• Great location.
• Small dated rooms with stained carpet and flaking paint.

“Over all good stay, although I would be extremely disappointed if I had paid full price. The rooms were small with stained worn out carpet, chipping paint. The hotel definitely shows its age. I would not rate this 5 star. It was nice, but no more than 3 stars.”

• Very stunning entrance. Rooms are lovely.
• Bathroom hot faucet handle was broken. The pipe moved sideways, up and down. It was awful, but we did not complain.

“The bathroom hot faucet handle was broken, which the maid had to have noticed when cleaning the the sink. It was unacceptable. The parking was outrageously expensive. We were not prepared to pay $53/night, plus the tips involved with taking advantage of the in/out privilege, which made us feel very uncomfortable because obviously the valet who took the car from us expected a tip and the valet who brought the car to us expected a tip as well. As much as we enjoyed your lovely hotel, we would not come back because of the parking situation.”

“This hotel was awesome! Right in the middle of the Magnificent Mile, N. Michigan Ave. Room was very well appointed with a flat screen TV and very upscale bathroom design. I requested a high floor and just like that I was on the 36th of 38th floor! Location plus a well appointed room in a very modern styled hotel!”

• Charged for internet, parking was very expensive, had to pay extra for fitness room, rooms were small.

“Historical hotel in a great location. Convenient to everything. Rooms were small and there was an additional charge for the use of the fitness room and internet. Parking was ridiculously expensive at $53 a day.”

“ Great hotel. We loved taking advantage to the historic and charming pool and dry sauna. The room was very beautiful, clean and spacious, staff was always friendly. Would definitely stay here again and will recommend to friends. ”

• Great location in downtown Chicago.
• Unsure what to do about the valet parking, and staff with heavy foreign accents are hard to understand.

“Very nice hotel although everything is expensive. But I guess that's part of why we wanted to go there. Great place to stay if you want to shop in downtown Chicago.”

• Left room around noon and had to call housekeeping at 5:30pm to make up room.

• Beautiful, comfortable, and attentive staff.
• Room was dirty.

“When checking under beds before checkout for our stuff we found someone's empty water bottle, lipstick, open snack bar, shopping bag and dead bug. They had to come replace a light bulb, and fix the TV. The drapes were coming down on one side.”

• Great location with superb view of Chicago skyline.
• Noisy pipes between our room and adjoining one.

“Located on Michigan Avenue amid the throngs of urban shoppers and tourists, the hotel is perfectly situated for easy access to shops and Grant Park. The El station is about a 10-minute walk from the hotel, and cabs are plentiful on the street in front. Our 18th-floor window looked right out at some historic buildings. The Starbucks adjoining the lobby is a godsend. Would certainly stay here again.”

public transportation. The restaurant & bar serve fine cuisine and provide engaging ambience. Despite a room assignment misstep, the hotel responded to correct the deficiency.”

• The manager was responsive when I protested a fee for an upgrade of room. It had been my impression I had the better room.

“I would highly recommend the Intercontinental in Chicago. I my opinion, it had the absolute best location in the City. Close to everything, very attractive and historic hotel.

• Very outgoing staffs who maintains a beautiful hotel.
  
• Accessibility to ice machines was limited.

“The staff at the Intercontinental went out of their way to ensure we had a wonderful time. There was an issue in our room when we first got there, and as an apology and a thank you for our patience, one staff member brought us a fruit basket and beverages. I am looking forward to staying at the Intercontinental again soon!”

• Nothing like other 4 star hotels I have stayed in.

“Location great! Rooms small and very crowded with peeling wall paper,old furniture and fixtures. There was no attention to details. Parking more expensive. The hotel seems to cater to large groups. No personal service. Could not
even find a seat in the bar due to large groups. I would not stay here again! The only thing the hotel has going for it is the location.”

• The room was too small for 3 people.

“The hotel itself was great. However upon check in, they gave us 2 double beds with no rollaway allowed because of the small size of the room. We therefore had to pay to move to a larger room where we were allowed a rollaway.”

• Our particular view wasn't the best.

• Location. Perfectly centered from major Chicago attractions.
• Pool wasn't that great, definitely not for younger kids. No hot tub.

“Check in was nice and easy. Room was slightly smaller than what I'm used to. Pool is definitely geared towards adults. Staff (bartenders, valet, bell-hop, concierge) went way out of the way to make sure our stay was perfect. Access to Starbucks in lobby, which was nice. Perfect location, close to Water tower Place for shopping, Navy Pier & Millennium Park, and great restaurants.”

“Upon arrival the lobby was overly crowded with nothing much going on except people waiting. On a side note I had called earlier in the week to ensure that some questions were asked prior to arrival on certain requests that we had since we were traveling with a group. I do not think I would ever stay at that hotel.”

• Start to finish quality, convenience and comfort.
• Checking out but leaving our car in the valet - the bellman decided to carry each bag (7) up and down steps rather than pull car around to load.

“Excellent - valet parking is quite high, so factor that in - $50.00/day - otherwise start to finish quality, convenience, and comfort!”

• Exceeded our expectations. The staff was excellent and service was way above average.
• I can't think of anything. We were 100% satisfied.

“Easy to find from I-94, directions provided by hotel were explicit. Valet parking at the door was very convenient and prompt; outbound was the same. The rooms were attractive and obviously updated recently. The beds and linens were very comfortable. I would love to stay there again, and have told several friends already about our great experience.”

• The hotel was much too pricey. You had to pay for everything.

“The hotel decor was very nice (especially the fresh orchids in the lobbies), the view from the room was fabulous and the towels were the largest that I've ever seen. It was a good for being extravagant; however, I've stayed in moderately priced hotels that looked just as good and had perks that far surpassed this one. The amenities in the bathroom were nice, everything else was ridiculous ($7.00 for a bottle of water, no free internet connection). Please - you expect some perks at a 4-star hotel. Oh & that same bottle of water was $9.00 via room service and $2.00 in the gift shop. Needless to say, I brought my own.”

“The hotel is located right downtown, and a 15 minute walk from the Navy Pier. Everything downtown is close at hand, and usually within walking distance. We loved the hotel, and would stay there again in a heartbeat!”

• Excellent location, nice view of Lake Michigan from 23rd floor room we had.
• No Sunday newspaper. We did get one on Saturday.

“Excellent location on Michigan Ave near Wrigley Bldg. We had a lake view room on the 23rd floor which was furnished with a king bed and flat panel TV. Room was large enough to accommodate the bed and a couch without feeling cramped. The staff was friendly and efficient, check-in and out were quickly done. Overall, a solid four star property and a great value for the price.”
