“Basic, but practical space with lots of room, even a small refrigerator. great even for small team meeting, because personal stuff can be out of sight very easily (thanks to the extra separation between work and sleep area). convenient location. friendly staff, if they change the fixtures, flooring and furniture I'll give them even higher rating.”

“ A bit shabby, but very convenient. Breakfast was great and a terrific value. However, room was very noisy. Garbage trucks began pickup around 1:00 AM and continued all night. ”

• Manager evening get together and the morning breakfast were great.
• Communication failure / bed accomodations were terrible.

“Very pleased with most of our stay. But the hotel could not assist me with information about bed arrangement until we arrived on site. Also, the pull out couch mattress was like a bedspread and not a mattress. House keeping answer was just throw another mattress on the bed. There there was no place to sit because we could not fold up the bed. Problem after problem I had to resolve.”

• We were unable to use the cleaning services as the time they came by was not conducive to our plans.

• Excellent location, restaurants and shops very close by, excellent breakfast buffet saved time.
• The expensive parking --cost more to park the car than it did to rent it.

“A good choice for families. The breakfast buffet, with cooked-to-order omelets, was very nice and served with real dishes and flatware, not plastic. The location was excellent and it was very easy to get back onto the freeway to the airport. A nearby grocery store would make it easy for a family to have a snack or light meal in the suite. There was a microwave and refrigerator, as well as a dining table and four chairs. The table did double-duty as a desk.”

• Center of Downtown Chicago hustle and bustle. Great restaurants in walking distance in each direction.
• The staff could have been more friendly overall. There were some overly great and others unconcerned.

• It has a mini-fridge and microwave. Great!

“This is a great hotel especially if you're staying for more than a few days. No, you don't get the same feeling as cute little boutique hotels, but the room was spacious, clean, had nice amenities, and was a comfortable place to relax after a day of sightseeing.”

• I loved the breakfast and the open area inside the hotel.
• The manager at the desk treated me poorly when I checked out.

“The help at this hotel was very friendly, the person who carried our luggage, parked our car, and cooked the short order breakfast. We tipped most of them most of the time. The actual staff at the counter was OK. When checking in they were good, however, when checking out I had the most rude person ever. I tried to pay my parking the way the valet told me to the night before and the manager was rude. None else was around and I was not dressed up at the time, I think that is why. It was pretty early in the morning and I was trying to check out so I could drive home. the valet gave me an hourly parking ticket since I brought my car in so late and was leaving within 12 hours. Even though it meant I would have to stop at the counter before leaving, I did it since it would save me over $15.00. The manager told me I had to pay the $44 overnight fee, which was fine. I tried to tell the manager that I didn't mind paying that, if that was the policy, but that they should notify the valet employees so that everyone could deliver the same information to the guests. The manager acted very unprofessionally and was rude. I looked at her name tag so that I could complain to the manager, then I read the sign posted with the manager's name, and it was hers! I told her I had had a wonderful stay for four nights at that hotel, and I didn't want to leave arguing. I didn't mind paying the extra money, that wasn't a big deal, but that the valet had actually taken my valet ticket back from me and gave me a white hourly ticket. Now I'm getting a story from her that that isn't allowed. It was very frustrating!”

• Close to all downtown attractions!
• Getting the car from valet to return home was a little difficult, just give a little extra time.

“Locations is great, restaurant is above average, the free breakfast was better then most I have paid for. The room was large enough for the wife and I to have our own king sized bed and the kid slept on the sofa bed and had a great time.”

• The room was spacious.
• Exercise room had damaged equipment, no thermostat in the room.

“Overall I am not particularly pleased. I attempted to get a workout in the first day I was at the hotel, and the exercise bike was malfunctioning as a result of damage. I called maintenance and 20 minutes later someone arrived. Unable to fix the machine, he left and brought back another individual who rather than fix the machine. Additionally, there was no thermostat in my room, or if it was there I could not find it and when I called the front desk to ask, the phone just rang 8+ times before I gave up. Even though I had stayed in a non smoking room, I discovered on Friday that the duvet cover on my bed had a cigarette burn/hole in it! Two days after I had called regarding the exercise bike, I returned to the exercise room to find that the machine still had not been fixed. Lastly, I got a message the day I left that a bracelet had been found in my room, was removed from my room, and I could only have it back if I gave a detailed description of the item. I am male, I don't wear bracelets, but I do share bags/luggage with my girlfriend. How am I supposed to know if one of her things fell out of my bag, and how am I supposed to provide a description? When I tried to explain that, I got attitude from the security people. Perfect ending to a terrible stay.”

