“ The rooms are very updated and modern. The amenities are top notch. Very upscale and would not have an issue with recommending to anyone. ” Feb 18, 2010 by
Rosalyn from Sioux City,SD
“
That fact that it's a historic building is interesting. But the front desk staff at check-in did not know how to deal with my complaint of the pool not being open, even though I called the day before to verify. And they could have been more welcoming and informational in general - this is hospitality, after all. That would be my biggest complaint. Overall, for our one night stay, it met expectations.

“This hotel was much nicer than I expected and I got a great price on priceline. Only issue was I was not expecting to pay for parking $15. Luckily street parking was available but limited for free at night.” Feb 5, 2010 by
Carmen from Olney,MD
“ There are hidden fees that make this hotel ridiculously expensive. Take the price of the room, add $29 a day per vehicle to park. Add 7.95 fee for internet/fitness center per room per night. Add $15 "upgrade fee" if you happen to need two beds. Now this hotel is not a good deal at all. I have over $200 in excess charges. ” Jan 11, 2010 by
John from Gainesville,FL
“Wonderful location in town. Rooms are a great bang for your buck.” Nov 3, 2009 by
Julie from Lilburn,GA
“After reading some of the reviews, I was pleasantly surprised by our visit. The front desk staff was very friendly. Since my husband has asthma, I called ahead and asked for a pet-free room. When I arrived at the hotel they had already also removed all down feather items from the bedding! The beds were still just as plush and comfy. Our room was updated, clean and quiet. We did have to pay the $15 to park, but bell service was free and the valets were very quick with their service. The pool area was clean, the pool was heated and our boys loved the waterfalls. Great experience!” Oct 30, 2009 by
Lynne from Smyrna,TN “Security guard woke me out of my sleep at 5 am on the last day of my vacation about a noise complaint this in turn ruined an otherwise nice experience. The security guard had the personality of a brick and should have used better judgement.” Oct 28, 2009 by
Paula from Union City,TN
“Great location and lovely ambiance.” Oct 26, 2009 by
Con from Louisville,KY
“This is our 4th time staying at this hotel, and I must say our room was the cleanest it has ever been. We were quite pleased. We only stayed one night however, we will be back in the future.” Oct 11, 2009 by
Wanda from Stuart,FL
“The closet was huge, with a dresser in it!, but the bathroom with its pedestal sink, had no place to set toiletries. Breakfast was only for Starwood Club platinum members, but staff recommended local eateries closeby. Pool had NO bathrooms/shower areas for changing out of bathing suits, but we could use bathroom (no shower) close to fitness room. Good fitness room.” Oct 6, 2009 by
Olivia from Marietta,GA
“Lovely hotel! Great architectural details and history, very convenient location, easy parking across the street (did have to pay for it, but space was good all weekend), and comfy bed linens. The pool was indoor but not great -- small and shallow. Overall, though, great experience. I would definitely stay there again!” Sep 28, 2009 by
Becky from Dalton,GA
“The hotel was clean, nice and very comfortable.” Sep 24, 2009 by
Kenyatta from Fairburn,GA
“The hotel was okay I expected a little more for the star rating I have stayed at other hotels where that level of star was much more elegant.” Sep 24, 2009 by
Mary from Saltillo,MS
“The hotel lobby was beautiful. It had all the old world charm of the original building but with modern conveniences. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I was very pleased with the room. The bedroom had a flat screen TV and a comfortable bed. I received a wonderful deal using Priceline! We were actually in a suite once we arrived. It had a separate sitting area with a 2nd TV. My husband could watch the games while I watched something else. It was a perfect setup.” Sep 21, 2009 by
Susie from Murfreesboro,TN
“Great.” Sep 14, 2009 by
Spencer from Miami Beach,FL
“The room was huge and the lights were on for me. Very comfortable.” Sep 2, 2009 by
Sybil from Bullard,TX
“The room was great and the parking attendant was very helpful.” Aug 29, 2009 by
Michelle from Whitewater,WI
“The Read House is a gorgeous hotel in the middle of downtown Chattanooga. The beds are soft and the living area with desk is lovely. The pool is attractive and we appreciated the free internet use in the business center.” Aug 28, 2009 by
Mitchell from Owensboro,KY
“The lobby of this hotel is quite grand. And the room was nice as well. The trash can under the desk was not emptied out, but it was not a big deal. The TV remote is slow and you have to do your button pushing in one and a half second increments or you might not get the desired affect. I also did not like the fact that parking is $15 dollars a night, and is not included in the price of the room. But I had read that in a review before I booked, so I was prepared. Overall though my dislikes are less than my likes.” Aug 26, 2009 by
