“I enjoyed my stay and would highly recommend friends and family to go there and would stay there again!” Jul 6, 2009 by
Melanie from Hampton,GA
“This did not seem like a Holiday Inn, windows were not clean, they need to rebuild it because the building did not seem redone, and not worth the money they charge. Breakfast was cold and not worth the money. I would not stay here again.” Jun 23, 2009 by
from Sullivan,IL
“The lobby looked nice but the rooms needed some plumbing attention. The staff could a bit friendlier especially coming in the evening. Thought it would have a lot nicer.” Jun 9, 2009 by
Joseph from Herndon,VA
“The historic setting for this hotel is wonderful. The lobby, the dining facilities, the museums, and rose gardens in the court yard are all incredible. All of the rooms in the building we stayed in overlooked the pool, and were furnished quite nicely. This was far more than I expected when I booked the room.” Apr 2, 2009 by
Annemarie from Montgomery,AL
“The hotel could be a real gem but it is looking a little tired around the edges. The staffs were friendly and attentive. I was disappointed with the restaurants - the chicken dish I chose was raw in places, the breakfast buffet did not included coffee or orange juice and there was no choice of freshly cooked eggs.” Mar 2, 2009 by
Bill from Greer,SC
“The hotel is safe but the neighborhood around it is not. There is security to handle the situation.” Feb 25, 2009 by
Clarence from Atlanta,GA
“I enjoy staying at the Choo Choo on a regular basis. Their amenities are above average, including some tourist-y attractions due to the historic nature of the site. My sole complaint is that there is no heated walkway between the various buildings.” Feb 23, 2009 by
Austin from Memphis,TN
“The Holiday Inn Choo Choo, was very nice. It was clean, the staff was friendly and the restaurant (& live entertainment) was great.” Feb 19, 2009 by
Wade from Atlanta,GA
“Great value. The swimming pool outside our room was larger than most hotels. Of course we didn't use it in Feb.” Jan 19, 2009 by
Marsha from Marietta
“Our room was 50 degrees when we checked in and after turning the heat up all night the temperature was 60. This was mainly because the heaters in the hallway was either broken or turned off and the room had a large sliding glass door. The upside was our diet cokes stayed cold just by placing them next to the door. We could actually see our breath in the hallway. The beds had two sheets and a very thin, light weight comforter. We requested three blankets and the staff sent two, one of which was full of holes. Also, the entrance doors to the building do not require a key so anyone can enter at anytime. The hotel is not in the best area of town so we were very nervous about the doors. The bathroom was not clean, the shower was either too hot or too cold and the toilet required two flushes.” Dec 3, 2008 by
Angel from Mcdonough,GA
“Neat location in downtown Chattanooga although it's further from the main attractions than other hotels in the area. The buildings are old and even though we stayed in building 3 which is the most recently remodeled building, it's not a top quality room as compared to the other downtown hotels. Oct 13, 2008 by

“The hotel claims to be what it is not. It is located in a bad part of town far away from the tourist attractions of Chattanooga. The rooms need deep cleaning. The air is muggy and smells on mold, except in the hallways where I think they use the same type of airfreshiner as funeral homes. I was scared to use the shower with bare feet. I would compare this hotel to a motel 6 or super 8.” Sep 25, 2008 by

“The staff was very friendly. The public spaces were beautiful. We especially loved the water, pool, hot tub, & waterfall areas. The lobby had a gorgeous high ceiling. The train station was cool and it was neat seeing this historic site. We were, however, disappointed with our room. The bed was too firm and uncomfortable. We didn't sleep well because of this and we woke up with our backs hurting the next day. There was no refrigerator in the room. It was our anniversary and we brought drinks we wanted to chill. Also, we had a very difficult time finding our room. The receipt we were given had a cryptic 10 digit or so alphanumeric character on it & we spent quite some time lugging around our heavy luggage looking for the room. We had to eventually find hotel staff who gave us directions to our room. The restaurant inside the hotel was overpriced and not that good. We ate breakfast there for $9.75 each and the food tasted as if it had been sitting there a while. We won't stay at The Choo Choo again.” Sep 23, 2008 by

“Spent 4 nights in building 2 it was nasty, stunk of mild smoke etc. Pool was cold and looked dirty, didn't use it because it looked so nasty. Then spent 1 night in building 3. It was like going to a whole different hotel chain. The room was very nice, pool looked great, even different TV channels in building 3. I really like the ease of hotel food, shopping & bus that was free to take around town. When the renovation is done, this would be a great place to take your kids if they love trains. We are hoping to return next year and see how the renovations worked out. If you go ask to be in building 3. If you don't get in building 3 then go there to go swimming, kind of a lazy river looking pool with hot tub in middle and a water fall.

