• I liked the friendliness of staff from the bell captain to the housekeeper.
• Did not like that I did not know that I had club access in the beginning.

“It was a great place to stay and relax. Plush well appointed room. Being on the club floor was nice that you had your own lounge to go to.”

• The brown continues to keep up to date while holding on to its historic architecture.
• Our room had torn wallpaper and carpet stains. The sofa was also needed to be replaced.

“The Brown is a wonderful hotel with beautiful lobby and restaurants. We were given a room that needed to be updated, but it was quiet. The bed was good, clean and firm. On our floor, the ice machine was broken and we had to go to another one for ice. The pedway was also being worked on, so we had to carry our bags up and down steps. Even with this, we enjoyed our stay, and will go back.”

• Is very close to major nightlife hub of town.
• Room service called the phone at 7 am asking for payment they could have simply billed to my room account.

“The hotel is a grand place to visit. We enjoyed the room, it was upgraded at the desk for no extra charge.”

• I liked everything but the high cost valet parking.

• Beautiful hotel, very elegant.
• The size of the room.

“The hotel was beautiful, however when we arrived we were told we were "upgraded" to a better room, the room was very small and only housed a FULL size bed, not even a Queen size bed. The bathroom was bigger than the sleeping quarters. I was very disappointed in the room size. It was the smallest room on that floor.”

• Vintage hotel with lots of space and antique appointments.
• A bit removed from the core business areas.

“I felt it was 1930. It was a vintage hotel with some fabulous appointments. The room was quite large with plenty of window space. The room was clean and comfortable. I would not rate the accommodations as luxury, but a nice place to spend the night. The price I paid for the room was not commensurate with the accommodations - a little overpriced.”

• The lobby and rooms were beautiful and clean.
• We had a very unsatisfactory visit to this hotel, tub stopped up, iron didn't work. had to move to new room. Late for Gala!

“The hotel does not keep up with it maintenance of tub and other little things, I realize the hotel is old but that is no excuse. I really didn't like the choice of this hotel. We were very displeased!”

• The hotel, staff, room and the English Grill were all wonderful! Oh and the details in design was excellent!
• There was no listed menu for the restuarants in the room, only descriptions of each. Pretty but would have liked more dining information.

“Short and simple! I loved it! The staff was wonderful from the moment we entered the hotel to the moment we left! I was very happy with our stay on our romantic weekend 6 year old little boy free.”

• Bar prices.

“This wonderful hotel has managed to maintain it's original 1920's aura. The customer service is excellent and the staff makes sure the accommodations are first class.”

• The non-chain feel of this hotel.
• Lack of coffee machine in room.

“Elegant, old style charming hotel, with excellent customer service. Enhance your stay by letting the staff know your needs. The shuttles can be used for more than just going to/from the airport.”

• Beautiful historic landmark, the staff was friendly and the hotel was very clean and attractive.
• We are a family of five and we could only get two full-size beds.

“The exterior entrance is located on the side. It looks like originally it was on the front of the building, if you pull up to that entrance it looks run down and empty. As you find the correct entrance there is staff waiting to help you unload and get in. It was fall so they had a huge antique silver server with hot spiced cider to welcome you. The room and the bath were very clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful.”

“We were traveling so we were only there long enough to sleep. We did order room service and it was wonderful. They were very prompt in delivery. I would tell others to stay @ the brown and would actually like to visit again when I could stay longer and enjoy the facilities.”

“Fantastic staff, great location, and very elegant hotel. Rooms are a bit dated, but are very clean and have very high end furniture and appointments. There was even a real oil painting in our room!”

• The restaurant staff was excellent.
• No swimming pool.

“The brown is in a great location in downtown Louisville, near many restaurants and night spots. The decor is outstanding as is the architecture. We stayed on the club level and enjoyed the snacks, breakfast and happy hour very much. The staff was so nice "y'all".”

• Every one of the staff we met were courteous, caring, and friendly.
• There was a heavy, musky odor in the rooms. Was it a particular deoderizer, or the hotel's age?

“It was a lovely, famous hotel in downtown Louisville, with a rich history. A soon-to-be released movie was recently filmed there and much of the hotel was renovated for the movie. The rooms were large and richly decorated in the tradition of the Old South. Many small details were added to the rooms to give an extra, luxurious touch.”

“Hotel is an excellent property in the location desired. I would have liked an option to select amenities desired as well as class of hotel. This property is without a pool and this fact would have altered my decision.”
