“Hotel is disgustingly smoky, guests and on-site establishments are obnoxiously loud, and rooms are filthy. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. Specifically, when we arrived, we quickly realized that the room was not clean. The sill on the window was the first indication of filth. The second was the desk chair. They were absolutely dirty. So dirty, I immediately instructed my 2 year old to not sit on the floor or the chair. Luckily, the sheets looked clean. Then to the bathroom. The toilet had black grime around the top of the bowl. The tile was dirty, as was the tub. After going out to dinner and returning to a facility full of smoke, we decided to take our son swimming. That was the one halfway decent thing about the facility. However, you had to walk through a public area, next to a smoke-filled bar and reception area that both had their doors open so the obnoxious music and smoke cloud oozed into the corridors. When we returned to our room, we settled our toddler into bed. We then fell asleep around 11 pm only to be woken up at 1 am by an obnoxious amount of cigarette smoke entering our room either through the ventilation system or neighboring guests. In addition, there was booming bass from music and loud neighboring guests. After 3 hours of this, at 4 am, our child woke up. We finally were able to sleep for a few hours after daybreak when the partiers went to sleep. When we woke up, our son had a nasty bug bite on his back! It could only have been from a bed bug or something! When we complained to the front desk in the morning, all we got was an I'm sorry this happened, you should have called and we would have switched your room. "At 3 am with a 2 year old?" I replied. They, in turn, simply said they were sorry. That was it. Do not stay at this filth, bug-ridden, smoke-filled, establishment filled with obnoxious guests.” Jun 13, 2009 by

“We got a smoking room. I told them we wanted a non smoking room. They apologized but did not give us any other options.” Apr 28, 2009 by

“The hotel itself was okay. The nightclub was nice and seemed to have a lot of people having a good time. But it was very loud throughout the hotel. I could hear it from my room. There was a lot of intoxicated people throughout the hotel. It may be a good time and a fun atmosphere for younger people, but it was a little too much for a supposedly relaxing and romantic weekend for us.” Jan 5, 2009 by
Shannon from Aiea,HI
“This as a very nice hotel overall. I was worried about booking a hot tub room because someone said theirs didn't get warm, but ours got as hot as we wanted it.” Nov 28, 2008 by
Stan from Grand Rapids,MI
“The hotel location worked well for me. I've stayed there before at full fare. Traverse City is a summer tourist location, so the hotel wasn't very busy in November. We also arrived in a snow storm which made the location amenities less attractive to me, but that wasn't the fault of the hotel. As Holiday Inn promises, there were no surprises, but that was fine.” Nov 19, 2008 by
Walt from Whitehall,MI
“I was very disappointed in the room number one it was a smoking room and secondly it was just not 3 star quality. The beds did not even have a bedskirt on them, so the box springs were showing in all their glory. Very tacky in my opinion.” Sep 11, 2008 by
Jean from Whitehall, MI
“The room was clean and smelled good, I had an excellent view of Grand Traverse Bay - the employees were very friendly and very helpful! I will stay there again.” Sep 10, 2008 by
Georgina from Atlanta, MI
“I was disappointed.” Sep 7, 2008 by
Robert from Redford, MI
“Definitely not worth it. We found fleas in our bed. Our room key never worked. I went to the lobby several times to get it activated and it still did not work. Luckily my in-laws were next door in the adjoining room to let us in but it was very inconvenient. The drain was clogged in the shower. I definitely would not stay here again.” Aug 17, 2008 by
Becky from Crete, IL
“The amenities did not include a continental breakfast or coffee in the lobby. The price included standard room at a location on the beach. Facilities were well maintained. We enjoyed the live entertainment on the outdoor patio. The food and the service were very poor outside, however, would only recomend this hotel for young people who want the nightclub activities.” Aug 7, 2008 by
Diana from Cedar Springs, MI
“It was a very nice hotel with several nice amenities. It was comfortable and clean and I stay there again.” Jul 29, 2008 by
Tracy from Kalamazoo, MI
“Just like to say that my hot tub for some reason had no hot water!” May 31, 2008 by

“I had a very good time here. The staff were friendly. We had what we needed. The nightclub was fun.” Mar 17, 2008 by
Pat from Fruitport, MI
“Hotel was very quiet-could not hear hall or room noise. Room was clean and comfortable. Restaurant menus posted in elevator were outdated in regards to price. Restaurant was closed, but food was available in bar. Great location and amenities for the price.” Feb 6, 2008 by
Debbie from Whitehall, MI

“The hotel staff was great. We accidentally stopped at the Holiday Inn Express when we first got into town and they called our hotel to check our reservation for us. The staff was very helpful finding a restaurant we couldn't find. The room was very clean and was big for what I paid for it. We are already planning a summer vacation there.” Oct 13, 2007 by
Anne from Granada Hills, CA
“This hotel was no deal. It was dirty and outdated. I was highly disappointed.” Aug 29, 2007 by
Monica from North Ridgeville, OH
“The end rooms, which we had, should be upgraded to reflect the great view and romantic theme to the Jacuzzi rooms. Old mattress, Jacuzzi, and TV need to be upgraded, as well as carpeting. Since it was only 2-star, not so bad, but somewhat overpriced for the amenities.” Jul 16, 2007 by
Steve from W. Bloomfield, MI
“It is obvious that the hotel staff is trying to keep up with the peak summer season. Staying there when it is not the peak season is always better. We did not complain, but it is obvious that others complaints have worn on some of the desk staff. They should be reminded that not all guests are crybabies.” Jul 7, 2007 by
Brandon from Chicago, IL
“The hotel is conveniently located on Traverse City's West Bay and it is only blocks from the downtown area of shops and restaurants. The hotel has its own beach and an outdoor patio on the lake.” Jun 20, 2007 by
Richard from Valparaiso, IN
“Great location for walking downtown and on the beach. Hotel bar was reasonably priced and the night club wasn't as noisy as others who had reviewed it. Would go back.” Mar 11, 2007 by
Me from Mt. Pleasant, MI
“Overall the hotel itself was fine. I was just disappointed by the beds. They were rather stiff, you could feel the springs through the matters and the pillows were pretty small and it made it difficult to get comfortable. I had much better sleep at the last two hotels I stayed at which were both Marriott¿s.” Feb 7, 2007 by
Rachel from Lexington, MI
“Overall clean. Liked the sheets tripled. Friendly staff. Liked that dogs are welcome.” Jan 18, 2007 by
Diane from Macomb, MI
“The room was comfortable, though there were few guests that weekend our room was the farthest it could possibly be from the elevator, pool or other amenities.” Nov 29, 2006 by
Jay
“Very nice Holiday Inn, no problems.” Nov 16, 2006 by
Natalie from Grand Blanc, MI
“I booked a non-smoking, quiet room. Was given choice of room about night club or smoking room. I could clearly hear the people next door, and when their alarm clock went off at 5:30 am. Was surprised that wasn't a continental breakfast available.” Oct 1, 2006 by
Gabriela from Royal Oak, MI
“Best location!!! Best Price!! very clean rooms etc. very friendly Staff Overall very Best Experience.” Jul 25, 2006 by
Tim from Riverview, MI
“Love this hotel for summer stays. Beach front property, Jet Ski and boat rental. Outside patio bar with nightly entertainment. Centrally located for date trips to mackinaw island or sleeping bear dunes.” Feb 19, 2006 by
