• The room service food was great.
• Everything else.

“My CD player didn't work, I almost busted my head in the shower 2-3 times a day, cause there was no slip mattress! The breakfast wasn't served until 6:30, when every other hotel serves at 6. Out of 8 ice machines in the hotel(2 on each floor), only 1 worked! Valet was never around. Highly flaunted sleep system was 1 pair of cheap ear plugs, a 1 size does not fit all blind, and lavender spray for your pillows that smelled like alcohol. The pillow top bed was an old bed with a pillow top put on it. I had a much much better stay at holiday inn express.”

• The food was great and the room service girl was very friendly.
• Could hear room next to us, internet was down for hours, room was not clean and broken light bulb.

“Moved from first room - could hear next room very clearly. Large hair was left in the trash from previous guests and shattered light bulb in the nightstand light. Internet worked for first 4 hours of stay, went down for several hours. Front desk told us to call ISP tech's 800#. Spent 45 minutes on the phone for some guy who barely spoke English to tell me it was an Ethernet cable problem. Waited another 15 minutes for a new cable, and surprise, still didn't work. (Several other guests complained in the morning of same problem). My only positive of my stay - the food was amazingly good and the room service girl was very friendly and helpful.”

“My daughter had an allergic reaction in the room due to black mold in the bathroom. It was visible and horrible. It was not up to standards that I expect from a major chain.”

• Nice and comfortable for a short stay.
• No continental breakfast - the shuttle driver on 8/10 (mid morning) was not friendly and had no personality, the one on 8/23 (after 3 pm) was much better!

• The indoor/outdoor pool is a hit with children.
• There was a cat show at the hotel that I was unaware of.

“A cat show was there and there were cats in the elevator, cats in the lobby, cats everywhere. Although the hotel is usually above average, this caused terrible allergy issues.”

• Not close to Grand Rapids downtown attractions.

• Room smelled like smoke. Baseball tournament in town, way too many children in pool without supervision.

• The hotel headquarters changed our rooms to nonsmoking 2 beds.
• There was a new girl who was not solution-oriented and the manager checkout day was not people or woman friendly.

“We loved that we got adjoining rooms overlooking the pool. The furniture in the room was lovely and a very nice hotel overall. The water pressure in the shower was great and a nice big closet and large dresser drawers. The pool is large and you can swim from the inside to the outside pool. The gym and pool hours are 5 am to midnight, I believe - great when you get back late from a business meeting.”

• Room was a little older looking but spacious just needs a little updating.

• Horrible beds! Rock hard. No internet access in rooms too far away from lobby.

“Hotel looks dated from the outside but is clean inside. The beds and pillows were horrible. It's hard to find this poor of quality as far as beds and bedding are concerned these days. Part of the hotel claims to be remodeled. Claim to have wireless access in all rooms, but if you're too far away from the lobby in your room you can't get any service. Had to do my work in the lobby. Really disappointing since you can stay at the Hilton down the road for just a bit more but it is a million times better!”

“On a previous stay at this hotel, the power went out. The emergency lighting was not good. However, the people at the front desk were very helpful. You just had to navigate dark hallways and stairwells without any good light.”

“The Crown Plaza Hotel is a great hotel for business travelers and families. The hotel offers an indoor/outdoor pool that is fabulous and they also have free wired high-speed internet in the rooms. Close to all attractions in Grand Rapids and a good variety of restaurants close by, I would highly recommend this hotel to all travelers.”

• The bathroom had some mold and needed updating.

“I was very pleased with this hotel. It was easy to find and well-kept. It had a nice pool area. I felt very safe and the staff was friendly. I would recommend the hotel to my friends.”

• No hot water, Tub filled up with water while showering.

“I had to shower in cold water because the hot water would not work! While having to take a freezing cold shower the tub filled up with water mid way between my knee and ankle and would not drain out. Due to this I was late to my business meeting and over all had a horrible experience and will never stay there again!”

• I loved the room and the comfortable chair. I loved that the focus of the room was not the TV. I also liked that there was room to visit with family.
• I didn't like the restaurant. It was very expensive. They had a breakfast buffet, but if you didn't want anything that big, there were few choices.

“The hotel and it's public spaces were beautiful. Although we did not use the pool area, people were always in there and it looked like it was a lot of fun. Our room was beautiful. The bed was so comfortable, it usually takes us until the second night to sleep well in a hotel room, but that was not the case. We slept so well, even the first night. The halls were also quiet. It was a wonderful place to stay. Also, the room was very clean. I really appreciated that.”

• It was clean but it's haggard looking, needs much updating.
• The pool was ice cold and loaded with kids.

“The pool is ice cold. We like this hotel but on this visit they were having a kid's birthday party and the pool room was packed full of kids, and kids running up and down the halls. They were very loud. We could not enjoy the hot tub because the pool room was packed with kids. Also there was a funny smell in the hall ways. To me it smelled of a kerosene heater with a bad wick in it.”
