“While check-in was smooth and the lobby clean and quite nice, disappointment soon followed. The room was small and noisy. No refrigerator and the ice machine was broken on our floor. The closest ice machine was four floors up. The noise was from the HVAC units in the alley behind the building. Perks that are free at some other hotels cost $10 extra, internet access, parking, room with refrigerator. I have had these included at the same hotel chain south of town. Overall, I will not stay in Downtown Dayton again.” Aug 2, 2009 by
Michael from Dayton,OH
“A very nice hotel. Gives a classic look and feel. I'm not a fan of valet parking though.” Jul 4, 2009 by
Clara from Columbus,OH
“This hotel is a little older, but the facitlies are accommodating. It is located in the downtown area, but there is no really nice dining facility near by. We had to go onto the Interstate to find nice dining, Lonestar and Cracker Barrel, Walmart store etc. It was only about 10 minutes away.” Jul 1, 2009 by
Carrie from Springfield,OH
“Overall, very happy with stay. All staff was very friendly and helpful in an genuine way. Would recommend if you have to stay in Downtown Dayton.” May 21, 2009 by
Tom from Cumming,GA
“Great value and will look to return when in the Dayton area.” May 1, 2009 by
Pam from Naperville,IL
“I find it frustrating at most hotels as a rule that there is not a separate mirror outside the bathroom with an electrical outlet nearby, so that someone else can dry hair, do makeup, get ready, etc. while another is using the toilet/taking a shower. I think it would be a rather inexpensive feature to add to every hotel room during construction/remodeling, to provide an area for another person to get ready while another is using the bathroom.” Apr 15, 2009 by
Lisa from Franklin,KY
“Just to many things that were not quite right to enjoy the stay. Would not stay at this hotel again.” Mar 3, 2009 by
Mark! from Fort Wayne,IN
“Well even after the 3 fire alarms going off from about 4 am till 4:30 am, it was OK. The 4th alarm during breakfast was just over the top (swimming pool area I was told). Hotel rooms were a bit small. The front desk was very helpful. She was able to provide things I forgot while packing.” Dec 3, 2008 by
Denis from Summerville,SC
“From time of arrival, the temperature could not be regulated in the room (no thermostat) and the AC unit did not work. The only way to keep the temperature from raising was to open windows! This was not fixed for the entire length of our stay. The TV set did not work and was replaced after the first night and following our complaint; you would expect that it would have been checked and identified before our arrival. The bathroom was extremely small and the commode was loose. The building is old and not well maintained and so are the rooms.” Nov 12, 2008 by
Donna from Milford,MI
“Very nice and convenient downtown location, nice new rooms with old style feel. Quiet and clean. Just wish we didn't have to use valet parking only! We are spoiled by suburban hotel parking.” Sep 25, 2008 by
Craig
“The hotel was in a good location, not far from 75, clean rooms, warm cookies on check in, friendly staff and a pleasant place to stay.” Sep 17, 2008 by

“It was a good location. Had to pay to park, hotel on a one way street, bar and restaurant small. Compared to Marriot and Crown Plaza Hotel...go with Marriot.” Sep 12, 2008 by
Brian from Lafayette, IN
“The hotel is an older building re-fitted to be a modern hotel. The room was a very plain box and there was only one mirror in the whole room in the bathroom. The bathroom was very small and two people could not be in the bathroom at the same time. Two people would have a hard time getting ready at the same time.” Sep 10, 2008 by
Tonya from Mansfield, OH
“I enjoyed staying at the Doubletree Downtown Dayton. The beds were wonderfully comfortable and the rooms were allocated differently from any other hotel I have been at, which made for a more enjoyable stay. Overall, it was a great hotel.” Sep 10, 2008 by
Jerry
“I was pleasantly surprised by the hotel. I would rate it slightly higher than the 3 star rating. The staff was excellent. The room was very nice and very clean.” Sep 10, 2008 by
Khrys from Cincinnati, OH
“I really enjoyed my stay. The location was great seeing as how I had to do a show at the Schuster. I was comfortable. The housekeeping staff was nice. I left a tip but I don't think the correct housekeeper received it. (I should have taken her name). I don't like that valet was $9 a day. But! Meters were free all weekend. So I had no problems there.” Aug 20, 2008 by
Cindy from Barberton, OH
