“Overall we had a very good experience at this hotel. We found the location to be convenient. The restaurants & shops inside the hotel were VERY nice! The room was a bit smaller than we expected but it had everything we needed and then some. Our only complaint is about the elevators. There are no stairs to get to the rooms and we often had to wait in excess of 10 minutes to get on one of the 5 elevators.” Aug 3, 2009 by
Enrico from Toronto,Canada

“We kept a smile on our faces, and went back to the front desk with kindness and understanding in our hearts. Maybe that is why we were upgraded to the presidential suite at the Drake (at no extra charge). This room was easily 2000 square feet of living space with enough room to throw a party for 50 people.” May 29, 2009 by
from Brooklyn Park,MN
“The room smelled horribly of smoke, there was a May 2, 2009 by

“The hotel was a huge letdown. I will never stay there again. Everything is extra including a $7 bottle of water (ice mountain), 3.50/hr for internet, $35/night parking, since the self park lot was full they made us pay full price to have the car valeted which was $50 a night. Generally everyone at the hotel was overly snobby. My room was 150 square feet including the bathroom. Breakfast was a minimum of $50 for 2 people.$7 for an egg that. We couldn't even eat at the restaurant because you basically needed a suit and tie to not feel under dressed. Thank God the elevator went all the way to the basement so we could avoid most of the snobs.” Apr 21, 2009 by
Lisa from Evergreen Park,IL

“Truly a beautiful hotel with exceptionally friendly and courteous staff, the rooms reminded me of the Copley Plaza hotel in Boston, richly decorated from beds to sitting area to window treatments. The beds were extremely comfortable, unlike most hotels. The concierge, provided us excellent tips to make the most of our two-day stay. She also orchestrated the hotel limo to drive us to the aquarium Friday morning; this was one of the many highlights of our stay in the hotel. Also, two of the mornings, we had breakfast in the café beneath the main lobby of the hotel. They have a large menu of offerings with various coffees and breakfast sandwiches, and all were delicious. We will definitely stay here again! Thank you.” Mar 14, 2009 by

“Friendly and helpful staff. The room was clean and comfortable, but was very hot. Chicago was having unseasonable warm temperatures. The lobby is beautiful.” Feb 19, 2009 by
John from Delafield,WY
“Overall a very good experience. Hotel staff was not. Executive lounge is a walk up two flights of stairs to 11 with no access to elevator on that floor. Room was large and furnished well. Service at the front desk was cold and unhelpful.” Feb 17, 2009 by
Carol from Forsyth,IL
“A beautiful elegant hotel with large rooms close to shopping.” Feb 11, 2009 by
Kurt from St. Louis,MO
“historic hotel, good location” Feb 9, 2009 by
Christine from Carrollton,TX
“Overall I loved going there - I got I could never complain! I did have a couple of problems with the room (not big ones). The sink in the bathroom leaked but it was so far away from the bedroom it didn't bother us. The coffee maker didn't work right. Our view was of another side of the next building over and our fire escape. This hotel has the potential to have some fabulous views (i.e. lake Michigan) but we didn't have that. But other then that it was great! The towels were thick and soft, the bed was comfortable for both my husband and me, and the duck down comforter and pillows were also wonderful! We do plan on going back.” Jan 28, 2009 by
Angie from Serena,IL
“Our room was in a renovated floor and we were told that we were the first ones to stay in the hotel. Definitely an old guard hotel, but it was fabulous, not a single complaint about anything. The staff especially was helpful and very professional. I loved it and would love to go again!” Jan 28, 2009 by
Maggie from Ishpeming,MI
“The hotel was fabulous, very grand, so much history! The staff was very nice, not snobby. I felt completely at ease here, even though I am not used to so much luxury. The pub restaurant on site was a very good place to eat.” Jan 27, 2009 by
Jen from Valley Village,CA

“This is a great hotel with some great nastalga. I will stay there again for sure. Great location, 300ft from Miricle Mile. Service is what you would expect from a 4star. Staff was very freindly and helpful. Rooms are great and spacious and show some of the real history of the hotel.” Dec 5, 2008 by
Dani from Bourbonnais,IL
“I think back in the day, this was a grand hotel. It seems to need a little updating. The rooms are very small (at least the room we had was). I am glad I was able to stay in this hotel. However, I would not choose it in the future.” Dec 1, 2008 by
Cole from Omaha,NE “This hotel is a great place to stay for a long or quick trip. Located toward the end of the mile, but easy access to all the shopping and dining that you could want!” Nov 24, 2008 by

“I felt that they should have found a suitable room. The drain in the bath was clogged. This has happened every time I have stayed there. I think the old pipes can't be fixed. It is getting a bit run down.” Nov 11, 2008 by
Paul from Noblesville,IN
“You can't go wrong with this hotel. The staff were the best I have ever dealt with. They were attentive to every need and went out of their way to make our stay pleasant and memorable.” Nov 10, 2008 by
Julie from Franklin,MI
“The Drake is one of Chicago's premier hotels. It has been a landmark since the early 1900's but is continually updated to maintain its superior facility. The location is great and the staff is very accommodating. I would recommend this hotel to everyone.” Nov 6, 2008 by
Deborah from St Clairsville
“Very disappointed in The Drake. Room was not ready when we tried to check in around 3:30. Carpet was very dirty - badly stained and crumbs from former guests' food. Bathroom floor was dirty, especially accumulated in corners. Also, we were not able to sleep because of noise coming from another rooom - walls are thin. Will not stay there again, knowing that there are other much nicer and cleaner hotels in that same general area.” Nov 5, 2008 by

“Tons of history. Sophisticated. Great location.” Nov 3, 2008 by

“This is an excellent place to stay!! Michigan Avenue shops and museums are very convenient. Not as convenient if you are with people who have difficulty walking. Beautiful and elegant!” Sep 17, 2008 by

“The service in this hotel was better than any other hotel I have stayed in. The lobby was beautiful and all of the facilities were very well maintained. The hotel was located in downtown Chicago and very convenient to everything. We had lunch and a late night appetizer in the hotel and both meals were very good. The clam chowder in Coq d'Or was some of the best chowder I have ever tasted, full of chunks of clams and potatoes and it was perfectly seasoned. I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone looking for world class service, good restaurants and conveniently located downtown.” Sep 16, 2008 by

“The hotel and room was nice, clean, and scenic overlooking Lake Michigan. $50 to park your car over night is outrageous. This more than anything is why I would not return to this hotel.” Aug 25, 2008 by
