- The staff were very friendly and accomodating, the location was great for what we came for.
- I would have loved continental breakfast, but overlooked that since everything else was great.

- The location was perfect for our visit to Chicago with easy access to public transportation, restaurants and museums.
- The exterior appears quite dated and in need of renovation.
“Despite the rather shabby exterior of the hotel, we were pleasantly surprised. The hotel was immaculately clean in the public areas, as well as in our attractively appointed room. We had easy access to public transportation, the staff eagerly answered our questions and provided helpful information.”

- Location central to El and Bus Line.
- Front desk forgot to call for car after in-person request.
“This hotel is a good value for the location on Michigan Ave. Northern Michigan Ave is the main shopping destination, however with the bus line and El so close to the hotel, you can get anywhere downtown fairly quickly. It is within walking distance of big museums. The room was clean with pleasant decor. Bring your own pillow, though, these were flimsy without support. While I felt safe here, it is always best to be unguarded. A street person attempted to walk away with our bags after we unloaded them from the car.”

- I liked the location. It was close to the Shedd Aquarium, Planetarium, Field Museum, Grant Park and the beautiful lake.
- It was a small room and small bathroom.

- Just off lake and museum campus, great restaurant downstairs.
- Beds could have been better, we had backaches in the morning.
“My husband and our two boys enjoyed our stay at the hotel, it was comfortable for four in our double sized room, good views, good service, excellent restaurant, small but nice outdoor pool area, safe. Interesting area with shops and restaurants. We were within walking distance to the museum campus across the street in Grant Park.”

- The hotel room was clean and comfortable and the hotel was convenient for me.
- The front desk staff seemed a bit standoffish but otherwise there was no problem.
“The hotel was quite convenient for me. Earlier reviews had already warned me that the outside of the hotel was not all that remarkable and that was true. The exterior was pretty drab. The inside of the hotel was alright enough though it probably could have been brighter or more inviting. The room was clean and inviting. The woman who cleaned my room was always nice and inviting though the front desk staff could have been a bit more engaging. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and had no problems. I'd definitely stay again and I'd recommend it to anyone who was going to Chicago and was looking for a nice place to stay at a good price.”

- The hotel restaurant was very nice and had good food. Nice bar. Nice and friendly staff.
- Parking ramp was 'closed' for repair. Luckily we got a spot across the street and didn't have to pay for parking.
“When we first pulled up we noticed right away that the parking garage was closed. Luckily while we were parked in front to unload our luggage we saw some spots open up right in front of the building across the street so we parked there for nothing. Location was very convenient. Beds were very comfortable. Rooms were clean and staff was friendly. Great food in the hotel restaurant and the bar stayed open till we left around 11:30. We would definitely stay there again!”

- I loved the cleanliness of the hotel & room & the friendly staff. This hotel is in an excellent location for sightseeing.
- There was no room service.

- The front desk staff was pleasant.

“Initially I was satisfied with the staffs friendliness. The breakfast buffet was horrible and a waste of money! The biggest disappointment was the noise. I was on the 9th floor and was awaken very early in the morning by workers on the roof, hammering, talking and singing! I should have been made aware of this prior to check in and then been given an option. When I spoke to the front desk about my disappointment I was only offered a lame apology. They could have at least offered a complimentary breakfast, especially since the breakfast was not worth paying for!”

- The ease of parking on arrival (valet service).
- The nightmare of parking upon departure (an hour delay due to poor valet service).
“This is an aging hotel with a moderately ideal location (though in summer, the location would be GREAT right next to Grant Park). If you choose their valet parking, give them an hour to go get your vehicle, even though their materials say to allow 20 minutes. The room had no "do not disturb sign," and the room was VERY cold given inefficient windows and a very cold and windy night (even with the thermostat on 90, its highest setting, the room took three hours to warm up). The maid had left a pillowcase on top of the coffee maker, and the bathroom had no heater. The restaurant menu and room service were advertised in the elevator, but no room service menu was available in the room. When I went down to the restaurant, I found it was closed even though I visited two hours before the posted closing. All in all, the hotel is a very amateur operation and its service and facilities are not equal to the price I had to pay. No bargain on this stay.”