• The location in the city, and the set up as suites.
• Noise of the waterfalls.

“The staff at the valet parking were most helpful and patient, after checking in our car, we proceeded to the hotel lobby and were greeted by a warm member. The rooms were clean and roomy, beds and pillows very comfortable. We loved the breakfast, which was provided free! An excellent experience and one that I have shared with many friends.”

• Beautiful. Great location. Very clean and comfortable rooms. Great staff, will definitely stay again.
• Parking price, I still don't understand why in Chicago you have to pay for parking at the hotel you are paying to stay at.

“Hotel was great! The complimentary breakfast was delicious and far beyond any hotel breakfast I have ever seen, the managers cocktail party (which is free) every night was a wonderful treat. The staff was very courteous and helpful. The hotel itself was immaculate with very comfortable beds. Would recommend highly and I will definitely be staying again!”

“Walking distance or short cab ride from many restaurants. Clean, comfortable room with internet access, refrigerator, working space, flat screen TV. Restaurant and bar in hotel. Shower water was lukewarm. Concierge was helpful getting reservation at an Italian restaurant across the street.”

• Have to pay to watch TV. Valet price is high.

“Excellent choice for a weekend getaway or business trip. Good (free) breakfast. Room was very spacious, clean and with all modern amenities. Sheets were clean and bed was very relaxing. Close to everything downtown.”

• There happened to be a lot of large groups there that weekend.

“Embassy Suites are always nice from the stand point: we don't have to bundle everyone up and go in search of breakfast in the morning. However, there's always a line (even at 7:30 in the morning), but the food here was well worth it. The staff was also very attentive.”

• Sofa bed was horrible - staff was not willing to do anything about it.

“Hotel generally within walking distances to major attractions. Clean, attractive rooms. Furniture outdated. Would not recommend as a romantic get away. Adequately met needs except sofa bed should be taken out and destroyed. For what is suppose to be an upscale hotel, fell very short on meeting expectations.”

• Amenities! Pool in Chicago! Free drinks and big breakfast, huge rooms.

“The room was HUGE, and there was a pool (which you rarely find in Chi). They had free drinks and appetizers from 5:30 - 7:30pm, and a HUGE breakfast spread in the morning until 10:30am. Couldn't have been happier with the experience.”

• Amenities, size of suites, excellent for families.
• Close to half-way house - some seedy characters around.

“Embassy Suites offers large size suites with separate rooms, including bedroom and living room type area, complete with microwave, refrigerator. The hotel also features an indoor pool and exercise area. These along with complimentary full-menu breakfast buffet, including omelet, and an early evening cocktail/hors d'oevres hour make it a good choice for families who wish to stay near the Gold Coast area and Navy Pier.”

• Convenience of the location.
• Customer service - from the valet company to the front desk staff and the housekeeping staff treated people like they couldn't be bothered with you.

• Location, is fantastic! Great shopping, restaurants, coffee, & nightlife, close!
• What's not to like?

“Can't say enough. Went for a girls trip for shopping and cubs game. It was great. It just had everything and it was in the middle of all my favorites. I looked out my window to The Red Headed Piano Bar, which is our favorite. Grand Lux a few block away, Big Bowl a block, Shaw's Oyster bar 5 blocks, Chicago pizza close depending on which place you want. Shopping everywhere and only a $13 cab ride to Wrigley Field. Plus, throw in the comp cocktail hour and breakfast, which we didn't make it up for, but nice option. Staff is wonderful and friendly. Everyone eager to give advice as best places to go. Couldn't have been better.”

• I did not like the cost of parking.

“My son and I were so excited when we pulled up to the hotel, we were glad to see that it was indeed a fine establishment. Once we entered the foyer he was even more excited by the water fall and once again upon our entrance and exit off the elevator. By far my son thinks this hotel was better than our last hotel visit to Columbus, OH the Doubletree. I agree.”

• Concierge knew very little about public transit systems.

“The location of the hotel is excellent. It is within walking distance of many Chicago landmarks and others are easy to reach by bus or cab. The rooms are large and beds are comfortable. There are numerous good restaurants close by. The breakfast was outstanding and included with room. I couldn't believe there was also a pleasant happy hour every afternoon. Unless you want really fancy, this hotel should suit you.”
