• Breakfast area and selections were very good.
• The room was small and smelled of disinfectant.

“The Fairfield Inn by Marriott is a convenient hotel to stay when visiting Ann Arbor. The lobby is well lit and comfortable, and the hotel is clean. The room we stayed in had a single queen bed and not much room for anything else. It may be a small thing to pick on, but the towels were thin and rough--apparently they were not upgraded when the hotel was recently renovated. The pool was a nice extra. The staff were all friendly and welcoming--they seemed to enjoy their jobs which is always a sign of good management. All in all a pleasant hotel and a good value for the area.”

• It was economical because of the Priceline price; good self-serve breakfast.
• The mattress on the bed was not comfortable.

“The hotel room, lobby, etc. was pretty standard stuff. The room was clean, but the mattress was uncomfortable, and the air conditioning unit cycled on and off. The Continental breakfast offered a lot of basic choices, including make-your-own Belgium waffles which my son enjoyed.”

“The location is central to Ann Arbor and the staff at front desk was responsive to problems. Between getting money stolen in my room, food going bad because refrigerator didn't work and not getting the two beds I requested, not one of my best experiences.”

“The free internet kiosk with free printing in the lobby was great for itineraries. Location was right near all the things we wanted to see in Ann Arbor during the art fair. Pool and hot tub looked nice if you were there for that.”

• Nice breakfast, didn't expect wi-fi, quiet area slept well.
• Indoor pool very cold, awakened by housekeeping one morning.

“I don't travel much so I'm not the best critic, but my general impression was this was a clean hotel with ample amenities for me and a friendly accommodating staff. It was close to but not right on the main freeway and easy to find.”

• Clean, convenient. close to mall and University. Staff very helpful with taxis and locations of needed addresses.
• Young lady at the desk, who was very helpful, polite, and perfect in everyway, took off uniform top and only wore a t-shirt. Need more cable channels?

“The rooms were clean and comfortable. The water was hot and the heating and cooling system worked great. Breakfast was simple, but varied and good. It was within walking distance from the mall and a short taxi ride from the University of Michigan.”

“This hotel was fantastic for the price and star-rating. I was worried that at two stars we'd get a low-grade room. But the beds were fantastic as well as the showers. Although the sink was outside of the bathroom, everything else exceeded expectations at this price and star level.”

“Great location, easy-on easy-off the expressway. The breakfast is just fantastic, wide variety, and there truly is something for everyone there. The room was nicely furnished and my wife and I both marveled how well the bed was for a restful night's sleep. Great value for our money.”

• The sink is in the room, rather than in the bathroom.

“A good location near convenient shopping and close to downtown, the hotel staff was friendly and professional, the bedding and rooms comfortable, and the in-room thermostat allowed for cooling temperature adjustments on a muggy Michigan summer day. The breakfast selection was sufficient for varied tastes, offering waffles made to order among other things. Overall, a good value for the price.”

“We arrived at the Fair Field very late (3:30 a.m.) After a 10 hour drive. Even at this late an hour, the person at the front dust was friendly and accommodating. With my room key I found a welcome card from the manager. In it he wrote he hoped we would enjoy our experience at the Fairfield inn and if we did not, he would appreciate to hear our concerns. ”

• The room we ended up in was very nice. Clean and spacious on the fourth floor. It was very quiet, as well.
• We were initially sent to a room on the 1st floor at the end of the hall that reeked of stale cigarette smoke upon opening the door.

“When we checked in, we were sent to a "non-smoking" room in a poor location. Upon opening the door, we were nearly knocked over by the smell of stale cigarette odor. The woman at the desk seemed to know that the room had been smoked in. She immediately changed us to a very nice room on the 4th floor. Very interesting.”

• Appreciated that they don't use bed spreads (source of bacteria in hotels) but have created a sheet-covering and drape that's washed each use.
• No sink in bathroom.

“Clean, close to campus and highway. Comfortable bed. Simple. Good deal! I'd rather spend my money on nice restaurants and tickets at the theater than on fancy hotels.”

• Every time asked for something took forever to get it.

“Were told that we would have a refrigerator in the room, got there and not one, asked for refrigerator, told they had none, asked for towels, did not get the amount asked for, had to ask for coffee for the room 3 times before we got it. Staff wasn't adequate in getting things we needed.”

• We called ahead for a king bed, confirmed it and then were given a queen.

“Location was great, breakfast was good, but they fell short on their promise of a king-sized bed, we got "stuck" with a queen. Too few towels in the bathroom, and they didn't have any at the front desk. Air conditioning unit kept my wife up all night. No sink in the bathroom, that meant shaving, etc... had to be done by the closet in the hall.”

• Nicely decorated. Everything was new - fresh and clean.
• Lobby was being remodeled. Had to check in at a folding table.

“We stay in Ann Arbor regularly as my daughter is a student at the University of Michigan. This hotel was a great deal - close to where we needed to be, clean, new decorated and the service was great. We had a toilet overflow and maintenance was there in a few minutes. We are staying there again next week.”

“When we entered the room , the bathroom floor was flooded. The staff were slow to respond and acted very put out for the inconvenience. They did, however, after cleanup (although toilet still leaked and had to take top off to flush), offer us a free movie.”

• Super soft beds were actually very uncomfortable and hurt my back.

“The hotel is fine, it is difficult to find as it is set back behind other hotels and the name is not well posted. None of the other nearby hotels have through roads, so it was difficult. The hotel is renovating and upgrading. We had a new mattress, however it was so soft I have had back pain ever since the two night stay. The mattress did not offer much support. The highlight was the continental breakfast which had a lot of offerings for "Continental". The site serves its purpose of having a room and bed to sleep in, it's pretty bare bones otherwise.”

• Heated pool was the best thing about the hotel.
• They did not clean our room after the first day.

The Continental Breakfast was well stocked and satisfying with many items from which to choose. Our room was clean and very comfortable. • The staff was friendly and the room was clean.
• The room was very small. Fortunately, we arrived late and were leaving early.

“They are remodeling so there is a great deal of dust and construction on the 2nd floor and some deterioration on the 3rd floor where we stayed. the front desk staff was very friendly and considerate. If we were to stay there again, I would definitely request a larger room.”

“The hotel is fine, however, it's hard to find it. The mattresses were very thin - would prefer a king size bed instead of queen. Rooms were small - much prefer to stay at the Hampton Inn in Ann Arbor - the king size beds are fabulous. Waffles for breakfast were nice - so was pool. Clean and quiet.”

“Hotel - o.k. Fairfield's beds are foam mattresses, hardly luxurious. Good if you need a place to sleep and no frills. Other Marriott properties are better.”

“Overall not a bad place, good location, price was super! Lobby area was good and hotel was clean. Staff was fiendly. Really I can't find anything to complain about. My only comments are the place looks early to mid 80's vintage and could use a slight freshing. I stay at these types of places for business across the country and other Fairfields seem a little newer. This stay was a vacation trip. Also the elevators need a little TLC, they seem a little slow and the doors rattle a bunch, they sound like they are going to fall off when they open. ”