“The hotel was perfect for any traveler. The renovations that are yet to be completed, were great and it appears will make it even better once completed. I would love to visit them again.” Sep 11, 2008 by
Mark from Alcoa, TN
“This is a very old and run down hotel. The front desk tried to make it better, but the whole place is run down. I hope you really read this note.” Sep 10, 2008 by
Miriam from Tucker, GA
“Was located near free shuttle, very travel friendly, good value, historic but well maintained, however, some furnishings looked worn and tired.” Sep 10, 2008 by
Wayne from Atlanta, GA
“Nice place. Great theme right on the shuttle line into downtown.” Sep 10, 2008 by
Kim from San Antonio, TX
“If you like trains, this is the hotel you must stay in. The lobby is an old Chattanooga railway hall. A handful of rail passenger cars have been converted into modern hotel rooms. Along the sidewalk are gas lights. Dinner in the dining car is reasonably priced.” Sep 10, 2008 by
Sharon from Euharlee, GA
“I love it!” Sep 8, 2008 by
Al from Birmingham, AL
“I loved the atmosphere and the pizza train was great with a very friendly cook. Our room was never cleaned. I called and they were not helpful or very friendly and sent someone while my son was napping, which I specified was not a good time. I called again and they said they would try but didn't have but one cleaner after 4 p.m. We had two rooms and one had ants. My son loves trains, so I will probably give them another try.” Sep 7, 2008 by
Tracy from Rome, GA
“Where to start. Great idea for a hotel, beautiful pool areas, huge rooms what should be a comfortable family friendly location. Instead it is very worn around the edges, Spartan furniture, no mattress pad, flat pillows, threadbare towels, air conditioner had leaked and soaked the carpet yet they didn't offer to move me, the engineer had to move me when he saw the condition of the room. Very disappointed with this property.” Sep 5, 2008 by
Jack from Clifton Park, NY
“Hotel is unique, as it was the Chattanooga Train Station, converted into hotel, with trains wagons used as restaurants. Its mainly good for family with kids, as it had several pools. The exercise room need an upgrade badly, as 2 of the 5 machines were not functioning, & the functioning ones seemed from 1980.” Sep 4, 2008 by
Beth from Athens, TN
“It has three buildings and the one we stayed in smelled as if it had been closed up a lot. The pool was full of debris and the paint in the bottom of the bath tub was peeling and coming up. The water in the shower took over 15 minutes to drain after a 5 minute shower.” Sep 3, 2008 by
Stephanie from Starkville, MS
“It's very family friendly. Indoor pool was great and grounds nicely kept. Did have a musty smell and the beds were quiet hard. But, overall we really enjoyed our stay.” Aug 31, 2008 by
Jeannie from Jonesborough, TN
“Nice clean room, beautiful gardens, historical trains, friendly and helpful staff.” Aug 28, 2008 by
Travis from Pelham, AL
“This hotel, while old, is nice. I've stayed in better and I've stayed in worse. The hotel is unique. The main lobby has a lot of historical architecture. The hotel cafe has good coffee. The gardens are nice to hang out in. The hotel staff was very friendly and went out of their way to help me.” Aug 22, 2008 by
Mike from Evansville, IN
“Neat theme with the trains. Right next to free downtown shuttle. Very friendly staff.” Aug 21, 2008 by
Ken from Buchanan, GA
“Having stayed at the Choo-Choo several times, I am always pleasantly surprised upon my return. The gardens are always nice, the staff excellent, and there are many things to do at the resort. The pools (while cold) offer things for the kids, while the adult sections are nice (when they are open). Best of all is the convenience, most areas of Chattanooga have pay-parking only, by staying at the Choo-Choo, you have free parking and are steps away from the main shuttle terminal for CARTA, Chattanooga's free shuttle service to all the downtown attractions, restaurants, etc.” Aug 21, 2008 by
Deborah from Easton, PA
“This would be great place to have taken my children when they were younger. The sleep cars would have had a great appeal to them. The transportation to other attractions was free and readily available. I would recommend eating away from the hotel as the wait staff is very poor and not very friendly. Getting your first cup of coffee with breakfast takes over twenty minutes and forget ever getting a second cup.” Aug 20, 2008 by
Tim from Commerce, GA
“Check in and out was easy. Door to building we stayed in was supposed to require key to enter but would not close. Carpet in lobby and hallways was worn out. Panels were partially torn off the elevator doors, wood paneling in the hallways had sections gouged out and carpet and walls were in disrepair. In the drapes would not close to cover the window. Laying in bed you could watch people walking in to the building in the mirror, meaning they could watch you as well. I had to lean the ironing board against it for privacy. There was evidence of a 2-3 foot wide section of wall that was seriously damaged behind the wallpaper looking like there was a hole behind the paper. You had to hold the handle down for about 30 seconds to get the toilet to flush properly. If I had planned to stay more than one night I would have found other accommodations. This Hotel was supposed to be a 2.5 star rating which is what you give to Marriott Courtyard down the street. There was no comparison between the two.” Aug 20, 2008 by
Janna from Union City, GA
“We only stay here when we are in town just to go to the restaurants they have. We could stay some place else but we would have to drive to the other hotel so we just stay here and walk back to the room plus they have an indoor pool for rainy days.” Aug 19, 2008 by
Lindy from Lawrenceville, GA
“This hotel has 3 buildings. Buildings 1 and 2 are old and musty. But, building 3 is new and definitely the one that rates 3 star. Only ask for building 3 to be happy with your stay at this Holiday Inn Chattanooga Choo Choo.” Aug 19, 2008 by
Garrett from Grove City, OH
“The Holiday Inn Chattanooga Choo Choo was a really exciting place to stay because it had a lot to look at with the train cars and shops and dome in the lobby. It was also well placed to explore down town Chattanooga on the free electric shuttle.” Aug 19, 2008 by
Venkata from Chattanooga, TN
“Worst hotel I have ever stayed in.” 0 of 1 people found this review helpful.Aug 18, 2008 by
Anne from La Vergne, TN
“Nice comfortable hotel with lots of amenities. Food was ok not exceptional. Hotel was nice with Victorian woodwork; Unfortunately they had covered some of it with makeshift offices which detracted from the ambience. The ground was attractive but the outer perimeter really needs work. If you ride the trolley, the scenery is way lacking. Over all we had a nice visit, friendly helpful staff and very restful visit.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Aug 17, 2008 by

