“This is an old property. The rooms themselves are adequate. We were in route to another location and could get right back on the interstate.”

• I liked the floor plan. Bathrooms were more private.
• The electricity went off at 5:08 am. I couldn't see how to dress. No back lighting.

“This hotel is close to the interstate and is convenient to stores and shopping. It is easy to find. I would have enjoyed my stay much more if there had been a back-up system for lighting when the electricity went off.”

• Ants in rooms- staff was unfriendly- breakfast was terrible.

“Would not give us a king bed insisted on giving us 2 doubles. Ants in room (on beds). Transferred us to another room with ants and broken air conditioner transferred us to another room with ants in bathroom. Staff was unfriendly and not very helpful.”

• The room was fairly clean it had a coffee maker.
• It was a Friday night and lots of people were hanging off the balconies.

“This hotel may be ok to stay in on week nights; but on weekends it appears that the locals rent the rooms and party. We were there on a Friday night. Arrived around 11:00 PM and many people were hanging around on the balconies and talking which made it hard to sleep; also it was hard to find a decent parking space.”

• The rooms were very cold when I entered and that made getting comfortable very easy.
• The first room was dirty and not acceptable, but they quickly put me in a room that was great!

• It was quiet at night.
• I felt like I was in a cheap motel and was scared for my safety.

“I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. It is scary and unsafe for female travelers to go by themselves. There were a bunch of construction workers there, all men and I was placed on the second floor on the backside of the hotel facing the backdoor of a grocery store. I felt completely unsafe. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone! The door was actually bent at the lock because someone had tried breaking into it before. The Internet didn't work so I couldn't use wireless connections at all. I felt helpless. There are many hotels close by which I would have felt more comfortable in.”

• Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. I moved to a cleaner room, but the drain in the tub was very slow!
• The room I was originally given smelled strongly of mold and mildew.

• Room was clean, location good, breakfast was good, and the furnishings in the room were good.
• There was nothing we disliked about this hotel.

“We were very pleased with the hotel. It was our first time to stay in a LaQuinta and I was expecting less. Therefore, I was quite pleased as was my husband.”

• Not up to expectation for this name hotel. Very old and run down looking.

“La Quinta is a well known hotel, and it was close to the Interstate (I20). However it's appearance on the outside was disappointing. It just seemed it was in need of upgrading and remodeling.”

• Rooms were nicely sized, but not clean.
• Staff were not friendly or responsive. Rooms not clean, found hair on the sheets and small roaches in the room. Plenty of noise from nearby highway.

“I a.m. used to staying at Marriott affiliated hotels, and have higher expectations when it comes to accommodations. This hotel was not a place I would recommend staying in again for reasons noted above. I was very disappointed, from the staff at the front desk, to the room itself, it was not a very pleasant experience for me or my family.”

• It smelled like smoke.

“The hotel was merely serviceable. Non carpeted floors would facilitate cleaning. Change the A/C filters more often. Get rid of nasty curtains and comforters. If you plan for ease of cleaning, the room will be cleaned more efficiently.”

• Wireless connection and more in my price range.
• I was in a room next to the Interstate so it was loud.

“Overall an ok hotel to stay in for just needing a place to sleep. Parking lot is small and tight with only one way in/out. A refrigerator would help those who are staying more than two days. Girl at the front desk knew nothing about an emergency evacuation as we were told that a tornado would be in the area.”

• The room was comfortable. There was a free breakfast in the nice lobby.
• Outside entrances. Needs updated outside paint job. There was no remote or TV channel guide in the room. There was no healthy breakfast food.

“You cannot fix the outside entrances. We had to walk a long way, carrying our suitcases, to go up outside stairs and over long outside balconies to get to our room. But after we were in the room, and after we go the remote, then we were comfortable.”

• The location was good. Close to the mall, Wal-Mart, movies, and bowling alley.
• Staff Rude and Creepy. Rooms kind of clean but not kept in good repair.

“The hotel is not a two star hotel! I've stayed in the hotels, most of them are much better than La Quinta in Tuscoulsa. This is a one star hotel. No refrigerator or microwave and only about 10 channels.”

• I have enjoyed past stays at other La Quintas.
• Rooms are a chain linked fence from the Interstate.

“We were surprised to find a La Quinta that resembled a 70's motel. But since we were just spending the night we decided to give it a go. The accommodations were clean albeit dated. The problem however was the noise level. Only a chain linked fence on the parking lots edge separated our room from Interstate 59. Even the rooms' air conditioning unit turned on high could not drown out the roar of a busy highway. We asked for a different room, (perhaps on the backside of the motel?) but were informed that they were full. Interesting, in that there were perhaps 10 cars in the entire lot. We spent the night elsewhere. Don't waste your money there are many better alternatives in Tuscaloosa.”

• The location was great. Only a few miles from the movies, mall, and restaurants.
• Some staff very rude. Some staff very unprofessional!

“When I first checked into the hotel, the staff behind the desk was very friendly. I asked immediately if it would be possible for me to check out late. The female behind the desk told me that I could check out at 1:30 pm (normal check out apparently was 12:00. On the day of check out the cleaning staff start pounding on my door at 11:00. Then I get a very nasty call from the head staff member basically cursing me for checking out at 12:30. I will never stay here again!”

• Weird location (have to go through strip mall parking lot).

“It's in desperate need of repair and maintenance. The room was mostly clean, but little problems such as a bit of mildew on the shower curtain, very rough, old, tired towels, and stains on the comforter made this a less-than-comfortable night. The bed was rock hard; the pillows were a bit lumpy. Breakfast was the worst of the complimentary hotel meals I've ever had - tough hard boiled eggs, frozen waffle squares, and only 1 set of salt and pepper shakers for the entire room. This place was far below my expectations for a LaQuinta, and someone needs to whip it into shape. The overall impression is one of neglect and a lack of care for guest comfort.”

• Rooms were very tidy, clean and well decorated for a moderately price motel.
• Sits right on the highway--truck noise -ask for a room away from road.

“This motel exceeded my expectations--the rooms were very clean and nicely decorated--the staff was helpful and friendly--very conveniently located to university of Alabama, shopping and restaurants. A very good value I would recommend staying there to anyone.”

“We stayed overnight after a football game. It was only a few minutes from the stadium and was surprisingly clean. We were awakened by a couple of guys yelling outside of our door, but that is to be expected. We would stay again in the future.”

• This is a better hotel when compared several other hotels that put higher prices on the customers. For the price I paid, I had 100 % satisfaction/more.

• I liked the location of the motel to malls, restaurants, etc.
• I did not like staying on the interstate side or the breakfast buffet.

• The staff was friendly and professional, and was available with assistance we required.
• The hotel lock did not work and we could not obtain a new key. We finally worked with door ourselves and fixed the problem.

“The hotel was what we expected and met all of our needs. Would I stay again? Yes, I would when I need to stay in Tuscaloosa again. It was in a good location and within a short driving distance from the University of Alabama. The staff was extremely friendly and very professional.”

• The hotel was close to the conference I attended and to local restaurants and stores.
• The noise level at this hotel was loud.

“I got what I paid for at the LaQuinta Inn. The room itself was clean and spacious. The problem was the noise level. I was able to hear everything that was said in the next room and the noise from the parking lot; meaning the cheapest materials was used to build their walls. My room was across from the pool, so I had to hear the noise from there. It was rough getting restful sleep because of the noise level, other than that the hotel was pretty decent for the price.”
