• It was close to the McCormick Convention Center.
• It was not close to major transit lines.

“The room was nice and well kept. The view was incredible, 23rd floor, looking towards the city. The biggest draw back to the hotel was its location. If you are attending a conference, it works out very well. However, if you are a leisure traveler, or looking for something besides the convention, it is hard to access the transit lines. You have to either take a cab, or walk about 3/4 of a mile through the S. Side of Chicago to reach a rail line. This wasn't fun when returning from the clubs at 3:00 AM. I'd stay here for a convention, but not anything else.”

“Large hotel, higher floors have read view across the city. Beds are large and comfortable, rooms are quiet, Check out time at noon is really convenient. Really ok.”

• It was very clean, and the room was put together nicely.
• My main problem was the distance, it was a $20 cab ride from the center city.

“I really did enjoy my stay at the Hyatt. My biggest problem had to do with the distance from center city Chicago. If I go to Chicago again, I will most certainly pay more to stay closer to the city.”

• The staff was outstanding. Very nice people. Very professional.
• This hotel was not downtown like I requested. It was however in McCormick place but one block away from the ghetto and the projects.

“The people and hotel room were great. Very friendly. The location was awful. It was about ten minutes away from downtown Chicago and to get to the area where we usually stay it took a ten dollar cab ride. The location was way off and should not be considered the greater Chicago area because it was everything but great. 1 to 2 blocks away from projects is not my idea of staying downtown.”

• The location is convenient to UIC.
• Limited night life in immediate area.

• Close to Lakeshore, great for running and cycling.
• Located in a construction area.

“The hotel and amenities were quite nice. As expected most hotel purchased items were more expensive than at a local store. Construction at McCormick was ongoing, which detracted from the hotel's ambience. The room was quite nice, yet color choices, such as hallway carpet were questionable. Located five minutes from the Lakeshore City Trail. Perfect for summer.”

• The shuttle service as nice and it was good to have the Starbucks downstairs.
• The only thing 4-star about the hotel was the lobby.

“When you first walk in to the hotel you see the impressive lobby area which is just how you would hope a 4-star hotel would be in Chicago. Unfortunately, the impressiveness of the hotel ends about there. I've stayed in Microtel Inns with more amenities. For the money, I'd rather stay at a Holiday Inn. The hotel did offer a shuttle service down Michigan Avenue which can come in handy if you want to do some shopping or sight-seeing. Unfortunately though, the hotel was over 4 blocks from the nearest Red Line train stop in Chinatown, and those 4 blocks aren't walk able at night due to the fact that the area is quite dangerous. It would have been nice to have a hotel not so far south of the town, but it worked for what we needed. ”

• Convenient to UIC and Michigan Ave and very nice decor.
• Not much to do within walking distance and marginal neighborhood.

“We have stayed at this hotel many times and always have a wonderful room and receive excellent service from their employees from valet to room service to front desk.”

• It was accessible to all major locations in Chicago. Good transportation nearby.
• I liked it a lot.

“This was a great hotel. The room we stayed in was very comfortable, very clean. I loved the location. Very close to China Town in Chicago which I love. The health club was fairly good. The restaurant was reasonable. There was a nice little snack bar for emergencies. I liked this hotel a lot and would definitely recommend it to others.”

• Our room had a fabulous view of the city and lake. My children are 4 and 6 and loved watching the busy city bellow them!
• The only thing that was not perfect for our family was that the pool is more for fitness purposes than for family recreation.

• The staff was accommodating, the bed and pillows were excellent, and a very nice view!
• The restaurant - food was just ok. It took 4 X to get drink right!

• The staff was so friendly, they made us feel as if we were regular patron's.
• I cannot say there is anything I did not like.

“It is definitely a 4 star class hotel. Everyone was eager to help in anyway, from directing us on city busses or walking us personally to find a phone card machine. We loved our stay! The only negative comment I have is, I noticed as far as our room, the glass was not very clean. The large window in the room or the mirror's. That kind of takes away from the shiny, luxurious feel of the atmosphere. Otherwise, we would surely go back.”

• Nice facility with well appointed rooms. Ours had a particularly nice view. Staff service was excellent.
• It is a bit far from downtown for a leisure traveler.

“The Hyatt McCormick Place met our needs well during our weekend stay. The rooms were well appointed, and the staff were particularly helpful. The restaurant and snack shop were a bit expensive, though. If you are traveling on leisure or business unrelated to the convention center at McCormick Place, you might want to look closer to downtown.”

• The awesome view that we had.
• The room service food was overpriced and not good.

“The staff was very friendly and helpful. There were a few problems though. The valet parking was way overpriced, I wish that they would allow you to park yourself in the overnight lot. The room service food was overpriced which was expected but it could have at least tasted good. The room was clean until I moved the lounge chair and found a big piece of chicken on the floor, the chair is not hard to move, so it should have been moved and the piece of chicken cleaned up. But other than that it served it's purpose for being a place to sleep while enjoying Chicago during the day and evening.”

• Gorgeous view from the 30th floor and comfortable room.
• Walls are paper thin, we heard our neighbors until 1am! Parking is $24!

