• Excellent location, very helpful staff, rooms were above standard.
• Bartender at the lounge never seemed to be around.

“I would stay at this hotel again. Of course price was wonderful for a downtown Chicago hotel, but we were in a great location, rooms were clean and comfortable. One of our rooms was for our son who lives in Arizona and the staff was nice enough to get the rooms next to each other. I believe the Courtyard should be at least a 3-star hotel.”

• Perfectly clean and well maintained. Dining nearby. Business center with 2 computers. Train stops an easy walk.
• Noise, from the room cooling system and from the street (including the nearby fire station) disrupted sleep many times.

“This was a great convenient location, attractive large room with sofa, nearby shopping and train access. The beds are comfortable; the blinds on the window truly blocked the street lights (a rarity). The coffeemaker in room had real cream ad 2 kinds of tea! My only real complaint was from noisy heating/cooling unit as it cycled on & off, and street noise (even on the 12th floor) which disrupted sleep enough to downgrade my room comfort rating.”

• Nothing at all constant construction, no peace and quiet, terrible staff.
• It wasn't a hotel it was a construction site.

“I'm sure this hotel will be wonderful when the renovations are completed, but in the mean time your staying in a construction site. Simply awful conditions and rude staff.”

• Very nice & clean with a friendly staff, the restaurant not so friendly.
• $41.00 per day parking! There's a parking garage less than a 1/4 mile and its $12.00 a day. That's what we used.

“It's a very nice hotel, I think it should be rated more than 2 1/2 stars. I would love to stay there again! The staff is so nice and friendly, not to mention helpful. The location was perfect for what we wanted and the hotel over all was very, very clean, which to me & my family is the most important.”

• The overall appeal of the room felt more casual than like a hotel.
• I did not like the fact that the windows in the room did not open.

“The Marriot Residence Inn on Hubbard St. made for a wonderful stay in Chicago; not too luxurious and not too frugal at all. It was just right, or rather, it was very special. Proximity to downtown and public transportation made my stay in Chicago also very easy.”

“I will not go there again because many other hotels in the area do not charge extra for parking and I paid $81 plus tips for two nights of parking and that was not a fair price in my opinion.”

• Parking was expensive, but it's Chicago, so I guess that's to be expected.

• The water was shut off for the first day and was not told about it. Remote did not work to TV. Parking was awful and expensive.

• Window looked out to brick building next door. It okay though.

“Great location. We walked to our restaurant, to church the next morning, and to our favorite bar 10 blocks away. Didn't spend money on cab rides because of location. Covered self-parking garage right next door, so no spending of money on Valet. No problem with services. Had a Starbucks right in the lobby. Loved it. Would love to stay there again.”

• I liked the sofa bed that was provided in the room w/o request.
• We were on a no-smoking floor and I could smell smoke wafting from hallway.

“Great location, reasonably quick elevators, great room, clean, nice restaurant. Gets less than top marks because front desk was unresponsive (didn't answer the phone?) And bell/valet was less than top notch. Will probably stay there again however.”

• It was a great location, love the fact that there was a Starbuck in the lobby, trains and shopping were in walking distance.
• I think the housekeeping department is under staffed. Between 10 a.m. -2 p.m. we saw the same trays and glasses still on the hall floor.

“Friendly staff, but very understaffed housekeeping, and maintenance department. Our tub was clogged, and we left out for breakfast at 10 a.m. and saw the same breakfast trays and glasses still on the floor in the hall from other guests when we came back to the hotel around 2 p.m. Our room was untouched as it needed to be refreshed when the young lady finally came around we were like forget it we just want clean towels.”

• The location was perfect!
• Our view wasn't the most appealing.

“Check in and check out was very fast. The staff seemed friendly and helpful if needed. The location was perfect due to the fact it was three blocks within walking distance from the Magnificent Mile. The room was very nice and a bit more then what we had expected. The room view wasn't the greatest but we weren't in the room too often for that to be a real bother. There was no continental breakfast offered which was a disappointment and the room service expense for breakfast was a little high as well as the prices in their lobby store. Overall I would stay at this hotel again in the future.”

• The bed was extremely comfortable and the room was very clean, also the staff was very helpful and friendly.
• The under window heating/cooling unit was "cheap"; difficult to find a good temperature because there was no thermostat to set for the room.

“The hotel met most of my expectations. It was a great price for the location and quality. The beds and pillows were very comfortable, I enjoyed the "down like" comforters that were provided. I did not like the under window heating unit; it was difficult to find a happy medium for the temperature; it either blew warm air or cold air on you when it was running. It would have been much nicer had there been a thermostat to set. We also were not able to easily access the internet from either of two computers, so we eventually gave up. Otherwise, the location was great and the staff was very friendly and helpful with all of our needs; the room was clean and comfortable. I would stay at this hotel again in the future.”

• Bell man was very helpful.
• Front desk help not very professional, put our group on two different floors, had friends wanting to stay at hotel but could not get an extra room.

“I was not real impressed with front desk help, set us up on two different floors at first and then I had some out of town guest that wanted to stay at our hotel but front desk lady would not rent them a room at our rate for the night so they stayed at another hotel near bye. Note: there were all kinds of rooms available thought that was a bad call.”

“I had originally tried to get into the Best Western River North because it has free parking; however, a nonsmoking room was not available. I was pleasantly surprised to find a Marriott so close to the area I wanted to visit and a much better experience than my first choice.”

• My stay was far more then I expected. The staff was wonderful. It was the best nights sleep I've gotten in weeks, the bed was very comfortable.
• It didn't have free breakfast.

“My experience at this hotel was great! The service was wonderful. Very friendly staff. The location was perfect. The bed was the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. It should have a higher star rating. It far exceeded my expectations.”

• Parking not included and I called at 1:00pm, was told.

“.I was told, when I called at 1:00pm that my room was available so when I arrived at 2pm they told me that it was no longer available and that I should return at 4pm (4pm was the original schedule time for check in) that was my only complaint. Otherwise, I would definitely stay at this hotel again.”

“We didn't check in till about 2am or a bit later. There were 2 people at the front desk. I walked up to the one guy that wasn't on the phone and he pointed to the guy on the phone. So I waited for him to get off the phone & he checked me in. I requested 2 double beds.”

“We got to this hotel and were greeted by the valet. I asked how much the valet was and he told me it was only $41/night and so I asked him how much the overnight parking was in the self parking garage and his said it was basically the same. I had to press him for the amount it really was and he told me it was $37/night. We decided to go with the self parking to save money and we parked our car there for 2 full days and walked everywhere we needed to go to with no problem. For 48 hours of parking it ended up costing $45 (basically what one night would have cost at the valet parking) and it's right across the street from the hotel, no big deal. Anyway, the room was really nice. It's just what you learn to expect from a Courtyard. It was a little small but the bed was so comfortable and they have 3 different kinds of pillows (just like the 3 little bears) with one hard, one soft and one right in between. No need to bring your own pillow unless you have a germ fear. The room was really very clean. I didn't look out at the view so I wouldn't be able to tell you what that was like but I know that the location was perfect! It was a few blocks away from Michigan Ave and all of the shopping but right in the middle of all of the restaurants and night life. I would very much recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in the heart of Chicago! Marriott never lets me down!”
