“It's not conveniently near subway stops, it is very near other CTA options and only a short walk away from the lake, Navy Pier, and the Chicago Museum of Modern Art. If you can, you should definitely make this your residence while visiting Chi town!”

• The location was excellent and the breakfast buffet exceeded my expectations.

• The items in the continental breakfast was above and beyond expectations.
• Internet access was slow, but hey, it's complimentary so can't complain.

“This is an excellent hotel, I'd definitely recommend it without hesitation. The hotel is in a great location, just 1 1/2 blocks east of Michigan Ave. Our room was clean, quiet, and everything was in good condition. The public areas are well maintained and clean. The outside of the hotel is attractive from the street. Complimentary breakfast was above and beyond what was expected. It included hot items such as make-it-yourself Belgian waffles and Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches in addition to the traditional items such as fruit, yogurt, cold cereal, pastries, and muffins. We traveled with younger children and felt right at home.”

• The lobby was great very modern.

“Overall the hotel was very nice. The beds were small and uncomfortable and we did have to go to the front desk several times because our room keys wouldn't work. The rooms and hotel was very clean and the staff was very nice and helpful.”

• A little too modern - not homey feeling.

• Stains on pillow cases, sleeper sofa very uncomfortable, some dust on shelves.

“This hotel, while on the budget side, went above our expectations. It started with the location, right off Michigan Avenue. When you walk into the lobby, it was nice. It didn't look "budget." the room was nice. It was not five star or fancy or anything, but that's not what we expected but the room was nicer than we expected and it was extremely clean. The free breakfast and breakfast room was perfect for this trip. We will definitely stay there again and we'll go to Chicago more often knowing we can stay there at a good price for a nice room.”

• This hotel was very clean.
• The breakfast room was very busy.

“We were so happy with this hotel. The decorating was very up-to-date and it was extremely clean. This is probably the first hotel I have ever stayed at where I would have felt comfortable giving my kids a bath in the bathtub - it was that clean. The location is great - close to Michigan Ave - and there are great Tapas and Thai restaurants on the next block. The next time we go to Chicago, we'll definitely stay here again.”

• I really like the fact that the hotel uses duvet style blankets and not the standard bed cover.
• The breakfast room is much too small for the amount of people who take advantage of it.

“A great choice if you're staying downtown. I prefer this hotel to several of the nearby hotels in downtown. My wife and I live around the corner and I stayed here when her family came to town (needed the extra room at home). The bed was very comfortable and the room was new and clean. Definitely worth the price and slightly better than any hotel within several blocks.”

• Was very clean!
• The picture of the workout room shows a lot more equipment. Only 4 pieces of equipment and only 2 worked.

“The entire staff was very friendly. The hotel was very clean. The bed was comfortable. We felt very safe in this hotel too. The location is perfect! The hotel is 15 minutes in either direction to see all of Chicago. Day and night life. The only thing that my wife and I felt was misleading was the workout room. The picture also shows a lot more equipment. There are only 4 pieces of equipment and only 2 of them worked when we stayed there in march 07. We didn't go there to workout and we made up for it walking all over Chicago. It would be nice to know exactly what this hotel offers if they are going to show pictures. All other amenities were described properly.”

• This hotel was two blocks from Michigan avenue and close to shopping and good restaurants.
• We asked the front desk for directions to DePaul university, and the individual count not gives them to us.

“The hotel is very nice for the price. The location is excellent. Our room, though small, was very comfortable. We did not spend much time in the room, so the size was fine. The bed was extremely comfortable.”

• Cleaning crew was extraordinary.
• Expensive parking.

“Hotel room was very clean and quite. Cleaning crew surprised me how they went extra mile and even folded all of my clothes that was all over the room. I recommend this hotel to anyone who wants covenant location to shopping for reasonable price.”

• It was very close to all the places I wanted to visit. Good walking distance to all sites. Neighborhood felt very safe.
• The lobby is extremely plain.

• Fantastic location with great continental breakfast.
• Loud neighbors on 2 nights. But security talked to them.

• They billed me $1,300, causing my checking account to overdraw.

“When I came home I found that 'Fairfield Inn Chicago' had billed my check card $1,300, causing my checking account to be in overdraft state. They did clear the matter up quickly, but it took a trip to my bank. I'm just lucky my bank withdrew the overdraft charges and paid all the bills I have scheduled for the first of the month. My bank said next time use a credit card, you have more recourse.”

• Street and hall noise.

“Located near many downtown Chicago destinations, wonderful breakfast included. Noisy, but to be expected worth it for location. Some staff seemed too busy to be very helpful, but they cheerfully checked our bags so we could continue sightseeing and the valets gave us valuable directions.”

• They were very accommodating. Great location, continental breakfast, clean and reasonable rates.
• The self parking was $26.00 a night.

“My first room was right as you get off the elevator. I asked for a different room and instantly I was moved to a room far from the noise of an elevator. They were very accommodating. It is a great location - just 2 short blocks from the Magnificent mile. A good continental breakfast, a very clean room and reasonable rates make me want to stay here again.”

• continental breakfast was excellent with plenty of room
• The Merchandise Mart shuttle did not pass by

“Fairfield Inn was quick access to restaurants in the hub of the city. Elevators were quick and plentiful with excellent staff help. The continental breakfast was the best I have encountered going way beyond a mere doughnut to include waffles and hard boiled eggs. I was totally impressed.”

• The first person we talked to behing the desk, Adriana, was very friendly and went out of her way to switch us to a room with two beds

“The Fairfield Inn Downtown was a wonderful hotel. In our five night stay we were treated with friendliness and courtesy by the entire staff. Our room was clean, quiet, and well kept. The newspaper at the door each morning was a nice touch and the complimentary breakfast was great.All that combined with the hotel's great location made for a great stay.”