“Great hotel, good price. Beautiful view, comfortable beds, good room service. Friendly staff. The walls are paper thin, we heard every word that our young neighbors said. Eventually having to call the front desk when there was loud banging on the wall that make it actually shake. We heard them until 1 in the morning! The other con about this hotel was $24 for 1 night of parking. Otherwise great experience.”

• The window view in room was beautiful and panoramic.
• I paid for room up front and hotel overbooked, gave me a room with no bed.

“I have a strong issue with a hotel that would take my money and advance and not have a room for me. They gave us the parlor room adjoining with another guest that had no bed. So I paid for a room with no bed. After waiting an hour they brought us two roll away cots.”

• They truly exceeded our expectations.
• High parking rates which are probably normal for Chicago.

“The hotel was first class. Little did I know that the hotel that was selected was the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place, next to the boat show that we were attending anyway. The hotel selected an end room that was part of a larger suite. It overlooked Lake Michigan and Soldier's Field.”

• The hotel is too far removed from where all the action is!

• The friendliness of the staff.
• Its isolation.

“My wife and I have stayed there before and I had forgotten about how isolated it is. I was very surprised when I found out I that the $24 a day I paid for self-parking did not give me "in and out" privileges which I would have gotten only by paying for valet parking at $29 a day. Great hotel if you're on a company expense report while attending a convention at McCormick Center.”

• There is no street parking, so parking was $30 a day. Also I had a problem with the valet hanging out in my car and leaving food and newspapers behind.

“The parking situation was quite a pain. I was displeased to find that there was no street parking and sell-park was more costlier than the valet. I spent $30 a day for the valet. The hotel staff was wonderful with customer service when checking in, but when I got to my room I found a dirty towel and dirty socks in the bathroom. I also discovered a huge stain on the carpet. The sink drain wouldn't work until I messed with it. On the second day of my stay, I asked for my car from the valet. It took just a few minutes longer than usual, but I was not upset. When I got into the vehicle I smelled food. I looked in the back seat and found newspapers and beverages that did not belong to me. Although not angry, I was not pleased. Overall, I thought it was an ok experience. The good came with the bad.”

• Great rooms I like having a small desk and sitting chair in the room.
• The public transportation getting to downtown and back was a bit cumbersome.

“Great hotel. The place was clean and looked great. My only complaint was that if you don't have a car, then taking the bus down town and back was a bit of a bear. The 3 bus was not always on time, and the route it takes stops far too often in my opinion leading to longer ride times. However if you took a cab or had a rental car this is not a problem.”

• Outrageous parking rules, expensive internet.

“Good hotel overall and excellent for the price, I wasn't carrying my laptop and needed to connect to the internet. Found out that it would cost $25 for 30 minutes in the business center. Parking rates were outrageously priced. $24 for 24 hours, which is ok for a city like Chicago but in and out privileges were available only with valet parking which cost $5 extra daily. After the first 24h, the rate is an additional $12 for the first additional hour, which sounds like a rip-off to me.”

“Stay at hotel was okay but not as what I had expected. Also, the hotel was not in the best part of town and was not convenient to downtown restaurants or nightlife. Would have liked to have been in walking distance to anything, but really was not.”

• The ice machine on my floor was disgusting, kids in sauna.

“Beautiful facility, excellent view, a little far from the Miracle Mile in a bad neighborhood but taxis plentiful. When I attempted to utilize the fitness/spa area it was filled with screaming kids in the pool, on gym equipment and in the sauna. Children were banging on the walls of the sauna between the men and women. This was at 10 pm, a time I might have expected to be adults only. The staff I encountered were exceptionally helpful and it was a restful stay when in my room. Very nice soaps and shampoos, etc. Beds very comfortable. Restaurant fairly good.”

• The mood was good.

“The mood and environment were really good. I liked that but my next rood was really noisy. It was a little bit annoying and the hotel employee was not so kindly. I asked some question but her attitude was so cold.”

• Networks restaurant was very pricey, but great service.

“This is the second time I have stayed at this hotel - once for business previously and this stay was with a group of out of town relatives. Located adjacent to the McCormick Place Convention Center, this hotel is very convenient for access to the Convention Center (reason for my previous stay), but pretty far out of the way for shopping trips to the Michigan Avenue area and site seeing around the city (reason for this stay). I would say the accommodations are a little bit above average. Very, very friendly staff and they were able to very efficiently accommodate all of our requests during our 3 day stay. The hot cocoa from "Perks" was awesome after an enjoyable, but chilly horse drawn carriage ride near Michigan Avenue. I would definitely stay here again during any future business I may have at the Convention Center.”

• The staff was very friendly and helpful. The shower was nice plenty of hot water and pressure.
• The location is not great, lacking in room amenities, room service coffee very watery.

“For people who are looking for a four star downtown experience, this isn't it. The location is a fair cab ride from downtown. There is a shuttle that will take you downtown from 8 am to 7 pm You need to make shuttle reservations as it fills up quickly which they don't tell you. In room amenities were very lacking. Fridge upon request and availability only as they have to bring it to your room. Ice machine was broken without a sign. When I called I was brought a bag of ice but a sign wasn't posted my entire stay. The room service coffee was weak and watery. The towels were small and not of good quality. This was more of a two star with nice beds.”

• My sheets were stained.

“My overall stay at the hotel was pleasant. But, I was not satisfied. My first two offers were denied and my third was accepted. I could have paid cheaper going through the hotel direct.”