Amy from Kimberly,WI
“Room was super! Plenty of room, clean, awesome.” Aug 16, 2009 by
Meta from Duluth,GA
“Location was excellent. Very good if you are a tourist. It was within walking distance of a lot of resturants. There was also a stop for the free electric bus right across the street; which was very convenient. The valet staff was very helpful. The Starbucks coffee in the room was good. The price was right and I would stay there again in a heartbeat.” Jul 22, 2009 by
Ryan from Hanson,KY
“I was very disappointed in this hotel. The worst part was being forced to pay $15/day for valet parking having no reasonable alternative parking. They said you can park on the street at the meters. The meters only let you stay there for a max of 2 hours! There's parking garages all over the place but they charge you at least $6 overnight to park. Secondly the place was a maze to get around. The front desk didn't say what elevators to go up so we went up the main elevators and after walking all over on the floor we were unable to find our room. We had to go back down and ask the front desk, and the elevators that went to our wing was on the opposite side of the building clearly not obvious to a traveler staying there for the first time. Lastly they would not give you a cart to bring your things down. They expect you to call for their service and give them a tip in order to use their carts to get your luggage up and down from the room.” Jul 5, 2009 by
Joe from Manchester,KY “We were so looking forward to going to Chattanooga. My wife's aunt passed away and her wake was the day we were supposed to check in. The other hotel we had in Stone Mountain were gracious enough to let us reschedule.” Jul 3, 2009 by
Wanda from Cookeville,TN
“The hotel and room was gorgeous, historic, and comfortable. The night shift staff was very friendly and helpful from housekeeping to front desk and bell boy. The pool was gorgeous but to hot and stuffy to be refreshing. The day shift staff bell boy and valet service were borderline rude on departure. The biggest unexpected cost was $15 per day for parking plus tips to valet.” Jun 24, 2009 by
Abbie from Spring Hill,TN
“The Sheraton was nice enough. I didn't have high expectations and was happy with what we got for what we paid. There was nothing spectacular about our stay. The staff was nice enough. The hotel was clean, the room and bathroom were clean. The bed was much too soft and we did not sleep well in it, but that's more of a personal preference. Hallway noise sounded like it was in the room, but that's because others weren't as considerate as they could have been. Shower was hot and had great water pressure. The location was not within walking distance to the river if you have children with you, but it was fine for adults. The steakhouse was tasty, not really worth the money though. At first glance the cosmetics of the lobby and room appeared much nicer than it did once you spent any time in it. Drywall, paint, and things of this nature seemed to be touched up without much careful attention. Overall our stay was nice. Nothing exceeded our expectations, but I don't suppose anything fell short either.” May 26, 2009 by
Stephen from Albertville,AL
“The hotel experience was wonderful with the exception of the valet parking. They charge you $15/day or you can choose to park outside at a meter.” May 13, 2009 by
Gayle from Plymouth,MA
“This hotel was a pleasant surprise as we were staying two nights to attend a wedding and see as much of the family as possible. The bed was very comfortable so once we hit the pillow, we were treated to a good nights sleep!” Apr 20, 2009 by
James from Cincinnati,OH
“Overall, the hotel was excellent.” Apr 1, 2009 by
Remy from Stuarts Draft,VA
“Historic hotel, well within walking distance of many attractions in Downtown Chattanooga. Easy on and off access to the highway. The best part was how it made you feel being there. It felt safe and warm just like home but more interesting!” Mar 30, 2009 by
Ron from Exira,IA
“Verey nice room, comfortable and large.” Mar 25, 2009 by
Bree from Acworth,GA
“Very nice.” Mar 4, 2009 by

“We found the hotel to be excellent. Everything from the bathroom tiling to the luxury bed was great.” Feb 5, 2009 by
Kris from Nashville,TN
“Hotel was great and I have stayed there before. This time though the air conditioning did not work. I did not stay long enough to have a chance to say something to the staff that would have fixed the situation as we left early the next day. I did not have a comfortable sleep that night.” Feb 3, 2009 by
Brian from South Pittsburg,TN
“Stay here.” Jan 28, 2009 by
Matt from Jefferson City,TN
“Hotel was very clean and great location in the downtown area. Many local activities within very short driving distance. Overall great for me and the wife's getaway weekend.” Jan 28, 2009 by
Jed from Daytona Beach,FL
“The Read House is a beautiful old hotel with modern amenities right in the middle of the downtown area. The beds are very comfortable and the workspace is generous. The rooms have flat screen TVs and free wireless access. The gym is well equipped for a hotel.” Jan 15, 2009 by
