• Location was easy to find.
• No supplies in bathroom.

“Hotel was grand with full restaurant and bar. Room was great with a lot of TV channels, which I liked because of poor health. Few amenities in my room. Hotel seemed to be a great place for a business meeting. I'd stay there again for the great price. Well satisfied.”

• The pool was small and not deep at all.

• A bit dingy and worn out. Some rooms with no windows to outside.

“Great location in Decatur, but the rooms are a bit dingy and depressing. Lobby is not too exciting either. Good enough if you are traveling on business for a short period of time.”

• Indoor pool cold and unusable, bad sheets & bedding.

“We loved this hotel because it's location and easy atmosphere. Friendly staff, great breakfast buffet, and free parking is a big plus. Rooms need new bedding but they do have down pillows upon request. Very comfortable accommodations. Only has an indoor pool that is very cold even in summer.”

• The staff was very friendly.
• The room smelled of mildew, and the carpet was wet.

“I was very unhappy with the accommodations because the room smelt of mildew and the carpet was wet. I ruined a pair of socks.”

• The price was very inexpensive.
• Amenities like cable & internet are poor. Overall the hotel needs updated decor.

“Pros: Good location with convenient walking distance to shops and restaurants, generally clean overall, spacious rooms, inexpensive per night rates. Cons: Charge additional fees for parking, parking garage does not seem secure, very few cable TV stations offered, internet access is so slow that it is basically unusable, indoor pool area is not clean or user friendly, no in-room fridge, general decor is dark and needs to be updated.”

• The staff was very friendly and helpful. We also enjoyed being in walking distance to restaurants and shops.
• The parking spaces were too small. No continental breakfast. Unable to get chicken noodle soup for my sick daughter.

• The staff was prompt and responsive when there was a problem with the TV in my room. When they couldn't repair it, I was moved.
• I wanted to shop in the gift shop but it was never open for business.

“It is convenient to the atmosphere of the old Decatur Square and not that far from the excitement of downtown Atlanta.”

• The beds are not very comfortable, especially the pillows.

“This is a great hotel for someone who does not want/need to stay in downtown Atlanta or buckhead. The Decatur area is charming, feels very comfortable and safe. I have stayed here before.”

• The hotel was not far from the holiday attractions and I loved that I could look out my room window and see the beautiful lobby.
• I can't think of anything that I did not like.

“This hotel sparked my attention from the time I was greeted at door on arrival until the time I checked out. The only thing I regret about staying at hotel is that I wasn't able to extend my stay.”

• Quality control for room cleanliness poor.

“Electronic keys quit after first night (seems to be the norm) requiring trip to front desk. Why is it no staff at any hotel apologizes for this inconvenience. Its almost as if they program that glitch as part of the stay. First night check in, chair in room is so dirty no one should sit on it and three lamps don't light up. Another trip to front desk with luggage.”

• Room had a musty smell, hard to control room temperature.

“Pretty good experience. Hotel seemed a little older and room smelled a little musty unless we opened windows. I wanted to do a load of laundry in the coin-operated washer but the front desk did not have any soap available to purchase. Staff were nice, some very much so.”

• Wireless access was useless! Worked only 10% of the time or less!

“Would have been ok if the wireless internet was working. My daughter was to take me out for the day and my husband was going to work on the computer. Needless to say that plan didn't work as he had nothing to do, so my day with my daughter for my birthday outing was ruined! Desk clerk was rude and we had to pay for parking at $7 a day which we did not figure on. Restaurant is not very adequate, wait staff extremely slow and unprofessional. May stay again, only because it is close to my daughters house.”

• Convenient to many Atlanta attractions.
• Not a very kid friendly place to stay, but fine for business travelers.

“This hotel, conveniently located in Decatur, GA provides convince when staying in the Atlanta area. We were able to go to all the major sights in downtown Atlanta via a short walk to the train station. Other sites were just a short drive away. The hotel was clean and well maintained. The pool area was a little run down and they charge extra for parking. The accommodations were excellent and the hotel lobby and common areas were very clean.”

• We loved the location - Fern bank was close to the hotel as well as many good places to eat!
• I felt kind of trapped inside the room and didn't really like the window looking over the lobby.

“The overall hotel was impressive. Although we didn't get to use the pool, it was very nice and clean. Parking so far away with a 2 year old was not ideal, but it was do-able!”

• Excellent location, comfortable accommodations.
• Parking fees $9/night.

“Older hotel, great location in Decatur. Room showing wear but clean. Great staff. Only complaint was the $9/night parking fee. This should be included in the price or at least shown as an add-on. WiFi is free and worked well. Hotel is surrounded by restaurants of many types/prices so there is no need to eat in the hotel itself. Would definitely stay there again.”

