“It is an older property and is in desperate need of a makeover. The furnishings, design, and appointments within the hotel are far outdated and it is very obvious from the first step in. Additionally a surcharge for Internet access in this day and age is ridiculous. Even with that having been said, there were only a couple of folks within our group who could even pickup the fee-based WiFi signal within the hotel. I have stayed at many other properties within this very large resort before. In hindsight, I would have likely tried to get a condo or into another property on the resort. The other properties are quite nice and I have always enjoyed them.” Jul 7, 2009 by
Scot from Roswell,GA
“The Picture that we were shown as the hotel turned out to be where you check in, not where we stayed. the Hotel we stayed at was old, in desperate need of updates, and smelled of mold. The restaurant on site had poor service and the food wasn't good.” Mar 24, 2009 by
Tommy from Kenner,LA
“We arrived and checking in was so easy. We got into our room and it was comfortable and clean. The restaurants were just outside our doorstep. It was a romantic get away and since it rained the whole weekend, our studio room was perfect. We're planning a Summer trip with our children. Absolutely loved it!” Sep 4, 2008 by
German from Suwanee, GA
“Low quality not even close to a 2 star hotel.” Aug 9, 2008 by
Chris from Boston, MA
“Great location, with pool onsite. The hotel rooms seem dated and the beds no where near as comfortable. The place needs an overhaul, but the location is fabulous.” Jul 21, 2008 by
Chrs from Marianna, FL
“This hotel was nice other than it not being on the beach as we were expecting but it was a nice, clean facility.” Jul 21, 2008 by
Theresa from Cleveland, TN
“Would not stay here again.” Jul 17, 2008 by
Martha from Dallas, TX
“I think the price might have been a little high for this property, but it was a busy time in the summer season and I understand that. We had to wait lengthy times for the shuttle, but it was a great convenience for this property. The whole San Destin property was gorgeous and we had a great time.” Jul 15, 2008 by
Amalia from Hoover, AL
“If you are looking for a wonderful and safe place to go this is the perfect resort.” Jun 5, 2008 by
Kathleen from Dallas, TX
“While the overall rating of the whole complex of the San Destin Resort may have been 3*, where we stayed at the Bayside Inn was well under that. Bayside was the furthest hotel from the beach.” Jun 5, 2008 by
Cj from Omaha, NE
“Nice, comfortable, private resort with a variety of on property activities and nice atmosphere with very well kept beaches.” Jun 4, 2008 by
Wendy from Aiken, SC
“Room was clean but bathroom shower tiles appeared to be dirty. The underside of the soap dish had mold growing on it. The hall area on the floor our room was on smelled strange.” May 30, 2008 by
Charles from Watkinsville, GA
“This hotel is average but the resort property is 4 star. The hotel and rooms are a little above normal but not like 4 stars. It did have a refrigerator and microwave and a king sized bed, these were nice. Settled for bayside.” May 18, 2008 by
Lee from Huntsville, AL
“The resort exterior & grounds were beautiful, however the condo, we rented, needed maintenance. The washer & dryer were worked poorly; the balcony sliding screen door was broken and leaning against a wall on the balcony; several electrical outlet covers were broken & needed replacing; the ceiling above the tub/shower had a leak from the condo above ours. When the latter was reported, maintenance did not respond for over 24 hours. The security staff, maintenance staff, and many members (but not all) of the beach staff were friendly and helpful. The registration desk staff had a very indifferent attitude as if our being there was a bother to them. The condo's furnishing were generally comfortable, the quality was not on par with a resort portraying itself as a world-class resort. Though the beach was great and the surrounding landscaping was unparalleled, we will not be likely to return to this resort.” May 8, 2008 by
Michelle from New Orleans, LA
“It was first not on the beach which is what I requested and paid for, it was very musty and the bath tub was dirty. Not a four star quality by any means.” May 7, 2008 by
Dana from Decatur, GA
“The Bayside Inn at the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort was a lovely getaway, but beware, regular rooms have 2 double beds. To get a larger bed, we had to upgrade to a suite. Sure, it's not the end of the world to have double beds, but it sort of is when you're traveling with young children who tend to roll around a lot.” May 3, 2008 by
Leslie from Dickinson, TX
“I wanted another room. The management offered us the same room on another floor which was a definite improvement. But this is the second time, you guys dropped the ball for me.” Apr 23, 2008 by
Londa from Huntsville, AL
“This hotel was fine for a couple of nights, but would not want to spend a week there. The front desk was rarely manned, but when we had a problem with the television, they were quick to send someone to look at it.” Apr 22, 2008 by
