• Clean and modern renovated room. Very comfortable beds. Amazing view of Navy Pier and the Michigan lake.
• The front desk really needs a refresher course in customer service to qualify as a 4-star hotel. Drilling and jack hammer below us at 7 AM!

“The hotel room which looked and smelled just renovated was very comfortable and tastefully decorated. Great view of Navy Pier made up for very low ceiling in the room. The front desk including the manager (Diane) could use more charm and actual follow-through action when a guest calls to complain about jack hammer and drilling noise at 7 AM for two days in a row!”

• Hotel Restaurant was very expensive.

“Great hotel. Rooms are excellent, but all additional services, internet, business center and such, come at an extra charge. Hotel service is excellent, but room service food was substandard. I would certainly stay at this hotel again given the great comfort of the room, and the great workspace, great desk area, when traveling on business in Chicago.”

• Great location to Chicago attractions.
• We had requested a king bed prior to arrival and there was not availability at time of arrival.

“We loved the location of the hotel we walked to the Art Institute, Millennium Park, the Ford Theatre to see Wicked and some great restaurant, never needing a taxi. Very contemporary and comfortable.”

“Overall a very nice hotel 3-4 blocks off Michigan Ave, close to lots of dining and shopping. On the river. About a 6-7 block walk from the L train.”

• Hot water took over 10 minutes to start in the shower.

“Overall beautiful and great place to stay. Only thing was they didn't refresh the coffee or amenities in the room once I used them. Better overall room service would have improved the stay.”

• The fitness/swimming pool on the 42 floor.
• One had to wait too long for the elevator) 15 minutes to get from the 7th floor to the lobby.

• The workout facilities and bedding were excellent.
• The location was a bit difficult to access. Not bad though.

“Excellent value for Chicago. The hotel room was great with only a few outlet problems to bring the rating down. The bathroom was large and luxurious, including the separate shower stall and tub. The views of Navy Pier and the city were great. In walking distance of great food and shopping. We would definitely recommend this hotel to future guests.”

• The location was fantastic. Easy to get to many places in Portland from this hotel.
• I got a room with 2 double beds instead of a king, while I was with my spouse.

“The location of this hotel is awesome. The beds were very comfortable. The only negative I could find was that our faucet in the bathroom leaked. I also would prefer to know that I would be getting a room with two doubles compared to a king bed when you are traveling with your spouse.”

• Beautiful rooms, friendly staff.
• Terrible soundproofing. Could hear bipod next door at 6 am.

“The Swissotel was well-located, had beautiful rooms and friendly staff, but it had problems: long waits for elevators and terrible soundproofing. The hotel should reconsider the stereo systems in each room. We were woken by rowdy wedding guests and early risers using their stereos. We also were surprised by fees for gym use.”

“Excellent staff services. Hotel room was tastefully decorated with top modern furniture, all commodities, very spacious, quiet, great view, super-comfy beds, great bathroom, excellent exercise room and pool. Fantastic location right next to Magnificent Mile. Loved my stay from beginning to end.”

• Extremely nice rooms, good location, staff was very helpful and even upgraded our room.
• Parking was expensive 49.00 per night. Charge for using pool and fitness equipment.

“This hotel was better than I expected. At check in we were upgraded to an even larger room to accommodate us being next to the people we were traveling with. Very nice room overlooking Navy Pier. There is a parking garage less than 100 yds away for 29/per night but you must repay for in and out. Swishotel there was no in/out charge. Also 12. per person to use the pool or fitness center is a bit much, but the equipment and pool is top notch. Overall very pleased with the hotel staff were friendly, location was great and the beds are super comfortable.”

• Food was a bit pricey.

“The hotel was extremely clean and the staff was very helpful. The view was outstanding overlooking lake Michigan and the Navy pier. Had a 42" plasma TV and a separate shower and tub in the bath.”

• The room was fantastic. Very clean, spacious, well designed and the beds were just so comfortable.
• The rooms were not very child-friendly. A small microwave would have helped.

• The Concierge helped us find a great restaurant based on the food we told her we were looking for.
• The overnight parking is pricey but there is public parking for half price very close by.

“Overall, it was a great room. Very enjoyable and walking distance to anything on the Magnificent Mile. Very comfy bed and pillows.”

• We could only request a king size bed at check in- it would have been another 40.00 to get a king.

“I would classify this hotel as moderately upscale with clean, comfortable and polyester-free bedding. Large, flat-screen television pleased both my daughter and spouse. Comfy chair with back roll was also appreciated. Very good location, in my opinion. You're pretty well centered. Overall very good stay.”

• The staff were all very helpful, the breakfast buffet top was notch, location couldn't be better.
• We were on a floor were they were doing construction work during day hours; it was hard to take a nap due to some noise.

“Great location, views of the Navy Pier, great shopping and food close by. Bus stops and train is an easy walk for those of us who park and use mass transit. This is a fantastic place to stay on the loop and I hope to stay there again on another trip to Chicago this summer.”

• The beds were fabulous. swimming pool view is amazing.
• $49 to park overnight was a shock. No warning or option.

“Beautiful building, common areas, room and view. Although it was a bit "stuffy" for my taste. I opened the refrigerator door, shut it and was charged $22. After calling twice, it was removed from my bill. I would not come back to this hotel with my whole family. I believe it is more suited for business travelers. Over all though, my son very much enjoyed the experience and that was the whole reason I was there in the first place.”

