“Bed was comfortable, cleaning staff nice, desk person did not want to call a cab for us instead stated she normally just gives the guest a list of numbers. Good cookies. Hotel in need of renovations.” May 24, 2008 by
Michelle from Goleta, CA
“Fantastic bed. Crisp sheets, lots of soft pillows, featherbed. Warm chocolate chip cookie on arrival. Super friendly staff. If you want to sleep past 7 am, the street noise is a problem.” May 5, 2008 by
Marilyn H. from Brookings, SD
“This is the best kept secrete in Dayton, Ohio. I would highly recommend to all my peers, family and friends.” Apr 23, 2008 by
Lisa from Worthington, OH
“Excellent location w/all amenities as described. Lovely warm pool & wonderful soft beds.” Apr 6, 2008 by
Patty from Columbus, OH
“Good place to stay in Downtown Dayton.” Apr 2, 2008 by
Ashley from Champaign, IL
“The hotel was clean and nicely decorated. The rooms were a little small, including the very limited counter space in the bathroom. The bed was extremely comfortable though! It also seemed like our room was maybe missing a chair because one of the corners was really empty. Overall it was a nice hotel for our little 1-night stay.” Mar 25, 2008 by
Kathryn from Lakewood, OH
“We were given a room directly over the front entrance and just above a noisy street. For a weekend when nothing in town was happening, we could have been given a more comfortable room. In fact, I blame myself for not asking for another room. Also, the heater did not work correctly and it took a long time to cool a very hot, stuffy room (albeit in February). The Friday night staff was somewhat aloof and appeared fatigued. The Sunday morning staff who checked me out were very nice and helpful. The pool area was nice. The room service prices were outrageous (overly more than one might typically expect).” Mar 22, 2008 by
Cheryl from Broadview Heights, OH
“The staff was generally helpful but then I was only there to eat a late dinner sleep and leave early in the morning.” Mar 13, 2008 by
Robert from Pawleys Island, SC
“Friendly staff, nice remodeling job. Great location for downtown business.” Mar 7, 2008 by
Josh from Dayton, OH
“I was generally pleased with my stay.” Feb 20, 2008 by
Bob from Cncinnati, OH
“The hotel room was like a sauna - the heat couldn't be turned off - it was awful. Other people in other rooms complained as well - the staff told them they could bring them a fan? How about fixing the heat /air so it could be adjusted?” Feb 14, 2008 by
Dana from Reynoldsburg, OH
“My overall experience when staying in this hotel was a good one. I would stay there again when in Dayton.” Jan 27, 2008 by
Julie from Auburn Hills, MI
“Great for business or as a romantic getaway! Comfortable room with beautiful decor. Warm cookies upon arrival are a nice touch.” Jan 17, 2008 by
Lori from Houston, OH
“We pick this hotel on the prime fact that we could use the pool and hot tub and it did not work.” Jan 8, 2008 by
Jonathan from Stanton, MI
“Overall an acceptable hotel, but not at the price level that they charge. It seems like the housekeeping and maintenance staff is not as conscientious as they should be.” Jan 6, 2008 by
Rebecca from Minerva, OH
“For a 3 star hotel at least one restaurant should have been opened on New Year's day. Also parking was to much money.” Jan 2, 2008 by
Krist from Georgetown, KY
“Valet parking only choice, room was absolutely freezing upon arrival took 1 hour to warm and front desk staff did not care. Heater did not work and hotel in old building that was poor insulated. No close by dining, cone stores, etc.” Jan 1, 2008 by
Amy from Celina, OH
“Okay hotel, somewhat dated and elevator felt like it was going to break every time we got on it.” Dec 30, 2007 by
David from Brooklyn, NY
“Everything was just fine, except that the staff made a few confusing mistakes forgetting my credit card info (didn't charge me as much as a result) and putting noisy people right next to us in an otherwise empty hotel. Plus the hot tub didn't work.” Dec 27, 2007 by
William B. from Columbus, OH
“High winds kept us awake due to poor windows. Some of the renovations appear hurried and shoddy. Cleaning appeared inconsistent. Otherwise nice.” Dec 26, 2007 by
Jay from Cincinnati, OH
“Not what I had expected.” Dec 15, 2007 by
Cheryl from Broadview Heights, OH
“I ordered room service, which was a $5 minimum so I order soup ($3.50) and kids burger$5) and when the bill came it was almost $20! Plus the soup was unappetizing and greasy. They also did not make up my room on the second day, although they completed that task when I got to my room at 7 p.m.” Dec 13, 2007 by
Sam from Wheeling, WV