“The Pluses: The bed was super comfy with plenty of pillows. Location is very near UD. The indoor pool was fantastic - nice and warm with comfy lounge chairs. The minuses: The room "air" only had one temperature - cold! The bathroom was very small and tight with no separate area for sink/mirror. On our visit, the ice machine on our floor was broken. Our key was supposed to enable us to select our floor number (9) in the elevator, but it only did it the 1st time we used our key. We had to get new keys three times and had frustrating times trying to get to our floor! The restaurant is terrible and the bar is a joke.” Aug 18, 2008 by
Brett from Memphis, TN
“I received bad service at this hotel. The rooms were dark and moist and the air conditioner was not adequate. In addition, the telephones did not work in my room.” Aug 11, 2008 by
Brad from Mckinney, TX
“Good morning! I have just checked out of a hotel. Shortly after checking in, I stopped at the lounge for a quick drink (6 bar stools for a 12 story hotel. Great capacity!), then I asked the front desk for some dinner recommendations, to which I was pointed in the direction of the Oregon District 7 or 8 long city blocks away. I advised I would be walking. I quickly came to realize that this area had been abandoned with the exception of this hotel and city hall across the street. Within the first 3 blocks, 90% of the buildings were empty and many had either been boarded up the ones that were not simply had broken windows. I assume from where the city over run with homeless people get in. In fact, after looking again this morning, aside from the hotel itself, every other building on this block, on this side of the road has been abandoned! 5 blocks in, while minding my own business, I was approached by a City of Dayton police office who kindly asked if I was lost and strongly recommended that I eat at the hotel or drive to the Oregon District according to him. But from this experience I am highly unlikely to use your service again.” Aug 8, 2008 by
Ernie from Peachtree City, GA
“A sad place. Old beat-up hotel with staff to match. On my floor, there was a laundry room across from the elevator. Door was open, loud music was playing, housekeepers were arguing. No HVAC controls in room. Covered vent with pillow to reduce air conditioning. Beautiful bed but linens were dirty. There was one young lady at the check-in desk that was trying to make up for all the deficiencies. She was trying hard. Someone checked in for the concierge floor. She had to help him with the elevator because the card reader was not working. Assume someone has dreams of renovation and success. Hope they succeed.” Aug 6, 2008 by
Tom from Newton, IA
“Hotel is very nice and convenient. Room we had was beyond satisfactory.” Aug 5, 2008 by
Martin from Linden, MI
“Very nice room, large room, lots of space. I stayed at the Crown Plaza in Downtown Dayton 3 days earlier and I felt the Doubletree was much nicer.” Aug 4, 2008 by
Joe from Richmond, VA
“This hotel is built a 3+ star hotel. It is in a very removed area of downtown Dayton. Stay here only if you are ok with being a bit on the wrong side of the tracks.” Aug 2, 2008 by
Paul from Coldwater, MI
“Even with all the low watt lights on it was still dark. The room service over charged me and the food was cold and the toast was old. I do not like valet parking. I needed to stay 3 more nights.” Jul 31, 2008 by
Lee from Dayton, OH
“The Double Tree is one of the best hotels in Dayton.” Jul 28, 2008 by
Hiro from Carbondale, IL
“Overall, it is a good hotel to stay for a few days. I recommend it to business travelers considering the location and accommodation of what the hotel offers.” Jul 24, 2008 by
Marilyn from Holbrook, NY
“Hotel very clean and staff was friendly and helpful. But, there are hidden charges, such as a $10 per night parking fee. I felt parking should have been free.” Jul 23, 2008 by
Brian from Wheelersburg, OH
“The hotel was very nice as far as appearance. Be aware that there is a mandatory valet parking of $10/day. The people were not the friendliest that I've come in contact with. The air conditioning did not work in either one of the two rooms. They did bring us a fan after several requests. I complained at check out about the heat in the room and not getting any sleep. There was no restitution offered. I sent an email two days ago to the corporate office about the room and have yet to get a response from them. If they do not make it right, I will never stay at a double tree again. I travel approximately 30-40 nights per year. I was extremely unsatisfied with the room temperature. One bed should be a special request. I travel with children often. The room and hotel was very nice, but I am a cold air sleeper. I would not recommend this hotel based on that single issue alone.” Jul 18, 2008 by
