• The air conditioner did not work!

“Arrived late at night in central standard time from eastern standard time so it seemed later. Turned on a/c and took quick shower etc and went to bed. Woke up around 3am feeling hot. Fan was blowing but no a/c. checked the wall thermostat. It was at 65auto. It was not working. Did not want to move family at that time of night. Staff did not seem to concerned next morning of offer compensation.”

• Bright and cleaning.
• The carpet in the building. Inside room carpet is fine. A little cheaper is better.

“I think the hotel is pretty good. It is 2 minutes driving to the concert center and it is cleaning and bright. One thing would make is better is the price. I spend 50$ per night which is not bad, but could be better.”

• Size of the room.
• Dirty doors, stained furniture, torn carpet.

“At first glance, everything was fine. However, at second glance, the doors were dirty, the furniture (couch and chair) had stains all over them and the carpet was pushed up in areas. With some fresh paint, and quality housekeeping-it would be much better.”

• Spacious room and friendly staff.

“This is , I think the fourth year we have stayed at this Hotel. I was well pleased with everything, much more than years past. Great spacious, and clean comfortable room. Internet access was the fastest I have seen anywhere. The staff was very friendly. They even called and asked if all was okay on arrival and departure.”

• Nice rooms, convenient parking, clean.
• Walls don't provide proper noise isolation.

“This is my 2nd time staying there, mainly for cost to value ratio. It is good, convenient and relatively quiet hotel. Having said that, you are out of luck. If you have noisy neighbor in the room next door. The breakfast is marginal (I had better at the holiday Inn Express and the Comfort inn). On the morning of my departure, there was no hot water. And don't expect a refrigerator in the room.”

• Convenience and location was great. Staff was friendly, generally speaking.
• Staff would not pick up calls to front desk for wakeup call and service questions.

“Hotel was a good choice for star rating. I've stayed there before and like the experience then and likewise liked it this trip. The convenience was evident when I frequented Oak Mountain State Park and many of the area shopping and recreational spots. Will visit again if the occasion arises.”

• Room accommodations were quite nice and the lady whom checked me in was fabulous!
• Coffee quality was lacking, weak. Also, more fresh fruit on the breakfast bar would have been nice.

“Hotel has a nice friendly staff that is very accommodating. The location is central to shopping and out of the traffic and hustle and bustle so one feels rested without giving up convenience. I'll visit here again.”

• The room was excellent and large, very clean.
• Only thing was the bathroom doors, wish they were regular closing doors, too many gaps.

“We were a party of 4, 2 rooms, and 4 adults for a business trip. We were very pleased with the whole hotel. It was clean, staff was helpful, and friendly, liked the locked outward doors to get in, good security there. We were overall pleased with everything; we would definitely stay there again if the need arises.”

• The hotel was very attractive and new in appearance.
• Breakfast ended too soon for vacationers...9:00 is early. Maybe 9:30 would have been better.

“The hotel was a nice place to stay on our mini vacation. It is located in a good area but was close to a few service stations that were questionable. Convenient to the interstate, shopping, business areas etc. We did have to ask for extra towels...Only 3 were provided. The continental breakfast ended at 9:00 which to me was too early since we were on vacation and had small children. We would recommend this hotel and would stay here again.”

• This hotel looks very fresh with beautiful look surrounding it as well as interior.
• No idea so far as I stayed just for a day.

“Initially, I thought of it is like all other hotels, but once I landed in to the hotel, I enjoyed every moment of it. The hotel staff were very efficient with time etc. They are very cooperative too. I always recommend this hotel to my friends whoever visit this area.”

• Exercise room was very small and had all poor and broken equipment.

“It was a clean, comfortable hotel - very fair for the price level in a good and safe part of town. The room was fine. But the staff had almost no knowledge of the area, restaurants, etc. And the exercise room was small with a broken weight machine in a tangled mess of cables, a dangerous treadmill in disrepair, and a poorly working bike.”

• Attitude of front desk clerk not acceptable.

“This property is set in an unlikely area for leisure travelers, and it is geared primarily to serve business people. It is generally clean and well managed, with minor maintenance issues, but the unacceptable attitude of the front desk clerk was an extremely sour note. It was reported to the manager, and apologies were made, but follow-up to assure future compliance is indicated. It is doubtful if I would try it again based on this experience.”

• Looked new, attractive, high ceilings, great shower.
• Front desk person not helpful, in fact was rude.

“New appearing, clean facility. A little off the beaten path, but worth the extra time to get there. Well worth the price paid. Front desk staff could use some instructions regarding dealing with guests and could have been more helpful when we needed prompt assistance to find the nearest pharmacy. We were told to look it up in the yellow pages.”

• Room had ants and no apology was given had to switch rooms with 2 kids.

“I have stayed there before with work so I had high standards because they have had them in the past. We had ants in our room and no apologies from staff. Just were told that we would be put in a different room. I had to wake up my children and move them a good distance when there was an empty room across the hall that I requested. We were only staying the night I did not see the problem with the room across the hall. I was very disappointed with the situation.”

• They helped when you screwed up.
• My reservation was not done correctly.

“The hotel was fine. My twin girls had to under go treatment at the children¿s hospital in Birmingham the morning after our stay. The hotel was great. I had to sit in the lobby & feed 4 week old twins after the ride up because they did not have us ready & it took about 30 minutes to straighten out the reservation. We have to return to the children¿s hospital once a month for 6 months. I thought it was supposed to be easy. ”

• The pool was OK.
• The staff was 100% terrible.

“We arrived at the hotel at 12:30 with the understanding that check in was at 1 pm. Their board said it was not until 3. At 3:45 they finally had our room ready. The staff was very rude and did not at all try to help us in any way! The room was OK but had not been vacuumed The bathroom had paint peeling off the wall and some cracked tiles. The pool was OK for the half hour we had to use it after such a late check in, but it had not been cleaned recently either. The elevator by our room was broken so we had to carry our luggage up the stairs to the third floor or come in from a totally different wing in order to get to our room. We paid only $20 less for our room than was posted on the door and that was about $60 too much! The lobby was nice but the "free" breakfast was shut down 20 minutes earlier than posted so we didn't even get that! Overall this was the BIGGEST rip off for an online "deal" that I have ever purchased and I have purchased 7 rooms online this year.”

• Door to room did not go to the floor. About two inches from the ground. Made the noise from the barking dogs in the rooms around me annoying.

• The mirror and lighting outside the bathroom so you can apply makeup and style hair easily.
• Not enough electrical plugs, especially near beds.

“I enjoyed everything about our stay. The hotel is very nice and clean. The only negative thing I saw was the elevator on the north end of the hotel. It seemed in poor condition and we were a little afraid of it. Looked to be a reconditioned elevator. Otherwise the hotel is nice and had a good continental breakfast.”

• The toilet was hard to flush, and I spent 2 hours getting the internet hooked up.

• Absolutely nothing.
• Obviously in a bad area. We were robbed blind while we were there.

“We stayed at La Quinta in Hoover for the first night of our annual golf trip. We arrived at 1:00 am and between that time and 6:00 am someone had knocked out the back windows of each of our SUV's and taken 7 sets of golf clubs valued at around $15K-$18K. We were then basically told by the front desk manager that it was our fault for leaving the valuables in the vehicle. ”