“There were 7 floors in this hotel and the ice machines on 6 of the 7 floors did not work. There were signs directing you to floors with working ice machines only to find signs on that floor directing you to another. It was like a treasure hunt. The shower filled up mid way up your calf in the course of a shower. It took about an hour to drain after each shower. The comforter on the bed had a foreign substance on it and was clear it had not been washed between guests. The whirlpool was out of order. The treadmills were only partially functional. The bar didn't have the ingredients to make a cosmopolitan. The waitress in the restaurant had a cold and was blowing her nose frequently and not washing her hands. We had to walk out of the restaurant.” Dec 12, 2007 by
Jamie from Beaver Dam, KY
“Overall I was very pleased with the hotel. The hotel was easy to find, valet parking was extremely convenient, the staff were more than helpful when we checked in and even helped us find a great place to eat close by, and the rooms were very comfortable and spacious. The bartender at the hotel bar was very friendly and courteous as well, and checkout was extremely simple the next day. The only bad point really is that many of the businesses close by were closed by 6 pm, which was somewhat inconvenient, but as I say, the staff were able to direct us to places that were within walking distance and open, so it was great all in all.” Nov 28, 2007 by
Tommy from Tupelo, MS
“I was very disappointed in this hotel. The hallways were freezing, the hot tub was broken for the first three days, the starbucks coffee was old two mornings, and the list could go on. However this was not a good hotel to be a three star. My wifes family lives in Dayton and if I ever get this hotel again I will do something different the next time. Thanks.” Nov 26, 2007 by
Valerie from Indianapolis, IN
“Overall, I like Double Trees; I just think this particular hotel must be a little older. It appears to have been renovated (new furniture, bathroom), the layout of the room was just strange was all.” Nov 21, 2007 by
Kris from Pawnee, IL
“The hotel was very beautiful, but could have been cleaner. My room was very dusty. Perhaps it had been empty for some time.” Nov 18, 2007 by
Jim from Reston, VA
“I wanted a room with two queen-sized beds and got a room with two double-sized beds, which was not that comfortable for sleeping two.” Nov 15, 2007 by
Andrea from Muscatine, IA
“This was a really nice hotel. Clean in the heart of downtown, felt safe and comfortable. Room I had needs more light. Nice amenities and not just cheap soap for bathrooms. Friendly staff and warm cookies upon arrival.” Nov 15, 2007 by
Kate from Ann Arbor, MI
“It was classy, and I got it for a very decent price. The rooms were super comfy and the bed was fantastic. I felt very taken care of.” Nov 15, 2007 by
Brian from Clermont, FL
“For a doubletree, it is extremely disappointing. However for my price it was fair.” Nov 14, 2007 by
John from Romulus, MI
“Nice renovation, good customer service, valet parking is what I didn't care for.” Oct 27, 2007 by
Kevin from Aurora, CA
“Excellent renovation. Great location.” Oct 26, 2007 by
Daytonflyer from Machesney Park, IL
“Very nice hotel but seedy area at night. Clean and comfortable. Parking should be included in price.” Oct 23, 2007 by
K from North Canton, OH
“The hotel staff was great, and we really liked having a king bed with a pull out couch for a little extra sleeping room. Also the microwave was a wonderful convenience. Overall, the hotel was nice, but I would have expected something a little more upscale.” Oct 22, 2007 by
Barbara from San Pedro, CA
“We were not too informed of locations in Dayton. The hotel is located in the heart of the city, which was perfect for us.” Oct 20, 2007 by
Linda from Oakland, CA
“We enjoyed the stay, just thought we were going to have a room with 2 queen beds, which I thought we had bit on, but instead we had one king bed. Because of prior commitments they were unable to accommodate this request. Location was good. Easy access to freeways. All personnel were accommodating and willing to make things right if they could.” Aug 21, 2007 by
Stephanie from Bonita Springs, FL
“The room was small, but fine. The hotel is not located in a very nice area and everything seemed to need repair. The vending machines, the hot tub, etc.” Aug 19, 2007 by
David from Lewis Center, OH
“Everything was fine except the room service food. I had a Cesar Salad with Salmon and it was terrible. I paid $10.00 for something I took three bites of.” Aug 1, 2007 by
Marty from Lebanon, OH
“Very nice hotel that I would recommend to a friend.” Aug 1, 2007 by
Peter from Prairie Vaillage, KS
“The Dayton doubletree was okay. The room was adequate, with a quite comfortable bed, and the desk clerk gave us a tip on a decent nearby restaurant. Even he knew the hotel's restaurant was lousy. We ducked in there for a second, and were greeted by a family dining there who suggested getting out while we could. There were messy dishes all over the place. A sign in front of the restaurant noted they are back probably after being closed due to health code violations. I wouldn't make any special effort to stay at this hotel.” Aug 1, 2007 by
