• The location was close to the conference I was attending and to nearby restaurants.
• The room was tiny and the heating/cooling system didn't work.

“For people interested in a cheap hotel in downtown Chicago, it was great. The hotel staff was friendly and the room was clean. There were no extra amenities, and we could hear lots of things from other rooms, but it wasn't too bad.”

• Great location to soldier field, aquarium, planetarium,etc.
• Had to pay for internet access even as a guest. Rooms were very small.

“This hotel is great for the price you pay, especially considering the central location to many tourist attractions. The room was very small (we had 2 beds), and we had to pay for internet access even though we were guests. Good for business travelers,anyone on a budget, or anyone traveling alone, but I wouldn't recommend this as a place to stay for families.”

• Location.
• Needs renovation.

“Excellent location and decent service, but nothing else is above average. Hotel needs a renovation badly. TV needed to be turned on manually. Bathroom sink is tiny and the bathroom fan was not very powerful.”

• Spacious, clean, great view, safe.
• Staff was a little rude and not friendly, the concierge area was always busy and crowded.

• It was very close to many attractions.
• Our first room was totally unacceptable: dirty, loud, not maintained.

“Our room was the size of a matchbox, was very dirty (chewed gum on sink, splattered who-knows-what all over bathroom, mold in shower, stinky carpet), the view was directly into someone's apartment, and there was construction going on right outside our window. It was so loud that we literally could not hold a conversation, let alone sleep. We called the front desk around 9:30 pm and asked for another room. They immediately moved us to a room that was twice the size, clean and totally remodeled. We were quite confused as to why they put us in such a hideous room when there was a perfectly acceptable one right down the hall. As far as friendliness goes, they were lukewarm at best.”

• A cleaning lady entered my room despite my do not disturb sign and yelled at me to get out, while I was in the shower no less.

“I will never stay in a Travelodge again. I have never been so humiliated than when a cleaning lady yelled at me while I was in the shower to get out of the room so she could clean it.”

• The staff was very helpful and friendly.
• Small almost shabby rooms.

“Friendly helpful staff but poor qualify in the rooms. Large window air conditioner units protruding from wall, right next to the bed is a hazard. Appeared shower was new but walls needed a fresh coat of paint.”

• Close to Downtown Chicago convenient.
• Parking situation was horrible vehicles not accessible, very understaffed parking attendants.

“Hotel was alright, elevators slow, Parking garage a nightmare watch the doors on the rooms they do not always completely close and a stranger walked right into my room at 2:30 in the morning luckily nothing was taken and we were not harmed just make sure the doors completely close and clasp tightly.”

• It is inexpensive, relatively clean, conveniently located and staffed by friendly, helpful people.
• The coffee pot in the room had not been washed out.

“I have stayed at an estimated 20 different hotels in Chicago, and this is by far the worst that I've seen. The room was tiny and very dirty. I was told that it was renovated, but only the bathroom was and it was still dirty. The elevator took about 7 minutes to arrive to the sixth floor. Bottom line is that it was way over-priced.”

• The hotel staff was awesome, it was near my concert venue.
• The room's are kind of blah.

“This was a nice place to sleep at, after a long day in the city. The staff was very friendly. I just don't think the price was worth it. The rooms are nothing special. (The view is of the parking garage!).”

• To far away from where we wanted to be and to noisy outside (located by train track).

• Great location. Accessible to Michigan Avenue shops, food, sears tower, subway.
• The hotel employee made copy of all the guests drivers license/ID and said that they keep it in their file at the front desk.

“The hotel employee at the front desk made copy of all the guests, drivers license/ID and said that they need it because of "fire marshal" requiring it. At checkout time, I requested to have the copy of my driver' license back, not feeling comfortable, especially with all the ID theft out there. The person at the front desk didn't want to. He said they keep/store copies of all the guest's ID for their records, stored in a binder in the front desk. I don't see the reason they need to keep everybody's ID once the guest has checkout. I travel very frequently and have stayed in all classes of hotels. I have never come across a hotel that did that.”

• Cigarette smoke seeping in from an adjacent room.

• The friendly and helpful staff along with the great location of the hotel.
• The extra blankets were covered in human hairs and we took them off the beds, but housekeeping didn't remove them like we asked.

“The hotel was in a great location for all the sights our family wanted to see and at an affordable price with secure and clean rooms. The staff was friendly and helpful. We were very happy with our stay!”

“This hotel would not be out of place in a third world country. The room was small, dark, and had only one small bed. The entire place smelled of rotten food, the elevators were ancient; there were loose wires in the hallway. Our friends stayed at a nice.”

• Parking was attached to the hotel and was competitively priced.
• Outside of windows excessively dirty and the walls were extremely thin so it was loud in the rooms.

“I needed to stay in Chicago on short notice and this was the only place I could find. It was just painted and all new beds which were actually comfortable, but the train was loud right outside the window and the walls were so thin I could hear everything said in the next room. The front desk was not friendly or helpful but the bell captain was and the maids. I will not say here again even though the location was great.”

• The location was very nice and the Thai restaurant in the hotel was good.
• The wake up call didn't work making us late. I left my shoe in the hotel room and it was very cumbersome system to get it back.

“It was just okay. It's good to be so close to the park and the easy access to the drive makes a quick departure to points south and east.”

• Location is two blocks from Red Line.
• The front desk will photo copy your passport and ID.

“The desk staff will copy your ID including passports. Photocopying identification in any manner has been illegal, especially passports. The policy to photocopy everyone's ID is a serious implication of identity theft. I believe this hotel is no the up.”

• Size of room, cost of parking and lot not open until 5 am.

“Clean but our room barely fit a full size bed. Window looked over the interior of ancient hotel. Room was next to fire escape door, which was opened when we arrived. Restaurant seemed nice and food was good. Parking below hotel not in use so we had to use the lot across the street, which was fine but it opened later than we wished to leave.”

• They did not use fitted sheets on the mattress, just a flat one. It was always twisted around by morning. Very uncomfortable.

“The hotel was great in that it is in walking distance of the museums in Grant Park (which was my goal w/ my grandson) and the Millennium Park; food in the little diner downstairs was poor and the room a little dingy  i.e. badly stained rug but overall was comfortable and safe for the budget traveler.”

• Location, although lengthy, was walking distance to the shopping strip.
• Didn't like the condition of the hotel. Needs to be remodeled. Could be a lot cleaner.

“This room could have been a lot cleaner. We had a bad experience and received no help from the front desk. For the price I paid I was expecting a 1-star hotel and I def. got one. I might stay here again only if the prices are dirt cheap but would not likely recommend it to anyone any of my friends because of the condition it is in. I have mixed feelings.”