- Light fixtures and TV were not in working order when we arrived. Extra keycards could not be provided post registration.
“Best western grant park is located within convenient walking distance from convention facilities (Hilton) and major transpiration. Rooms are functional and fairly clean but not spotless. Free internet access is definitely a plus.”

- Had a smaller, more intimate feeling, also near the loop which was our destination.
- The room was not at all sound proof because the wall did not go to the corner only a strip of metal where the walls met.
“A group of very loud men were in the next room. Even after a call to the lobby desk at 1a.m., we were kept awake until 3a.m. Our friends down the hall even heard the noise. We mentioned this at check out time, and the clerk mumbled, "sorry about that". The rooms were lovely, but the night was short!”

- The front desk staff was very friendly. They connected us to a 24 hr restaurant that delivers to the hotel.
- The cleaning staff didn't properly clean the room. They left dirty cups and coffee maker, and discarded food.
“I would definitely use this hotel again. The staff was very friendly. I reported the problem with the maid service to the front desk. The front desk was very helpful in providing us with a menu of a restaurant the delivers to the hotel 24 hours a day. This was great since we checked in approximately 11:30 pm. There is an adjacent restaurant that provides room service until 10pm each night. It was clean, and modern with a variety of different cuisines on the menu. The hotel is an easy walk to downtown Chicago attractions.”

- Our heater did not work and when the staff couldn't fix it they had a problem with giving us a new room with a working heater!
“It seems that they don't maintain their rooms very well. Our heater didn't work and we had the pleasure of watching the maintenance man pull an incredibly filthy filter out of the heating unit. Then, as the heater proceeded to "smoke," the fix it man tried to tell us that it was working just fine! After a lot of hassle, and no empathy from the staff, we finally got a new room! It was awful!”

- Large cockroach crawling on floor in restaurant. Mgr said not cockroach (it was) - never apologized. Did comp meal, but.

- Inexpensive for downtown Chicago.
- South of everything downtown.
“Friendly staff. Functional room. A bit south of most things in the loop. Probably, a cab ride. Overall, inexpensive for location and clean.”

- Proximity to Grant Park.
- No parking, which is unacceptable.
“The parking garage was closed for "renovation," yet hotel employees parked in it. Valet parking was not available. The hotel staff was inattentive and many times, the front desk was vacant. I would not stay at this hotel again.”

- Nothing.
- I was lied to by staff.
“I had asked for a non-smoking room and upon checking was told that I got moved (upgraded) to a smoking room with a view of lake Michigan because the hotel was totally booked. I asked the receptionist 3 times if he was sure that I would be able to see the lake and he assured me that I would be able to. After getting into the room I could not see the lake, as a matter of fact I would have needed to be at least 3-4 stories higher to do so. After being lied to so boldfaced during check in and placed into a smoking room which my girlfriend had problems with it really kind of spoiled my trip. I have overlooked a lot of things at different hotels and still gave good reviews but I cannot stand to be lied to.”

- Best front desk staff of any hotel of any star rating!
- Wireless internet was not working the first night.
“The hotel was fine. The room was a smoking room. That's not the hotel's fault.”

- Location.
- I have to sleep on floor! No extra beds, no pillows no nothing.
“I ask three times extra bed, pillows, blankets and finally 10pm they bring one (1) blanket for me. Definitely this is not family hotel. I sleep on floor and my wife and two kids sleep on bed. I'm still quite upset that hotel and hotel staff just smiling but nothing really happened.”

- Free upgrade and convenience.
- Just average.
“Hotel was perfectly located for the event I was attending close to Millennium Park. The parking garage was full however so I had to park in a garage a few blocks away - not a big deal. The room was a little small. I enjoyed the staff and spent little time in the room.”

- Housekeeper was friendly.
- Only one person at front desk the entire time and always very rude.
“For the amount of money paid, I expected much better service. The front desk staff was rude and belligerent; especially to the foreign travelers we witnessed who had a hard time explaining themselves. The staff behind the counter was rude to everyone, and we had to wait 20 minutes each time for a bellman to show up for our luggage. Never again will we stay at this Best Western.”