Crystal from Lewistown, OH
“Was not pleased, especially for the price. I could have stayed at a Super 8 for the same price and had a better stay.” Jul 24, 2007 by
Richard from Miamisburg, OH
“My family had a wonderful stay at the hotel. The only real concern was the 7th floor outside window would open but not lock (which concerned us for our children). Overall though, my entire family loved our stay in the hotel.” Jul 19, 2007 by
James from Nashville, TN
“While in not so nice area with homeless people walking up and down the street. They charge $9.00 for parking, close the restaurant during the day on Saturday. Put me in a room with noise from an elevator that sounded like thunder and had ants!” Jul 4, 2007 by
Steve from Bloomington, IN
“Having to pay for parking starts me off badly with initial impression. Then, the desk staff, when I asked for a king size bed rather than 2 doubles, without even looking in the computer... and in a rude manner, told me none were available in the whole hotel, and reminded me our reservation was for double beds, even though we checking-in at 4 PM. Give me a break, this was downtown Dayton on a Friday. There was no in-room exercise equipment as advertised, and there was no exercise room or pool-(being remodeled?)-we were told we could go to the YMCA around the corner somewhere with a free pass they would provide at the desk. There were lots of renovation taking place with wet paint signs and little piles of dirt and debris here and there. The elevators were very slow and unresponsive forever, every time. However, the halls and rooms were fantastic-everything was very new and very clean and a cut above being merely beautiful and merely clean. The hallway and room decor was stunningly beautiful in some respects, but not over the top. The restaurant lunch menu (weekend edition?) was limited and the food was not up to par in taste, texture, appearance or timeliness...a little pricy, but not bad. Good coffee. We walked downtown Dayton and had no trouble after dark. (We walked around a lot...for 3 days!) We looked and only found one coffee joint (it was closed on Sundays) and no fine dining or upscale restaurants where we were downtown; however there was the occasional Chinese restaurant and pizza joint offering good food at reasonably low prices.” Jun 29, 2007 by
Cedric from Toledo, OH
“This was a very good hotel. It's downtown location was convenient to access other destinations but offered only valet parking. It would have been nice if it would have included a free continental breakfast. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay and I would recommend it to my family and friends.” Jun 16, 2007 by
Dj from Penfield, NY
“$9.00 for parking? What a rip-off. And the attendants looked as if they expected a tip.” Jun 8, 2007 by
Lisa from Sylvania, OH
“We had a nice stay being close to the soccer tournament we were going to. When we asked for dining suggestions we were not given much information but located nearby restaurants on our own. The pool was nice but looked like it could use some updating in this area.” Jun 7, 2007 by
Samantha from Farmersville, OH
“The room's amenities were nice, but it was a bit dark. Housekeeping was very nice.” Feb 7, 2007 by
Kieran from Pataskala, OH
“The hotel was nice and you can tell they are nearing the end of major renovations. The room, pool area, works out room, and public areas were all very nice. Valet parking appeared under-staffed and caused us to wait in very cold weather. Unfortunately a very nice hotel experience was ruined for us on Sunday morning. The hotel advertises a buffet and some guests meeting us at the hotel actually called to confirm the buffet times and food selections on Sunday morning. We had a large group meet us for breakfast and learned that even though we had confirmed it that morning; the restaurant had decided to not do a buffet. We adjusted to that and made selections from the regular menu but found the service to be downright awful! Several people also had to place another order when informed the kitchen didn't have the supplies to make "eggs benedict". Getting refills on coffee, juice, and water were slow, late, and only done after repeated requests. Likewise some family we had staying at the hotel informed us that they organized a meeting for a lot of people after a Saturday night wedding at the hotel bar. The bar inexplicably informed all the patrons in the bar that they were closing one hour early and rushed everyone out on Saturday night. We can't complain about the room itself but the restaurant and bar left a very bad taste in our mouth and we'd be hesitant to stay there again!” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Hotel Representatives:
