• Friendly staff, comfortable beds, and great decor.
• Small rooms.

“First of all I'll cover the only negative just to get it out of the way, the rooms and bathrooms are a bit small. But the rest was great, the staff was polite and friendly and looked after our bags even after we had checked out, so we could enjoy the rest of the day. The beds duvet and pillows are amazingly comfortable, in fact I'd like to know the brand so I can buy a set for home. That coupled with the interesting decor and large screen TV made sure that the one morning I spent recovering was actually almost enjoyable. In the end I would highly recommend it.”

• Location was good for us.
• We arrived early and could not get in. When we finally checked in, it took quite a while to get our luggage delivered.

• Very gracious and helpful staff at every turn! The wine hour! The white bedding!
• Missed the coffee maker in the room--would have used the refrigerator if discovered or known.

“We enjoyed the pleasantness of all the staff. Very comfortable room -- no heater/air conditioner noise! The location was perfect for the variety of activities we'd planned -- appreciated the heads up warning about the garage and the marathon too! We would return.”

• Modern but very warm feel.
• Rooms were a bit small but worth if for the location.

“All of the staff were very helpful and treated us just as though we were full-paying customers. The lobby was really modern and beautiful and we really enjoyed spending time there for the 5 o'clock wine hour. Though are room was a bit small, it was very clean, well decorated, and very quiet.”

• Very tiny - if you opened the bathroom door you could not get through the foyer hallway - bed lumpy - very tiny!

“A great spot for the theater district. The rooms are small because of the age of the hotel but the make over it received is excellent. The rooms are small but all we did was sleep and shower there.”

• Beautifully decorated rooms & lobby, free wine hour, soaking tub high end TV/soaps.
• Paper thin walls, tiny rooms, dogs barking down the hall no river view, restaurant had weird hours due to holiday.

“I enjoyed our stay here because the hotel was definitely upscale and offered a free wine hour each day. I enjoyed the coffee table books meant for browsing in the lobby-very artsy. The room had great bathtub to soak in, nice television and was artfully decorated. The only downside was the walls were thin and I could hear the dogs down the hall bark/person next door showering, etc. Also, the valet could have been friendlier, pretty much ignored us when we first pulled up. The concierge was really nice but the lady serving wine in the lobby was rude.”

• Great design
• The rooms were noisy, I could hear the kid taking a bath next door and what he was saying!

“This is a beautiful hotel in a great location. The design in the hotel is beautiful from the entrance, to the lobby to the rooms. If there is any downside, I would say that the rooms are not soundproof, we could hear anyone in the hallway and in the morning, we could hear the kids taking a bath in the room next door and what he was saying. But, we loved spending time in the hotel and even took advantage of happy hour because we liked the design so much.”

• The hotel has a convenient location and is very stylized.
• The room was about the smallest hotel room in Chicago I've ever been in.

“The hotel looks nice, very stylized. The concierge can't provide you with any information for anything other than downtown. If you're going to go beyond there you need to do your own research. The biggest issue is that the rooms are super small and the one I was in didn't even have a closet or a luggage caddy. I ended up using the ironing board for my suitcase. It looks like the bathroom used to be the closet. I've never seen a hotel bathroom that small.”

• Free wine hour, helpful concierge and lovely atmosphere
• We had one encounter with late night staff members that was rude and unpleasent.

“Hotel Allegro was absolutely lovely. The interior decor was very chic, it was one of the first hotels that I've stayed in where we wanted to spend time lounging around and soaking up the atmosphere. The extra ammenities--free wine hour, Aveda shampoos and soaps, free New York Times when we left Monday morning--made it a great value. The concierge and daytime desk staff were very friendly and helpful. We did have one instance where a night time desk staff person was rude and unfriendly, but overall our experience at the hotel was positive.”

• Would be nice if they had a pool and restaurant that was not so expensive.

• We arrived by Amtrak and found location to be very convenient.

“This hotel has been recently refurbished in a very attractive manor. The room we had was very comfortable. We would stay there again for sure, especially at the Priceline rate.”

• Comfortable bed.
• The breakfeast was terrible.