Clifford from San Antonio, TX
“This was not a hotel--it is a time share out building that had a lobby that was not manned. Check-in and check out were done three miles away. No services were available in the "hotel". The shower trickled out and took 5 minutes of constant flow before the water started to get warm. When we asked for better room, the hotel staff offered us another room in the same building with the same problems.” Apr 16, 2008 by
Sherry from Hattiesburg, MS
“Safety oriented. Pleasant surroundings. Convenient location.” Apr 15, 2008 by
Joan J. from Mahomet, IL
“I have never, ever been in a facility that there was not on site personnel. However, there was never anyone at the front desk! All business had to be conducted with the Grand Sandestin which was a considerable distance from the Bayside Inn. There were no employees in the hotel other than the maids. I asked if the doors were locked at night and they were not. The person told me that everyone is checked as they come in the front gate. Hello, the Bayside Inn is on the Bay! The last time I stayed at this hotel the door locks were broke on the sliding glass doors, but here are now new doors. The pool should be heated. All of us were dying to swim but the water was frigid. I will never use this facility again. It is not worth the money and I don't need more people to remind me that I am not a millionaire.” Apr 14, 2008 by
Laura from Kokomo, IN
“The location is great; the room had a refrigerator, coffee maker, sink, etc. That was nice. They had plenty of rooms, but I was stuck.” Mar 25, 2008 by
Leah from Tallahassee, FL
“Very beautiful check-in location. Gives a good first impression. The staff is very professional; also accommodating & helpful. The room was quite spacious for 3 stars; very clean. There was even a balcony overlooking the water. Every time we called for a shuttle, the answering service was friendly & compliant. The shuttles arrived within 10 minutes each time and we reached our destinations in 10 minutes or less each time. The shuttles service MANY convenient locations, including a grocery shopping center.” Mar 21, 2008 by
Jessica from Gainesville, VA
“I really liked the hotel itself and our view. The room was nice. The granite countertops really made it look classy. However, I was concerned that the room was NOT clean and ready for new patrons at 5pm (which is an hour later than check-in). When we asked when the room would be ready, no straight answer was given. The room was finally ready about an hour later. The view is indescribable. I was impressed by that and the landscape. That left a bad taste in my mouth especially when the room wasn't even ready for us when we arrived.” Oct 18, 2007 by
Jean from Windermere, FL
“I still had a great time, it was clam and I felt safe I just had to go to the other side to go to the beach.” Sep 5, 2007 by
Ratna from Alpharetta, GA
“Food is very expensive.” Aug 22, 2007 by
Jennifer from Sugar Land, TX
“Everyone was wonderful and we felt very well taken care of. I would definitely recommend it to friends. The resort is huge but the beaches are wonderful.” Aug 15, 2007 by
Shanta from Powder Springs, GA
“Although we had a nice time, I really didn't appreciate my room not being cleaned during our stay. I was told it was because we were leaving the next day but that's really no excuse. We had to call housekeeping for clean towels. We were also on the verge of being harassed by gate keepers because the front desk didn't give us a ticket to put on the dash. Other than that the stay was fine.” Jul 30, 2007 by
Brendon from Dothan, AL
“Very good service and clean rooms.” Jul 29, 2007 by
Gracie from Houston, TX
“Had to pay an upgrade charge for a different room since the 1st room did not meet expectation and I would rate the 1st room to a 2 to 2 1/2 star hotel. It's not by the beach without having to walk to it!” Jul 11, 2007 by
Denise Y. from Bay Village, OH
“The Bayside Inn is in dire need of a total facelift, including staff. Our bathroom ceiling had a large area of black mold from leakage on the floor above. The beds were very small and needed to be replaced. Maid service was horrible. Never did get our bed linens changed over a 9 day stay. Elevator service was down. There was 1 elevator for an 8 floor hotel. Garbage was overflowing in front of the hotel and at the pool. It took more than 24hours to have them emptied. The rest of the 2400 acre resort was lovely. We will not be using it again.” Jul 9, 2007 by
Melinda from Dallas, GA
“The hotel/resort was clean and had a friendly staff. The price included extra amenities that are usually found in pricier hotels. We had to leave the resorts' private beach for an excellent public beach in order to get some breathing room from all the other guests who also did not want to rent the expensive chairs and umbrellas.” Jul 8, 2007 by
Anne from Baton Rouge, LA
“Bayside Inn is a garden view room. The room is ok, but b/c it is run like a condo, there is hardly any cleaning done to your room. The trash and dirty towels pile up quickly. The resort is gorgeous with plenty of things to do.” Jul 6, 2007 by
