  • Parking options limited; either valet (expensive) or garage with no in-and-out privileges

“Good value hotel, near Georgia Tech where we dropped off our older daughter. Hotel main areas were very attractive, the rooms were so-so. Breakfast was OK, not cheap. Ate in hotel because of time constraints, would probably eat out next time. Pool/gym was decent size”

  • The room was very nice with a view of the city.
  • The parking was way too expensive and they charged me everytime I left the $28 valet.

“I was very pleased with the experience of the hotel until I checked my credit card statement and had been charged nearly a $100 for parking. I was told that I was charged everytime I left and mind you this is for one night.”

  • Rooms were very nice and clean.
  • Paying to park, if you pay a rate for a room per night parking should be free.

“Our room was great. The hotel restaurant was a major plus, we ate lunch and the food was great and the price was even better. The only complaint that I had was the lack of free parking, you had to pay $28.00 a day to have your car parked, I had no choice could not find any meter parking close. I understand that everyone thinks this is a given in a big city but for the price of hotel rooms you should not pay to park your vehicle, this should be included with the over priced rooms. The lady working the night shift at the bar in the lobby, fabulous. If I owned a business I would hire her in a minute. Great personality and customer oriented.”

  • The decorum was very nice and classy. The room was nice as well - large enough for not being a suite.
  • I did not like having to pay for parking. The savings I got on priceline was reduced because I had to pay to park there.

“The hotel was very nice. It had an upscale feel to it. Although the room was not a suite it was nice a comfortable and decorated very well. I liked that it offered free internet access which is always useful for business travelers.”

  • It is close to the Georgia Aquarium and The Varsity restaurant.
  • The beds are too small for 2 people, the parking is too expensive, $28 per day, it is too noisy, located right beside a hospital emergency room.

“The parking was too expensive (28 per day). It is located next to a hospital emergency room and is very noisy, with sirens all day and night. The breakfast buffet is too expensive for the quality of the food in the restaurant at breakfast. We did not eat there for any other meal. The rooms are fine, but not 4 star. Beds are too small for 2 adults. It is close to the Georgia Aquarium and the Varsity restaurant is just around the corner. However, the Varsity is the only thing withing walking distance. Downtown and any attraction requires transportation. Overall, we would probably not choose to stay here again.”

  • Located in downtown. Room view was great.
  • Unhelpful staff (except housekeeping). No info about hotel in room, so had to keep calling the front desk.

“This hotel was not up to par for a Renaissance. No info about the hotel was given at check-in, (not even how to get to the elevators). For example: WiFi is free in the lobby/lounge, but costs $13.99 from your room; the hairdryer is in the closet; there is a pool (on the roof); hours of room service; room service menu; kiosk to print boarding passes is in lobby, etc. Staff told me they no longer leave an info book in the rooms, but did not know why. Gift shop items were priced like a theme park gift shop. Concierge was curt. Had to eat in the lounge because the restaurant closed 30 min early; food was mediocre. Bed was comfortable; room ceiling was peeling, but the view from the balcony was great; mold in bath tile; towels had hair in them; WiFi was extremely slow. There is a hospital nearby, so ambulance sirens are heard throughout the night. I have paid less than this for a much nicer hotel downtown in a major city (on Priceline). Very disappointing.”

“The hotel itself was really nice. We had a great view of Atlanta from our 22nd story balcony. The only bad things were the hotel only has valet parking which was too much in my book $28 per night and the ambulance sirens all night long.”

  • Large room, room service prompt, great view.
  • Had to tell housekeeping 4-5 times that I was checking out at noon. Continued to interrupt me and try to get into my room to clean. Parking.

“Good: Great location; large, clean room with really nice bedding and decor; great view with private balcony. Bad: Across the street parking: There were signs posted about recent break-ins that made me feel very uneasy and unsafe. The level I was in was very dark, even at noon when I left. Also, valet was $28 - too much.”

  • I liked that this hotel was easy to find as well as the view was great from any room.
  • It was a little noisy being right next to then interstate and the Emory Hospital Helicopter pad but you get used to it.

“The Renaissance in Downtown Atlanta is a great choice if you want to be close to everything downtown. It's a 5 minute cab ride to Phillips Arena and Nike Pavilion. It's in a safe enough area that if you just wanted to get out and walk around you could do so at most anytime. We went for a walk at 4am and it was wonderful.”

  • The amenities, like television, were pretty outdated.

“If you are a business traveler, this hotel is a good choice. The rooms are comfortable, if a tad out of date. Internet access is an add on to whatever deal you get, so keep that in mind. The in house restaurant was fair at best, the neighborhood is a bit sketchy but changing.”

  • Poor sound insulation - traffic noise.

“Hotel was clean, well appointed rooms and public areas. Windows were poorly insulated and did not keep out much traffic noise. Room had some maintenance issues like broken plug for high speed internet and thermostat display that did not work. Hotel has no parking of its own. It is close to a subway station however and not far from downtown.”

“The hotel and staff were friendly, however at 2:45 am the fire alarm went off, which was a false alarm. We had very noisy guests staying on both sides who yelled on their balcony to other guests until 4 am. Not only was the yelling and slamming of room doors bad but then someone decided they wanted to shot firecrackers off their balcony. It was not a pleasant stay with an 11 year old and a 3 year old.”
