• I loved the setting in Union Station.
• I did not like the noise from the pool.

“My partner and I were pleasantly surprised by the level of service received at this hotel. Everyone was so courteous and friendly. The only two negatives of the stay were that our room was directly above the swimming pool and the noise was bothersome at times. Also, the bathroom was small.”

• The parking fee was separate; did not include in/out privileges.

“Enjoyed the hotel although there was some miscommunication from the staff. Called that night for extended checkout time but was told to call back in the morning. When I called back in the morning, I had missed the time frame (which I had not been informed of) and could not get the desired checkout time. I was also disappointed with the parking arrangement. This was inconvenient and expensive.”

• I love vintage and antiques and the golden era of Hollywood. I was so in my element.
• The location made it difficult to find.

“The hotel is a little difficult to find as the street it is located on looks more like an alleyway. But once we found it (after 4+ trips around the block) we were more than pleased. The staff starting with valet was exceptional. The room was unique and clean. My spouse and daughter enjoyed the pool, and I hit the gift shop. It is in a prime location in a lovely, clean, historically preserved city.”

• The historical part.
• The surroundings felt unsafe and ran down.

“I was very happy with the price of the hotel but when I arrived I was quite disappointed with the location of the hotel. It was downtown but surrounded by all the ran down buildings. It just wasn't a beautiful laid out building as the picture looked.”

• The train station atmosphere is very unique and creative.
• The room bathrooms could have been nicer.

“Using an old train station as a hotel was ingenius. There is a character to this hotel that you don't find in many others. It's also located less than 3 blocks from almost every major venue in downtown Indianapolis. Between the atmosphere, the reasonable price and the location, the Crown Plaza is definitely a top choice for Indy.”

• The housekeeping is sub-par in all things.

“This is the second time I have stayed in this hotel. I was so disappointed about the housekeeping in this hotel! My bedside table was sticky, the floor unwept before and during my stay, there was a cookie wrapper on the floor of the closet. The glasses and cups were dirty and had something greasy on them. Totally unwept. The management needs to address the problem! If this is a 3-star, I do not want to see the 1 or 2-star hotels!”

• Enjoyed the close location to shops and restaurants and the kids enjoyed the pool.
• We wished that the pool was open a little later.

“The Crowne Plaza Union Station fit our needs perfectly for our trip. The staff was nice and the rooms were comfortable. The kids really enjoyed the free internet in the lobby and the pool. We had a very nice stay.”

• Great room. The train station Motif was interesting.
• Parking is overpriced or else too far away.

“This is a nice hotel that is a converted train station. Very good use of the old trains and they have these cool plaster statues of early 20th century travelers. Only problem is that parking is at least $20 unless you want to park a couple blocks away.”

“Great location for visiting fun bars and restaurants downtown--all within close walking distances. Didn't understand why we had to sign form that we wouldn't smoke as Indy hotels are smoke-free and we're non-smokers.”

• I loved the architecture of the hotel and its ambiance.
• Having eaten at the bar two of the four evenings, the bartender was not very friendly.

“The Crowne Plaza at Union Station in Indianapolis was a very nice find. Its architecture was extremely interesting, being that it is attached to Indianapolis' Union Station. I enjoyed everything about my stay, however, if you dine at the bar, make sure you ask the bartender to speak up. I could barely understand him.”

• Trains in hotel kind of cool but loud.
• My room smelled HORRIBLE when I checked in.

“The hotel was hard to find in the dark. The room smelled HORRIBLE. Workmen were setting up tables and hammering right outside my window (facing a lobby) as they set up tables in the MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT. Impossible to sleep due to noise and smell.”

• The bed and pillows was soft and the location.
• Have never stayed in a place that was so noisy! We got no sleep.

• Beautiful atmosphere--in walking distance to everything Downtown.
• The trains woke me up 3 times during the night/early morning hours.

“The hotel is very pretty. The rooms are nice and clean. The only problem that we had were the trains. At midnight the room felt like an earthquake was hitting when a train came through Union Station.”

• The hotel was quirky and historic, but funky.
• It looks and smells like a 1982 renovation.

“You will either love or hate this hotel. If you like quirky campy things, you might like it. They took an old train station and very creatively converted it. Every room has giant exposed riveted iron beams protruding from the walls. The beams even are stamped 'Carnegie' after the famous iron baron Andrew Carnegie. The kept some of the Pullman passenger cars and converted them into rooms also. A good hotel if you are a history or architecture buff. Might be good for families b/c walking through the hotel is very experiential. However, the hallways are somewhat dark and a little scary, and the renovation was done in the 80's so the hotel feels very tired and stale. Perhaps even a little dank. Location: geographically it's great. Very close to all the cool downtown restaurants/bars. But it's also located under an active train track, so it's just a little weird like that. You will hear an ominous rumble a few times during the night. A very good value, but if you are a discerning traveler who likes things clean and crisp, this is not for you.”

• The walls in the rooms are paper thin.

“The staff was great, the hotel is beautiful, clean and has a cool theme because it is near union station. Right across the street from RCA dome/Pan Am Plaza and lots to do down. It was difficult to sleep because we has neighbors who were up late and we could hear all of their interactions even though they were talking in normal voices.”

• $25.00 parking fee - cost conscious traveler beware! Better signage to help guests find their rooms would be helpful.

• Only trouble, phone in room would not dial outside line.

“From the moment I walked in I was welcomed by a very sincere and friendly staff. The room and bed were very comfortable and clean. The trains added an exciting element to my stay. I would definitely stay here again, and ask for a room on a train next time.”

• The location in very convenient to Downtown.

“The location of this hotel is great for access to Downtown: walk to convention center, mall, and restaurants. It's described as a 3 star, but is in great need up updating. The decor and bathrooms are pretty old and showing their age. The hotel is built over an old train station, which is fun for kids, but has trains running all night and rooms face an open atrium in the middle of the hotel. This makes everything extremely noisy. It seems like more of a "party" hotel or for sports fans (directly across from the RCA Dome) that want to have a party in the room. Also, the restaurant in the hotel is more dated than the rooms eat somewhere else when staying here. Overall it's really a 2 star hotel without very modern amenities. The location is its best asset.”

• A bit difficult to find so follow the directions. Parking near hotel is expensive.
