“This old stately hotel is beautiful and well maintained. The staff is very helpful and friendly. If you are looking for new and modern this is not the hotel for you. They need to improve retrieval time for your car at $49 per night for valet they are way to slow.” Oct 20, 2009 by
Kris from Cedar Falls,IA
“We stayed here for two nights and had a very nice stay. Hotel was close to a lot of things and very easy to get around. Room service was available.” Oct 13, 2009 by
Diane from Fort Wayne,IN
“Location was good, lobby and rooms were clean and nicely furnished but it has very few amenities, if any, for accommodating children, certainly not what I would call a family friendly hotel.” Oct 13, 2009 by
Jody from Toronto,Canada
“Old. Bathrooms had mold in the shower and low water pressure.” Sep 24, 2009 by
Sandy from West Des Moines,IA
“I would definitely recommend this hotel.” Sep 24, 2009 by

“ This hotel is older but absolute great. We had a wonderful time and location and amenities were superior. ” Sep 16, 2009 by
Linda from Fairview,NC
“The entrance area was lovely and all the people were helpful. There was very limited lobby area to sit and read or have a cup of coffee, at least I could not find it. My room far surpassed what I expected for the price I paid and we had a great view of roof top gardens and the lake. Everything was good except that there was an extra charge for use of the computers in the business center and for the work out facilities which made a short workout a bit pricey. We stayed at other less expensive places during this trip that do not charge for these services. I would go back if I could get the same price, but would competitively shop for these extras to be in the overnight charges if I was paying the full price.” Sep 16, 2009 by
Matt from Minneapolis,MN
“The Drake was probably an incredible hotel several decades ago, which appears to have been the last time any updating was done. The bathroom fixtures were hideous, as was the bathroom in general. Also, the TV in the room was a vacuum tube Zenith Circa 1990 that was housed in a bulky armoire” Sep 15, 2009 by
Bob from Central City,KY
“Hotel is a classic. Beautifully decorated and elegant. Location for downtown activities is excellent. Some rooms have great views of the waterfront. Staff was very helpful and friendly and I have to give major props to the concierge.” Aug 27, 2009 by
Jane from Celina,OH

“Had an excellent experience in the hotel, but felt the bellhop was very rude when we were leaving loading our car in front of the hotel. We were going very quickly and as quick as possible, yet he was yelling at us to hurry, close the doors and to leave faster than was possible. It was extremely rude. We had every right after spending so much money and time at the hotel to not feel rushed to leave. That was totally uncalled for.” Aug 5, 2009 by
Kerry from De Pere,WI
“Overall we had a very good experience at this hotel. We found the location to be convenient. The restaurants & shops inside the hotel were VERY nice! The room was a bit smaller than we expected but it had everything we needed and then some. Our only complaint is about the elevators. There are no stairs to get to the rooms and we often had to wait in excess of 10 minutes to get on one of the 5 elevators.” Aug 3, 2009 by
Enrico from Toronto,Canada

“We kept a smile on our faces, and went back to the front desk with kindness and understanding in our hearts. Maybe that is why we were upgraded to the presidential suite at the Drake (at no extra charge). This room was easily 2000 square feet of living space with enough room to throw a party for 50 people.” May 29, 2009 by
from Brooklyn Park,MN
“The room smelled horribly of smoke, there was a May 2, 2009 by

Toni from Urbana,IL “The beds were comfortable and the sheets were fabulous.” Apr 23, 2009 by

“The hotel was a huge letdown. I will never stay there again. Everything is extra including a $7 bottle of water (ice mountain), 3.50/hr for internet, $35/night parking, since the self park lot was full they made us pay full price to have the car valeted which was $50 a night. Generally everyone at the hotel was overly snobby. My room was 150 square feet including the bathroom. Breakfast was a minimum of $50 for 2 people.$7 for an egg that. We couldn't even eat at the restaurant because you basically needed a suit and tie to not feel under dressed. Thank God the elevator went all the way to the basement so we could avoid most of the snobs.” Apr 21, 2009 by
Lisa from Evergreen Park,IL
“The hotel was very nice and the staff was very helpful.” Apr 1, 2009 by
Lisa from Centerville,OH
“Truly a beautiful hotel with exceptionally friendly and courteous staff, the rooms reminded me of the Copley Plaza hotel in Boston, richly decorated from beds to sitting area to window treatments. The beds were extremely comfortable, unlike most hotels. The concierge, provided us excellent tips to make the most of our two-day stay. She also orchestrated the hotel limo to drive us to the aquarium Friday morning; this was one of the many highlights of our stay in the hotel. Also, two of the mornings, we had breakfast in the café beneath the main lobby of the hotel. They have a large menu of offerings with various coffees and breakfast sandwiches, and all were delicious. We will definitely stay here again! Thank you.” Mar 14, 2009 by
Debra from Costa Mesa,CA
“Great historic hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. Wonderful location near the lake an shopping.” Mar 14, 2009 by

“The Drake is a lovely old hotel. All the amenities that you would expect were provided. However, our room was so hot and the thermostat did not work.” Mar 2, 2009 by
Mary from Fishers,IN
“Friendly and helpful staff. The room was clean and comfortable, but was very hot. Chicago was having unseasonable warm temperatures. The lobby is beautiful.” Feb 19, 2009 by
John from Delafield,WY
“Overall a very good experience. Hotel staff was not. Executive lounge is a walk up two flights of stairs to 11 with no access to elevator on that floor. Room was large and furnished well. Service at the front desk was cold and unhelpful.” Feb 17, 2009 by
Carol from Forsyth,IL
“A beautiful elegant hotel with large rooms close to shopping.” Feb 11, 2009 by
Kurt from St. Louis,MO
“historic hotel, good location” Feb 9, 2009 by
Christine from Carrollton,TX
“Overall I loved going there - I got I could never complain! I did have a couple of problems with the room (not big ones). The sink in the bathroom leaked but it was so far away from the bedroom it didn't bother us. The coffee maker didn't work right. Our view was of another side of the next building over and our fire escape. This hotel has the potential to have some fabulous views (i.e. lake Michigan) but we didn't have that. But other then that it was great! The towels were thick and soft, the bed was comfortable for both my husband and me, and the duck down comforter and pillows were also wonderful! We do plan on going back.” Jan 28, 2009 by
Angie from Serena,IL
“Our room was in a renovated floor and we were told that we were the first ones to stay in the hotel. Definitely an old guard hotel, but it was fabulous, not a single complaint about anything. The staff especially was helpful and very professional. I loved it and would love to go again!” Jan 28, 2009 by
Maggie from Ishpeming,MI
“The hotel was fabulous, very grand, so much history! The staff was very nice, not snobby. I felt completely at ease here, even though I am not used to so much luxury. The pub restaurant on site was a very good place to eat.” Jan 27, 2009 by
Jen from Valley Village,CA

“This is a great hotel with some great nastalga. I will stay there again for sure. Great location, 300ft from Miricle Mile. Service is what you would expect from a 4star. Staff was very freindly and helpful. Rooms are great and spacious and show some of the real history of the hotel.” Dec 5, 2008 by
Dani from Bourbonnais,IL
“I think back in the day, this was a grand hotel. It seems to need a little updating. The rooms are very small (at least the room we had was). I am glad I was able to stay in this hotel. However, I would not choose it in the future.” Dec 1, 2008 by
Cole from Omaha,NE “This hotel is a great place to stay for a long or quick trip. Located toward the end of the mile, but easy access to all the shopping and dining that you could want!” Nov 24, 2008 by