“Everything was great except for one thing which turned us off a lot. The free breakfeast, which was supposed to be continental, was terrible. You had to wait in line while people order late's, coffees, etc. before you can even get your food. When you are able to get your food, only a bagel and juice are free. You had to pay for yogurt, tea, coffee, etc. Not to mention the lady working the breakfeast bar was rude. It was a terrible way to start our day. Thankfully, there were some better places to get a cheaper breakfeast than this one.”

• Great location, beautiful decor.
• All conveniences in the mini-bar and no where else.

“Great location in the Chicago Loop. Staff very nice. Comfortable beds. Big flat screen TV with cable. Free wireless internet. Nothing open late at night in immediate vicinity. No snack or pop machines in the building, only recourse is the mini-bar. Walls are thin conversations in the next room come right through. Not inexpensive, but then nothing in the Loop is. Valet parking $48/day.”

• I loved the funky vibe and the ridiculous dance music playing in the elevators, lobby, and front walk of hotel.
• Coffee and tea were not complimentary.

“You can't beat Allegro's location in the loop. It was a few minutes walk to so many different sites and theatres. It has a very funky, upbeat vibe with the constant house music playing at high volume in the lobby, elevators, and on the front walk of the hotel outside. Every day we rounded the corner to come back to the hotel the music hit us and we'd smirk at the "welcome home" it provided.”

“Great modernized classic hotel. Room was a little small, but modern amenities, super comfortable bed, flat panel TV, I-pod playing radio and free Wi-Fi made it very livable. For a weekend trip it was perfect! Great staff too!”

“This hotel is a great boutique hotel in the center of Chicago's theatre district. It was very convenient to shopping and restaurants as well. Modern decor was nicely done. Rooms are small but comfortable. Encountered friendly, helpful staff both upon check in as well as check out.”

• The location was great!
• The noisy elevator.

“The hotel location was great. It was clean and had a nice atmosphere. We stayed on the top floor near the elevators, and they were very noisy! I was up most of the night because I couldn't sleep due to the noise. I heard the elevator clunk every time it stopped at a floor. I gave up trying to sleep by 5:30 am. Great location, but I wouldn't stay here if you're a light sleeper or need to get your sleep at night.”

• The front desk staff was not as friendly or helpful as I thought they should be.

“The hotel is beautiful and conveniently located near the things I needed to get to. I did not like it that you have to get to your room (mine was on the 16th floor) and was told I had to go back to the front desk to get a key to open the refrigerator and condiments cabinet. Front desk person told me I was supposed to ask for this when I checked in. Excuse me how was I supposed to know this. This was not a good start to my stay there, but the place was very nice - beautiful lounge areas.”

• Excellent staff, nice and clean. Great bed. Quiet. Very nice hotel.
• Lack of place to hang clothes, no coffee pot or free coffee available. No counter top in bathroom.

“Everything was great, from service to the room itself. Liked the quality bed linens and bath towels, etc. Great location, within walking distance of everything downtown. Good restaurants nearby. We would definitely come back to this hotel.”

• Close to L train, train to ORD.
• Sink was too small, splashed all over floor, beds were too short.

“No in-room amenity. Didn't know calls were $1, even 1-800 ones. Joined Kimpton Hotel Club, but no paper or free coffee offered. It was mentioned in key holder, so I got a free coffee (reluctantly). Valet parking nice (although $48). Looks clean.”

• Doormen and service staff, all called me by name. Love it!
• Size of the rooms. I had a 2 year old and my wife, very tight.

• The concierge and valet personnel were awesome.
• The room was very small.

“The location was in the theater district which was perfect, of course, when we went to Wicked (2 blocks away from Oriental Ford Theater). We were within walking distance of Magnificent Mile for shopping and dining. Only drawback, room was no larger than my own bedroom, nice and comfortable, but very small. Good fitness room.”

• It was really neat hotel everything had you wanting to see more.
• The staff was not to nice we found 3 people that was nice out of all of them also when we asked about a good place for lunch the guy said our hotel.

“The hotel was a fun place to stay really nice decor would go back. but the staff just did not feel really friendly and helpful. I found 3 people that helped and always had a smile on and willing to help. we loved the free wine from 5-6. We had a fun great weekend and felt safe.”
