm water, to get a hot bath, you, had to waste a sinful amount of water and if wishing a warm shower to rinse off after a bath, forget about it. Maid also broke toilet seat, finding broken hinge of seat on floor. Reported this to front desk, did not get fixed the next day so had two full night of a slip and slid toilet seat. Fun stuff on the up side nice staff good location.”

• I wish there was an actual restaurant. Menu and all.

“I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel, from reading all of the reviews about hotels in Ann Arbor, I figured no-matter where we stayed it would be a dump, but Courtyard by Marriot settled that the minute I walked into the lobby. Very clean, modern look and extremely accommodating staff. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to stay in Ann Arbor. The entire building is smoke-free which adds 2 stars to any hotel in my book.”

• The room was beautiful and very large. It even had a nice flat panel TV.
• The indoor pool wasn't exactly heated.

“Very nice place to stay and surrounded by good shopping areas. The room was nicely appointed which gave us room to spread out. In the lobby and in each of the rooms there were nice flat panel televisions. It was a great retreat even with snow keeping us indoors most of the time.”

• Slow elevator repair response.

“Spent three nights at hotel. When I checked in, elevator was in working order. Broke early Sat. morning. Stayed un-repaired until I checked out at 10 a.m. Monday. Mattered most when I was taking my luggage out to my car from the 3rd floor; otherwise, having to use the stair was not a great inconvenience.”

“I rather stay in Fairfield Inn which is next door than this courtyard simply because Fairfield inn includes the breakfast in the price. This courtyard charged $10 per person for its breakfast buffet. For a family of 4 that is additional $40 plus tax and tips.”

• Overpriced. 2-3 times more than if should be.

“Bad all around. Room type was other than what I reserved & they wouldn't switch. One day before breakfast, I notified them that the toilet plugged. After multiple follow up requests, no one had been in to fix it at 11 pm. I finally took a plunger to it myself. Design of room was awkward, i.e. sink stood alone, with no place to put toiletries. Staff generally unaccommodating.”

• Very comfortable bedding, clean rooms.
• Rooms have fairly low ceilings, so tall persons need to watch their heads, lest they bump a sprinkler or lamp!

“Very comfortable room and lobby, and helpful staff. My only real complaint is that the wireless internet service (which was free) was unreliable and made use of the internet almost impossible, due to continuous time-out errors (many different websites). They need a new ISP.”

• Location. Staff was good, parking was adequate. Everything I needed was present.
• They gave me the worst room possible, facing road, first one with lots of pedestrian traffic.

“My experience at this hotel was adequate, not great or bad, but reasonable. They gave me the worst room, closest to the road, first in the hall with lots of pedestrian traffic walking by, especially late at night. The room had a faint smell of smoke, but I decided to ignore it, but next time I will not. This hotel is located in a convenient area. The maid service was nice and friendly. I would stay here again, but next time ask for a better room if I got the same one.”

• We were impressed by the cleanliness of the hotel and friendliness of the hotel staff. The location was also very convenient.
• Early one morning some teens had the door to the pool propped open and their screams could be heard in our room on the 4th floor!

“We had a great experience at this hotel, the rooms were comfortable, the service was good, the lobby was inviting and everyone was friendly. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone and would definitely choose this hotel again.”

• The people at the front desk were very knowledgeable and friendly. They gave me maps to any place I wanted to go.
• It very minor, but I did not like that the room had no complimentary lotion, shower cap, etc.

“This hotel is located near a beautiful shopping mall and I really enjoyed using the hot tub and pool. The breakfast buffet was too expensive. ”

• The location and not being asked what kind of room I wanted when I got there. I was given a king, needed a double w/ my kid.

• No smoking. Great, safe and quiet location. Free internet with proper desk to work at.
• Do not like buffet meals. Went elsewhere for breakfast because of that.

• The room was clean and classier than some 4 star hotels we've stayed in. Plus free wireless internet.
• We checked in at 5 pm on Sunday and had to wait 10 minutes for the check-in lady to get off the phone.

“This hotel was rated a 2.5 star but was much nicer than many higher rated hotels we've visited. The room was very clean, and there were no filthy bedspreads like most hotels. It was obvious that the entire bedding was washed every day (I¿m a gramophone). The room had a nice desk and chair with free wireless internet. I was actually able to get some work done before bed. It was much nicer than we expected. I only wish we would have had time to vista the pool and hot tub.”

• Pool seemed a tad murky.

“Upon arrival I asked if any free upgrades were available and the front desk clerk did put us in a suite which was lovely but the air vents made a horrible noise, I hated to complain but there was no way we would be able to sleep through the noise the clerk was great and did not hesitate to move us to another suite and then he called to make sure that the new room was completely acceptable. He did all this with a smile and complete friendliness.”

• View of the courtyard/pool was awesome.
• We could hear people walking in the hallway from the room.

“We left our privacy tag on the door by mistake when we left for the day, but we asked for linen to be delivered while we were away. They did not deliver the linen until several hours later after a second request once we returned for the night. overall, the quality, price, and staff were great - would definitely refer others to this hotel.”

“This was a perfect hotel stay for a business traveler. There is free wireless internet access in every room, as well as a business center. The hotel is located near a bus stop which is about a five minute ride from the University of Michigan. I would stay at this hotel again when visiting Ann Arbor.”