Bob from Atlanta, GA
“Nice downtown property in Dayton.” Jul 7, 2008 by
Diana from Elida, OH
“I would strongly recommend this hotel. The staff was very helpful. The room was comfortable and pleasant.” Jun 30, 2008 by
Laura from Elyria, OH
“I feel that a good hotel to me offers free parking, a assortment of breakfast items for free or even late night snacks for free. I feel that my stay at Doubletree was overpriced and that they were out to charge you for anything I mean it is sad when I can get M&M's for 65 and Gatorade for 1.50 out of the vending machine and the from desk wants to charge me 4.65 for the same product. I would not stay at a Doubletree again.” Jun 15, 2008 by
Marian from Sanford, NC
“The people working at this hotel were very rude. I had a 85-year-old sister who was ill in Michigan.” Jun 5, 2008 by
Pam from Clarksville, OH
“Nice room, with updated furniture, nice shower, overall good value!” Jun 4, 2008 by
Karen S. from Carmel, IN
“Bed was comfortable, cleaning staff nice, desk person did not want to call a cab for us instead stated she normally just gives the guest a list of numbers. Good cookies. Hotel in need of renovations.” May 24, 2008 by
Michelle from Goleta, CA
“Fantastic bed. Crisp sheets, lots of soft pillows, featherbed. Warm chocolate chip cookie on arrival. Super friendly staff. If you want to sleep past 7 am, the street noise is a problem.” May 5, 2008 by
Marilyn H. from Brookings, SD
“This is the best kept secrete in Dayton, Ohio. I would highly recommend to all my peers, family and friends.” Apr 23, 2008 by
Lisa from Worthington, OH
“Excellent location w/all amenities as described. Lovely warm pool & wonderful soft beds.” Apr 6, 2008 by
Patty from Columbus, OH
“Good place to stay in Downtown Dayton.” Apr 2, 2008 by
Ashley from Champaign, IL
“The hotel was clean and nicely decorated. The rooms were a little small, including the very limited counter space in the bathroom. The bed was extremely comfortable though! It also seemed like our room was maybe missing a chair because one of the corners was really empty. Overall it was a nice hotel for our little 1-night stay.” Mar 25, 2008 by
Kathryn from Lakewood, OH
“We were given a room directly over the front entrance and just above a noisy street. For a weekend when nothing in town was happening, we could have been given a more comfortable room. In fact, I blame myself for not asking for another room. Also, the heater did not work correctly and it took a long time to cool a very hot, stuffy room (albeit in February). The Friday night staff was somewhat aloof and appeared fatigued. The Sunday morning staff who checked me out were very nice and helpful. The pool area was nice. The room service prices were outrageous (overly more than one might typically expect).” Mar 22, 2008 by
Cheryl from Broadview Heights, OH
“The staff was generally helpful but then I was only there to eat a late dinner sleep and leave early in the morning.” Mar 13, 2008 by
Robert from Pawleys Island, SC
“Friendly staff, nice remodeling job. Great location for downtown business.” Mar 7, 2008 by
Josh from Dayton, OH
“I was generally pleased with my stay.” Feb 20, 2008 by
Bob from Cncinnati, OH
“The hotel room was like a sauna - the heat couldn't be turned off - it was awful. Other people in other rooms complained as well - the staff told them they could bring them a fan? How about fixing the heat /air so it could be adjusted?” Feb 14, 2008 by
Dana from Reynoldsburg, OH
“My overall experience when staying in this hotel was a good one. I would stay there again when in Dayton.” Jan 27, 2008 by
Julie from Auburn Hills, MI
“Great for business or as a romantic getaway! Comfortable room with beautiful decor. Warm cookies upon arrival are a nice touch.” Jan 17, 2008 by
Lori from Houston, OH
“We pick this hotel on the prime fact that we could use the pool and hot tub and it did not work.” Jan 8, 2008 by
Jonathan from Stanton, MI
“Overall an acceptable hotel, but not at the price level that they charge. It seems like the housekeeping and maintenance staff is not as conscientious as they should be.” Jan 6, 2008 by
Rebecca from Minerva, OH
“For a 3 star hotel at least one restaurant should have been opened on New Year's day. Also parking was to much money.” Jan 2, 2008 by
Krist from Georgetown, KY
“Valet parking only choice, room was absolutely freezing upon arrival took 1 hour to warm and front desk staff did not care. Heater did not work and hotel in old building that was poor insulated. No close by dining, cone stores, etc.”