• NO natural light! The "window" opens to the atrium.

“The location is great. I could easily get to any part of Atlanta and downtown Decatur makes for a quick meal or nice stroll. The room was decently clean but everything in the room felt very old and worn. Worst part. The window opens to the atrium! No natural light in the room! This also means if the lobby/atrium/restaurant was loud, so was the room. I definitely did not think this hotel deserved three stars.”

• Staff was rude, fire alarm at 4 AM.

“This hotel was really struggling. There were not very many guests there. The front desk staff was very rude and unfriendly. There was a false fire alarm at 4 AM that lasted 15 minutes. A guy was getting busted by police in the lobby late at night, just before that. Other than that, the rooms were nice and the whole place was very clean.”

• Rooms were comfortable, electronics all worked, pool was good for kids.
• Free breakfast for kids is misleading; they only allow the child one food item.

“The buffet breakfast was good. Restaurant area is open and close to the front door so cold air came in frequently and cooled food down too fast. Kids breakfast was not free. We were glad they gave us a parking pass because it would have been expensive to pay to park per day. Rooms were comfortable overall but the double beds were too small. Would have preferred 2 queen beds. Option of down pillows was good. Bathroom was good with nice hot shower.”

• There was a wonderful staff who could help me regardless of what I needed.
• There was a hotel party in the lobby area and the music and noise could be heard in my room.

“Love the hotel and everything about it. The staff was friendly and everyone was very cordial. The rooms were neat and very well kept. Ideal placement for the area we were in as everything was in walking distance.”

• Friendly staff.
• The temperature in the room was not comfortable. We had maintenance in 3 times to work on ac system but it was never fixed.

“I will try this hotel again, but will make sure the air conditioning is working 100% before we unpack suitcases. The room was pretty, bed and pillows comfortable, but we can not say we enjoyed our stay because of the heat/ac system not working right. When we complained at the front desk, another hotel guest who was standing behind me spoke up and said her ac was also not working. Hope this isn't a problem in every room.”

“The hotel staff could not have been less helpful when it came to knowing information about what was available in the hotel. Holiday Inns for the most part should not be rated as 3 star hotels. My guest and I had to warm up some food and asked the concierge and they stated they advised us to ask the dining representative. We asked that person and they stated the microwave had been broken for months, for months!”

• The Lobby was the only thing 3 star about this hotel.
• The rooms smelled old and musky, the tile in bathroom was moldy and unclean. Sheets had a lipstick stain. Elevator smelled.

“This hotel should be considered a 2 star. It is old and dumpy, the lobby fools you into thinking it is classy. The 1st impression is the room doors- nice old rusty doorknobs with chipped paint. The room smelled old and musky, carpet turned my white socks black. Bathroom was moldy and dirty. Very few television channels. They charge you $7.00 to park when the public pays 5.00”

• The pool area was clean and the front desk person let me park for free since I was leaving so early.
• I was not greeted at the front desk when I came in I had to make the first gesture.

“It was a good deal for what I paid the hotel was a bit dated but clean enough the front desk people could have been a little friendlier but I was given free parking since I was going to leave so early in the morning.”

• I loved the location.
• No continental breakfast. Breakfast was 11 dollars!

“The Holiday Inn Decatur was the perfect location. It was two blocks from the Marta station, which took us downtown in 12 minutes. There were lots of small pubs and shops around, and a Starbucks a short walk away. The only negatives were that you had to pay for parking and there was no free breakfast offered (as with other Holiday Inns).”

• This hotel is definitely not a 3-star hotel based on my previous experience.

• Both microwave and refrigerator were in the room. Very important for my daughter's special diet.
• Entrance from parking garage seemed dirty and dingy. Pool looked like it needed cleaning. Too dark in the room.

“Very nice fitness room, with several machines. Well lit business (computer) room. Hotel staffs were very helpful and friendly. Overall impression is that it is past its glory days. Maybe needs new lighting or new carpet, or other updates.”

• Staff was very friendly. Very helpful when room was to cold.
• Room was to plan and only a chair to sit on besides sitting on bed. For the price should have had a couch or something else to sit on while relaxing.

“Staff was very nice when asked something very polite with their answers and for use staying in so many hotels this one had a great staff. Room needs a little help for people that want to relax and sit and watch TV. Sitting on the bed is not a relaxing thing. For the price they need to add a couch or a few relaxing chairs to their rooms for people that like to relax at the end of a busy day. But other then that it was a nice place to stay. If we should ever go back there we would stay there. I give the staff an A+.”