Amanda from Taylorville,IL
“I was very impressed with my stay at the Sheraton Read House. It was conveniently located for our trip home to Illinois and the Cafe across the street was wonderful. You could not have asked for a more helpful staff, luxurious rooms, or the style and furnishings of a lovely southern hotel. To boot, there was a lovely Starbucks inside the hotel as well. Two thumbs up!” Jan 14, 2009 by
Jason from Goldsboro,NC
“This was a nice hotel with a very friendly staff.” Jan 14, 2009 by
Charlie from Anniston,AL
“This historic hotel is in a great location. Walking distance to almost everything. The free electric shuttle bus stops right out front. Staff is very friendly. Room service is fast, and a great value. Clean, quiet, cozy rooms, and one of the best beds I've ever slept in. Keep the drapes open slightly or you will sleep till noon!” Jan 2, 2009 by
Mike from Warsaw,MO
“The hotel was beautiful. The decor and feel of the hotel is very retro. Everything is steeped in history. The rooms were very nice, with a large comfortable bed and a sitting room with a pull out couch for the kids. The first room had a dirty bathroom but the front desk offered us another room and it was wonderful. The valet and front desk personell were very helpful and offered directions and coupons to local hot spots. The hotel also had a starbucks and a nice steakhouse. I would stay here again and plan to.” Dec 25, 2008 by
Robert from Indigo,AL
“We have stayed at the Read House numerous times; this is the second time we had problems. The first was construction noise, the second was a shower where the water would get hot for 30 seconds or so and then get ice cold. It would take about that long for the water to get hot again. It took 20 minutes to take a five minute shower. The hotel is not being properly maintained and is beginning to have a run down appearance.” Nov 9, 2008 by
Steve from Chicago, IL
“During our recent stay at the Sheraton Read House we encountered the following problems; we were denied bell service and help with our luggage and other items which led to us having to carry our own things to our rooms in multiple trips. Random rude security and banquet people kept barging into our private function trying to get us to sign a bill for the service (or lack there of) that we had received. A security person (worthless) actually busted into the private function room without knocking and hit a guest with the door, did not apologize and then left with no explanation. The only service we received was a cork screw for the wine so apparently the Sheraton Read House charges $50.00 for a cork screw. We took these problems up with a manager and were given excuses instead of solutions; I wish I had that hour of my life back. In closing, do not stay here; don't waste your time and money on old rooms and horrible service.” Jul 2, 2008 by
Missy from Albany, GA
“The hotel was very nice; the bed was extremely comfortable. The staff upgraded us to a suite after they were informed, upon our arrival that the duvet had make-up on it and the toilet didn't work well. The response was quick and pleasant. The stay was quiet and very enjoyable. I would stay there again.” Jun 4, 2008 by
Todd from Cumming, GA
“This was a beautiful very clean hotel. I stayed in the older side of the hotel. The only issue was the air conditioning system did not cool the room down enough or take all of the humidity out of the room. My stay was only one night.” Apr 30, 2008 by
Charles from Boaz, AL
“Nice hotel located perfectly for enjoying Chattanooga. It's a few blocks from Aquarium and other attractions. Just far enough to be out of huge crowds. Free city shuttle stop at hotel. You drive your car into the building and valets park it. It never took more than two minutes to get car back when needed. All in all a very convenient and pleasant hotel.” Jul 27, 2007 by
Karyn from Montgomery, AL
“The hotel was very beautiful and lovely. I wish I had planned to stay another night. The staff provides good directions for the area attractions.” Jun 20, 2007 by
Michael from Rome, GA
“Very nice, parking cramped would stay there again.” Jun 1, 2007 by
Kassi from Las Vegas, NV
“Loved the old historic feel.” May 30, 2007 by
Caleb from Lafayette, IN
“Our room was not ready when we were ready to check in so the clerk upgraded us to a Junior Suite. It was a very nice and spacious room. The bed was comfortable and the other furniture looked very nice although we did not have much time to spend in the room. The lobby was very nice looking and there is a Starbucks in the hotel, which provided a nice option for a quick breakfast. Valet was the only parking option other than street parking, but the price was very reasonable with in and out privileges.” May 17, 2007 by
Lonnie from Trussville, AL
“Excellent location, close to everything downtown. Starbucks is next door. Beautiful facility, excellent service except for bellman. Would definitely recommend.”
