• Gorgeous, historic building preserved and treasured.

“For the architecture buff (Daniel Burnham!) and Art Institute visitor (walking distance to Millenium Park and museum.) Immaculate room, excellent amenities, professional staff with warmth and friendliness, and view of the lake from our room!”

• Staff was EXTREMELY accommodating.

“The staff was very helpful making sure our needs were met. On several occasions they helped us get a more suitable room. At first we were in a King bed room, but needed 2 doubles. They had no more doubles, so they gave us a free upgrade to a suite, which had more room. Then, when a double opened up, they moved us there. Everyone was great!”

“Unfortunately, I am unable to provide a review of the Hotel Burn ham in Chicago. When we went to check-in, we were informed that we were moved to the Hotel Allegro (a few blocks away and a sister property)because the Hotel Burnham was overbooked. Thus, we stayed at the Hotel Allegro in Chicago.”

• Friendliest staff ever, by far. Every person we met was great.
• Can hear a fair amount of street noise in your room.

“LOVE this hotel. From now on, when I'm in Chicago this is my place. It’s an older hotel, and quirky boutiquey, and I mean that in a good way. The room was fabulous. My 8 year old walked into our room and said, Fancy! The decor and furnishing are great. I was concerned when I found out it was pet-friendly, but I never saw, heard, or smelled a pet the entire stay. And I can't say enough about how friendly and helpful the staff is. Do yourself a favor and stay at this hotel.”

“Clean hotel with a friendly staff. Room was small with a queen sized bed. There was a safe for valuable which was a in the lobby for a couple of hours in the morning and wine/cheese in early evening.”

“The Burnham hotel is one of my favorite hotels in the U.S. The building is a wonderful landmark designed by my favorite architect. The location is wonderful, near Grant Park, the Art Institute, the aquarium, and much more. The hotel staff gets 5 stars!”

“The Hotel Burnham is a lovely boutique hotel with a great staff, excellent service, great rooms. The hotel has a very hip and intimate feel. The in-house restaurant was delicious, but plan on it for a special night out as the main entrées start around 25, but include things like duck in a fig reduction served with garlic greens and sweet mashed potatoes.”

• Great location for the Thanksgiving Parade.
• The room, adjacent to mine, had a barking dog.

“The hotel was perfectly located for the parade and shopping. The staff was friendly and the old romantic charm of the hotel was enjoyable; the barking dog in the room next to mine was not. Pets should only be allowed on one floor. I listened to a barking dog from the time I checked in to the time I checked out.”

• Location, romantic, rooms redone beautifuly, staff very gracious, small but nice workout facility.
• Parking $42 a night!, Construction nearby so suggest upper floors, bathrooms very small.

“The Burnham is located just across from Macy's in downtown Chicago and only two blocks from Millinieum Park. Shopping, dinning are all around so it is a great area to be in if you are looking to be close enough, yet just far enough away from the bussiness of Miracle Mile. My girlfriend loved the room and decor. It was worth every dollar but watch out for parking charge, ouch!”

• Unique older building with character.

“Our room was a perfect large corner room with a great view. 3 large windows were overlooking State St. and a view of the lake. Bed was extremely comfortable. Only minor drawback was a small bathroom, but we had a large sitting room instead. Overall, this hotel was a great experience!”

• Hotel was in a great location, walking distance to most locations.
• Parking fees of $35 per night, not enough rooms with 2 beds.

“Hotel Burnham is in a fantastic location, with walking distance to the park, pier, fields, and train. Hotel doesn't offer enough rooms with 2 beds, so traveling with family is forewarned. One the flip side and great place for a romantic get-away.”

• The service was outstanding. It was well worth the money.
• The street approach to the hotel ( city's problem not hotels however).

“This is a wonderful historic hotel in the heart of Chicago's Loop close to everything. Once the car is parked it is possible to take public transportation to whatever your heart desires to do. The lake and park is close enough to walk as are the theatres. Outstanding weekend in an awaesome place.”

• The entire staff at the Burnham was top notch. Best I've had.
• No pool on-site.

“The Burnham is in a great central downtown location. It offers stunning architecture with an historical feel. The staff treated us like family from check-in to check-out. One gentleman even went out of his way to guide us through the city while he was off the clock.”

“The Burnham is in a great location with staff that makes you feel like you are at home. It is located near Millennium Park and lots of shopping opportunities are nearby. The room was a little small but was very comfortable with large windows. We would stay there again.”

• Beautiful, historic hotel.
• Construction on street below made for a noisy night. (I realize this is temporary). Otherwise, no downside.

“Beautiful, historic hotel. Very helpful, friendly staff. Very comfortable rooms with equally comfortable beds. Close to Michigan Avenue and trains. Felt safe late at night walking to hotel. Loved the old fashioned, brass keys. Nice to have interesting history of hotel posted in lobby. Would definitely recommend this hotel.”

• The location is not bad, but with all the construction it made finding things very hard.
• Very small room. The table was right in front of the TV (one foot to be exact). Small bathroom with no vent, made the room hot.

“This hotel is located in a good location for shopping. If you are interested in an old buildings turned into hotels, then this could be your place. Very small rooms that had very few amenities. A bed with a table one foot in front of the TV and a small bathroom with no vent. Nice decor. Would not recommend this hotel.”

• The staff is beyond compare; every single one of them is friendly, knowledgeable and just wonderful! A+.
• Construction outside our window was 24/7 and loud! Once this is done, it will be a wonderful place to stay.

“Hotel Burnham is a gem. Great old charm with all the modern conveniences. Best feature is the warm, welcoming staff. They must really love their jobs, because every single one of them is smiling, helpful, sincere, and quick to respond. If they say they will send up an extra pillow, someone is knocking on your door within 5 minutes. Their smiles are contagious and make the guests feel happy and pampered, which is as it should be, and yet is a rare find anymore. The construction across the street was loud, but they were good about telling us ahead of time, so I brought a fan and some ear plugs, and that made it pretty tolerable. My 3-yr old son thought the construction show outside our window was the best part of his trip to Chicago! Once the construction is over, Hotel Burnham is a must-stay in my book.”

• Room was clean and high ceilings were nice.
• Loud construction was going on all night right outside hotel and small room.

“The room despite being very nice, clean, was quite small and late night construction out of the hotel's control forced us to switch rooms at night, but both rooms, were very clean and the high ceilings had a very good effect on making the room feel bigger than it was. If the construction had not been going on, we would have been extremely happy with everything, because everything else was fantastic.”