Michael from Chicago, IL
“The Sandestin Resort is exceptional, but the Bayside Inn is very ordinary. The location is very attractive, but the hotel is in need of a total upgrade.” Jul 3, 2007 by
Steve from Scituate, MA
“The room was sub-standard.” Jun 24, 2007 by
Sachin D. from Greenville, SC
“The sandstone resort overall was great. I was disappointed in the room. Supposedly, the bayside inn was renovated in 2006. The lobby looked nicely renovated, but I think they forgot to renovate our room. A Hampton inn, day's inn, holiday inn express, etc. Have better in-room amenities and facilities than the bayside inn. Very disappointed with the bayside inn. Don't get me wrong, but overall the sandstone resort is a great place, just was disappointed with the room.” Jun 24, 2007 by
Jason from Houston, TX
“Staff was friendly, but if you need a wake up call you might just want to set the alarm because they don't call. The water pressure was horrible and the fridge made a loud noise constantly. The beds were not that great. I don't think we will be going back to stay here.” Jun 23, 2007 by
Amy from Drumright, OK
“This hotel is very nice. My only complaint with the hotel is that they do not have hob and other movie channels. At this price, you expect to have more than basic cable with bravo. Also, there was a charge for internet use.” Jun 19, 2007 by
Randal from Peachtree City, GA
“Hotel was the Bayside Inn which although the hotel name is the beach and golf resort was not on the beach. Waited several times over an hour to an hour and a half for tram service to and from beach. Need more trams. Driver was rude. Room smelled like smoke. Switched rooms and that room didn't smell but did not have an outdoor/balcony lock on the first floor. Customer service and hotel operations were horrible. Would not recommend this hotel ever.” Jun 18, 2007 by
Steve from Houston, TX
“The bayside inn should not be a 4-star hotel. Had we not been upgraded from this I would have been very disappointed with our vacation.” Jun 15, 2007 by
Deann from Austin, TX
“I would stay there again; I would ask to see my room first before agreeing about it! The manager's idea of clean and mine are different, even after complaining! I took picture and a video of the room, so they could see the problems. Mold, falling down tile and short sheeted bed, plaster falling from ceiling and bars missing from balcony railing! Not the quality I expected from the Sand Destin, maybe a motel 6.” Jun 13, 2007 by
Michelle from Milton, FL
“Staff was very friendly, as you know with this resort there are about 10 different hotels you can stay at. It would be nice if you new which one you were staying in to accommodate your needs. It is nice for a family, a lot of shops in the Baytown wharf area after you're done swimming. If you want romance, it's better to stay on the beach. I don't know if I would return or not.” May 31, 2007 by
Gail from Sugar Hill, GA
“We had a great time. The longer we stayed the more we liked it. We love that we could ride bikes to the market, loved the pool area and I felt the workout facility was veer complete. I didn't care too much for the majority of people working behind the front desk. They seemed task oriented but didn't have that "welcome" feeling. When I requested an extra bed for our room I was told they would get one and never bothered to call me back to say they wouldn't after all because of a fire code? Never heard of such a thing. We had a great time and we look forward to a 4 and 5 star visit next time.” Aug 16, 2006 by
Debbie from Columbus, GA
“Upset when I arrived being put on bay side & employee was very helpful in placing me on beach side.” Aug 12, 2006 by
Mark from Prairieville, LA
“Hotel was fine. I did not see a service charge anywhere when I was booking my reservation. ” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Apr 27, 2006 by

“We were impressed with the website pictures and the overall view of the Rooms on the Gulf, but when we arrived at the Resort we were told that we were staying on the opposite side of the road in the Bay side Inn next to the bay. The hotel room was small, beds were uncomfortable, the bathroom was not very clean and the Inn was under construction. None of this was mentioned prior to booking or checking in. We constantly heard banging and were walking around wet paint and sheet rock dust. I was so happy when we checked out.” Apr 10, 2006 by
Adam from Kendallville, IN
“Great place, but a little on the expensive side. The pool, bike rental and fitness center hours were very restrictive.” Apr 6, 2006 by
Dan from Atlanta, GA
“Great hotel, grounds, and the building, etc. were beautiful. Loved the staff and beach.” Mar 27, 2006 by
Carolyn from Lakeview, AL
“So much to offer, golf, tennis, beaches, cycling, shopping, swimming in a most beautiful setting.” Mar 25, 2006 by
Nicolette from St. Augustine, FL
“If your planning a vacation I would recommend this hotel. Included on the premises are lot's of things to do and see. The beaches are fabulous too. The view from my room made it feel like I was on a cruise ship, all water. Beautiful.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.