“I've worked and stayed at this hotel previously. The hot tub was lukewarm, and the pools too cold - they have three swimming pools.” Aug 15, 2008 by
Karen from Buckhead, GA
“I was wonderfully surprised with the 14 acres of land, and thrilled that I got the nicest hotel. I would love to go here again. Some rooms were in train cars, there were shops and flower gardens everywhere. The lobby was an old train station. I felt like I had gone back in history and did not want to leave.” Aug 14, 2008 by
Bryan from Acworth, GA
“The hotel has a great concept and kids like it. Being an adult this hotel needs some serious renovations especially for the price. I do like the idea of having a pool side bar. The staff was extremely nice.” Aug 14, 2008 by
David from Greenbrier, TN
“Overall this is a wonderful hotel, especially for families. It is also good for someone in Chattanooga for business. Excellent WIFI (in the rooms only). The breakfast buffet is not very good.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Aug 13, 2008 by
Ty from Herrin, IL
“The lobby is beautiful, but did have sort of a musty smell. The rooms were very comfortable and plenty of room for 3 adults. The pools were easy to access, although the indoor one had a strong smell of chlorine.” Aug 12, 2008 by
Steve from Crescent Springs, KY

“Nice stay overall. Musty in the lobby and definite age on the buildings. But, room in building 3 was refurbished and nice. Food was decent and gardens were nice. Location was very good for free trolley.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Aug 11, 2008 by

“The transit system was very convenient. Also the hotel was very historically beautiful. We appreciated the large, well maintained garden area. Our room was very nice and all members of the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again as well as recommend it to others.” 0 of 1 people found this review helpful.Aug 7, 2008 by

“The hotel lobby smelled as though a sewer line broke in the building. The rooms and common areas are in need of a good cleaning and some paint. The staff was friendly.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.