“This hotel was lovely from the minute I stepped out of the taxi through the minute I checked out. Everything was clean and comfortable. I had to ask for new bedding because I am allergic to down, and they had everything changed out within 15 minutes. We will definitely stay there again.”

• The size of the TV.
• The toilet ran all night and the parking was $49 a night.

“The room was decent and clean. The bathroom toilet ran all night even after we called someone to fix it. They came quickly but said it would take a while to fix so they would do it after we checked out. We were not offered anything as compensation and it got louder. By morning I could not wait to leave the room. The overnight parking is $49 so we parked at a garage around the corner for half. Late checkout is on 12:30 pm instead of 1 pm like some places. Overall, an okay place to stay but I will not rave about it.”

• The European feel and the courteous staff.
• It lacked the warmth of other hotels. It's more modern.

“The location is wonderful; the valets were so nice; the other staff was kind and courteous. Our room was clean and modern and the bathroom was first rate and spacious. Full cash bar in the room, comfy beds, and the hallways were quiet. Great city view! We were very pleased, but it lacked the warmth that we experience in other hotels. Nothing wrong with that if you are into more modern accommodations. We were still very happy and would recommend this hotel to anyone. It's much cheaper than other hotels in the immediate area.”

• The room was beautiful with a great view. Location was excellent, close to Loop and River North.
• My only beef was the high parking rate of $49 per day (I parked elsewhere).

“This is a great hotel with a terrific location close to the Loop and the Magnificent Mile. Easy walking distance to the Art Institute and Millennium Park. Rooms are beautiful, and they have great views of the river or the lake. Parking rates are sky-high ($49), so I parked in a city garage near Grant Park for just $23 per day. Service was very good and friendly.”

“This was a very nice hotel. The room and beds were very clean and comfortable. It would have been nice to have a more economic restaurant to choose from. There was also a very nice workout room. We would stay here again, but plan on eating away from the hotel.”

• Location is good- Room well appointed-Plumbing needed to be fixed in the shower and toilets.
• The walls between the rooms were paper thin. We heard the all night screaming of "Anthony" and his consort most of the afternoon and through the night.

“Good location from Randolph street stations. Not near the theatre district/restaurants/bars. There is building going on in the high rises around the hotel--draw your curtains or the fells may get a jolly from ogling your girl/wife, they are that close on the 12th floor. Staff was attentive and nice. Very business savvy place.”

• I loved the location - near Navy Pier and Grant Park!
• Not being able to use the hot tub - broke Fri - Closed Sat. Broken light in entry of room.

“The Swimsuit is located within walking distance of Navy Pier and Grant Park. The staff is friendly. On our stay they were renovating some rooms and I learned of this at 7am - the constant hammering was annoying, but we had stores to explore, so we were up and out the door! The beds are very comfy - I was able to sign in early but as the hotel was at capacity, I still got my request of 2 double beds.”

“The overall hotel was very nice. The parking is too expensive. The location is great. They charged us for items we did not take from the mini fridge, but did adjust the bill when we informed them of the error. The hotel was very clean with new carpet and furnishings.”

• Location is not exactly convenient to major attractions.

“I was very impressed with the quality of the hotel. It is very well kept. The rooms look like they were all just done over (3/08) and the furniture and decorations are very nice. Most of the staff was very pleasant and helpful. I think, for a business hotel, Internet access should be complimentary like other hotels. It would also be nice if the plasma/LCD screens in the rooms had crisper reception or, better yet, high-definition channels. I would recommend the hotel to other people and would definitely stay there again.”

• The whole experience from check-in to check out.
• I was just sorry we had to leave early.

“The hotel was outstanding. Wait for the check- in a bit slow because apparently short staff. Clerk more than made up for the wait with her courtesy. Room clearly superior to most of the hotels we visit in Chicago. Staff very attentive and pleasant. A great experience-I would stay there anytime and highly recommend it.”

• The staff was friendly and the bedrooms were well put together.
• The cable channels in the bedroom were horrible. Have you heard of Disney?

“I was not impressed. I traveled with my oldest daughter who was turning 3 and they didn't have the Disney channel for her to watch on our adventure. I was a trauma for the rest of the trip. The hot tub was not working and that is the one thing that I wanted to do. So I would not stay here again.”

• Loved the queen beds with pillow toppers, the view of Lake Michigan/Navy Pier, and how sound proof the rooms were.
• Being from rural Wisconsin & very infrequently paying for parking-the cost of parking per day is quite shocking.

“Lovely modern interior decorating with beautiful rich wood used on main floor. Breakfast was nice especially because of the fruit and yogurt options. Didn't go to the restaurant because of our schedule.”

• Incredible view of the Navy Pier, very clean. The softest beds ever!
• Despite the no smoking sign, our room smelled faintly of smoke.

“Downtown Chicago: able to walk to many sites, able to take a cab to others. The hotel was beautiful. It was a bit confusing finding the hotel at first. The hotel is located on Upper Wacker and we drove around a little bit on Lower Wacker. After a call to the hotel we realized that we were on the wrong road. We did find the right one, but after further inspection it didn't seem that Upper and Lower were ever labeled, so as to help the traveler navigate.”

• Extremely clean and quick service when needed.
• Extremely expensive breakfasts. Not much going on in the hotel.

“We received great service, especially from the doormen. The hotel is extremely clean. When we needed service (TV remote broken), a service man was there in less than five minutes. On the down side, there isn't even as much as a free newspaper. Simple bacon and eggs for breakfast was more than $50 for two people. Seems high, and parking at $50 a day is very high. This being said the location is top notch, and the staff would answer any need we had.”
