• Friendly staff, good location, excellent breakfast bar.
• Poor craftsmanship in construction details: Bathroom counter tops, wood trim, misfit doors.

“Holiday Inn Express is my preferred hotel with consistently high quality and comfort. This one is not as nice as most, even though it's a relatively new building. I booked a king room, but there were none available at check in - got 2 double beds. Long, bumpy access road behind a shopping center, pool water was high in chemicals. Decent room, nice hot tub, and very clean facility. Close to airport and highways, and friendly staff. Bottom line: Good value for the price I paid.”

• Side door to enter hotel was damaged and card reader would not allow you to enter.

• The hot tub was hot enough. Nice breakfast. big rooms.
• Breakfast was over at 9 am Monday, we were not told the hours changed from 10 am on the weekend. We missed breakfast.

“Very nice suites. My daughter loved having her own TV. The breakfast was ok, but Hours are different during the week. Make sure you ask. The hot tub was wonderful and hot. Pool is nice for kids. I'd stay again.”

• The hotel staff was very helpful and the breakfast that was provided was excellent.

“My husband and I went to the hotel as a little romantic get away, and it was just that. The room was beautiful and the pool was nice as well. My husband enjoyed the breakfast. I would go again.”

• It was close to the err airport.
• Room floor grungy-tinsels/glasses provide were unprotected/not covered. Questioned cleanliness.

“The room was ok. The location got us to the airport with ease. Thin walls, could hear all in rooms adjacent and above ours. Right down to the snoring. We will probably seek other alternatives with our next trip to gr. Felt the price on this one was a little high for what we got. ”

• Limited TV channels (no comedy central).

“Good value for business and family travelers. Breakfast was good, though needs a bit more attending to after it is put out. Nice quiet room, good location next to free way for quick access to downtown and/or airport. We also have used their parking for long trips from the airport which was handy.”

• Bathroom fan was noisy, but all motels have this problem.

• Meier is right around the corner for anything the hotel doesn't have. The afternoon snacks in the hotel are tasty and plentiful.
• The location can be a little hard to find the first time.

“I've stayed in this hotel during a previous trip to grand rapids and was happy to be back. The TV channels are decent and the wifi free internet works great. The free breakfast great and a nice way to start a day.”

• The level of the hotel for the price and location.
• I was next to employee laundry room and it was load.

“Nice pool, great breakfast, friendly staff and close to airport. The room was clean, I had plenty of towels and room amenities included extras such as silverware and dishes and not just a microwave that cannot be used without them.”

“We booked this hotel for my husbands parents, they really enjoyed it. The hotel was clean, breakfast was good, and they enjoyed having the separate living quarters, when mom wanted to sleep dad could watch TV without bothering her.”

“I lost a custody hearing to default because I did not receive my wake up call. Asked twice for a 6 am wake up. Once at desk during check in and once before retiring. Did not get wake up call. Missed custody hearing for 2 yr old daughter. Lost custody as default. Staff acted as if it were my fault for not setting alarm. That is the exact reason I asked twice. I did not want to sleep through an alarm or risk setting an unfamiliar clock. About the worst possible thing that could ever happen to a parent happened to me and it was completely the fault of the hotel staff and management.”

• Spacious rooms, great price.
• .Breakfast good, waffle maker awesome, 5 pm "meal" cheap pizza and cold chicken wings.

“The hotel staff was helpful. The room was nice and tidy. The only issue I had was with the food that they put out around 5 pm. It was a pre-dinner but the only thing worth getting is the chips and salsa.”

• Room was spacious and convenient.
• Lobby got cold, pool was closed while we were there.

“We really enjoyed our stay, but were disappointed that the pool was closed for painting. We realize that such maintenance has to be done at some time, and the hotel offered us pool time at another nearby hotel, but that was inconvenient. We were very pleased however with the service and the room quality. We would definitely recommend this hotel.”

• Hall ways could have been vacuumed more than once a day; kids & popcorn.

• The lobby is lovely.
• The reception for TV is horrible. Same of the channel selection.

“This a nice average hotel. Staff was very nice and accommodating There were fliers in the room encouraging us to re-use our towels, which I found kind of repulsive. The television was a big let-down. there were few channels, and very poor reception. We lost TV altogether during a thunderstorm. It obvious they are trying to save money on small things. Breakfast was good.”

• Nice, clean room with adequate supplies for post-surgery stay of one night.
• Manager was rude--demanded person who booked room show id in person when person had surgery only several hours previously.

“The manager seemed to be angry to have to work a 'second' shift. I called previous to my stay and explained my sister may need to show my id as I was still sedated and would be in no condition to move around any more than necessary. The Manager explained that I must check in myself. I asked if there would be a wheelchair, and the manager affirmed. When I got there I was quite weak & in pain but did check in to show my id. When I walked in the Manager claimed that my sister could have brought in my id. The Manager was adamant the night before my 8/30/06 check in when my sister called to try to convince the Manager that I should not be checking in myself due to my incapacity as a result of my 5.5 hour surgery that day. My sister was with me but I still felt I needed the wheelchair. The manager offered me a luggage cart which was low to the ground with no side supports. This was a ridiculous suggestion. The room was wonderful, the Manager was better natured after I checked in. I also thought the Manager may be angry because an employee did not worked as scheduled & was transferring her frustration/anger to me at my vulnerable time. If I hadn't gotten the room at $40 plus taxes, I would ask for a refund because of the insulting/uncaring treatment I received. Also, my sister & I did speak with the same manager each time. We were both appalled & upset but I needed a place to go after surgery & had already made payment. So, we stayed. Because of being upset & my physical condition I cannot remember if the Manager's name was Michelle or Melissa. I didn't want to speak with her any more than I had to. Thank you. This Manager did not care about me whatsoever. Very bad business. Thank you.”

“Big and open lobby w/friendly front desk service. Room was clean and spacious. Beds were comfortable and we were able to get a good night's rest, as halls were quiet throughout the night. Breakfast buffet was stocked and offered more than the usual continental fare. Meijers and Macaroni Grill within walking distance. You get a good bang-for-your-buck with Amerisuites!”
