  • Very close to restaurants and Fourth Street Live. Best attraction in Louisville!

“This is an older, very elegant hotel. If you want to be close to business meetings, night life. Had a very, very romantic dinner.

  • Great traditional Southern Ambiance and luxury atmosphere.
  • Bathroom much too small, 9.95 charge for internet.

“If the bathroom was larger and internet was free, I'd have given them a 5 star rating. The Seelbach fits the definition of a grand old hotel well and only needs a few minor tweaks to meet the criterion completely.”

Cleanliness:[8] • Staff:[9] • Location:[9]

  • It has a great location and the staff was helpful and enthusiastic.
  • The bed was too small; the amenities in the room are not what I expected from a 4 star hotel.

“Very old fashion and traditional; however instead of looking vintage the amenities in the room appeared a little old and dull. The "queen" bed was actually a double but the location is great and the staff was friendly enough.”

  • They over charge on the parking garage, they charge $5 more than just paying the garage directly.

“The hotel is great; it is your service that is in question. I paid you for 3 nights and you received your money but denied the hotel their payment and now they have charged me an additional fee for the unpaid balance you were supposed to pay.”

Cleanliness:[7] • Staff:[3] • Location:[7]

  • Historical, Classical
  • Small bathrooms

“An incredibly neat and historical hotel with classy lobby and restaurant areas. We requested a refrigerator and was told by the front desk it would be sent up. It never arrived during our 4 days there. We had a family of 4. The first day one of the housekeeping staff offered extra towels. We accepted. Even though the housekeeping staff always collected 6 towels each day they would only leave 2. I would have assumed that they knew our reservations was for four persons. Why only leave 2 towels. The bathrooms were very small and the bathroom location was quite inconvenient for a family.”

“While steeped in history the Seelbach is not a four-star hotel due to its very confining rooms and clumsy arrangement. The staff, however, makes staying there bearable as they are very attentive and good-natured.”

Cleanliness:[5] • Staff:[5] • Location:[7]

  • air conditioning not functional, dirty desk-sticky, bathtub clogged

“This hotel was ok. I have stayed at many 4 star hotels and this was not one of them. The air conditioning was not working well in our room and upon calling for service. We never received it. The beds were small not true double beds. The bathtub was clogged and water filled up to above my ankle. The desk and furniture was filled with somekind of sticky gum and oily fingerprints. Clearly not clean.”

  • The rooms were very small and not entirely user-friendly.

“We really enjoyed our stay at the Seelbach, but it's probably not the best place for a family. The rooms are tiny, and the TV is blocked by the posters of the four poster beds. That said, it was very clean, and well-located, and was a good deal for the price.”

  • We were put in a very small room with an inferior view. There wasn't enought light in the room. The shelf in the bathroom wasn't level .

“The room was large enough only for a Queen bed and little else. The bathroom had no place to put toiletries and the shelf slanted down causing all objects to slide off to the floor (or in the toilet).”

Its location next to the new Fourth Street Live night-life district (formerly the Galleria) could not be more convenient (although we were plagued by the noise of Fourth Street partiers until 4 a.m. one Saturday night.) ”

  • Our bathroom was huge & the staff was very helpful.
  • There was no in-room coffee maker or free continental buffet.

“We really did enjoy our stay. The staff was wonderful ~ especially the valet staff. They gave us great restaurant recommendations each night. However, I really do wish there had been an in-room coffee maker or a free continental buffet (with coffee). That's one little perk I guess I've just come to expect from any hotel, especially an upper-scale one. I think I had a caffine-withdrawal headache by the time we made it to the hotel cafe!! :o) Overall, aside from the beautiful artwork & the atmosphere, there wasn't really anything to set the Seelbach apart from any other less-espensive hotel. Yes, the atmosphere was nice, but, I would expect a 4-star hotel to have more perks, not more art... ”
