• One valet was a little rude, but no other complaints.

• The front desk receptionist ignored me, completely when I walked in.

• Great breakfast ! great manager's reception - open bar for 1 1/2 hours.
• They did not replace the complementary shampoo after I used it.

“Overall I loved the hotel, perfect location - 2 blocks from mag mile, close walk to subway, clubs and food. But far enough away that we could sleep soundly at night. The continental breakfast was the best I've ever had, with gourmet coffee, Danish (try the cheese one), croissants, and muffins and fruit! The nightly manager's reception, with free appetizers and drinks, was a great way to meet other travelers and the free drinks was a nice surprise!! The room and washroom were very nicely decorated, albeit a little small. I would definitely come back and recommend the hotel to other people!”

• Friendly staff, great location, great exercise room, and nice rooms.
• Need some healthier items with breakfast buffet. Bagels would be nice. Too much of sweet roll variety.

“Great centralized location just off State Street and just north of the river. Employees were very friendly and helpful nice rooms. Would of preferred some healthier items on breakfast buffet, although they did have apples, bananas, and oranges. Bagels would of been a good choice, or cereal. Very nice 24 hour workout room and business center. They even provided umbrellas and shaving cream without charge or question.”

Would highly recommend and would love to stay again.”

• Great location to theater, restaurants. Loved the continental breakfast on every floor every morning.
• Hotel did not have a lobby area bar or lounge where you could just relax with a drink after a long day.

• Nicely decorated rooms - very tasteful.
• Not a big hotel - no big lobbies/restaurants built into it.

“The Amalfi is a nice hotel with well decorated rooms and thoughtful touches. Excellent breakfast buffet, etc. Good location across from Harry Carry's. It doesn't have a great lobby for entertaining, etc. So it lacks some of the glamour of a place like the Palmer House Hilton. A solid 3-star selection that won't disappoint.”

• Carpet in our room was a little stained.

“Our stay at the Amalfi was wonderful. Check in was smooth and easy. The rooms are large and comfortable. Wireless Internet throughout the hotel. Great complimentary happy hour with Italian meats, cheeses, olives and your choice of wine, beer, or their own concoction, the Amafitini. The staff at the Happy Hour could not have been nicer! Complimentary continental breakfast in the AM with delicious croissants and sweet rolls and Harry Caray's Restaurant, a Chicago landmark, is right across the street from the front door!!”

• Breakfast was included and was served on each floor so you could go out and get breakfast and take it back to your room in your robe.
• Room was a little small.

• The location was within walking distance of many tourist sites.
• There was nothing not to like.

• The location of this Hotel is excellent for those wishing to be within short walking distance of Michigan Avenue.
• This Hotel charges $40 per night extra for a room with 2 queen beds as opposed to 1 king bed.

“The Hotel Amalfi is a nice hotel located in close proximity to both the downtown business and theaters districts as well as the shopping on Michigan Avenue. The rooms are nicely appointed and clean. The Hotel offers a complimentary breakfast and happy hour on each floor every day. I would recommend this hotel to those doing both business and leisure traveling.”

“I was very pleasantly surprised by this hotel. The staff was very friendly and efficient. The rooms were clean and comfortable. A number of little extras made the stay special (bathroom amenities, magazines, chocolates, etc.)”

• Concierge never followed threw on requests for taxi

“I requested a taxi from the front desk and "Sherrie" never called for a taxi nor did she inform the doorman to call for the taxi. We never got the "minivan" taxi to take us to the airport and instead had to take two separate taxis. Very disappointing!!!! Otherwise our stay was very nice.”

• A little removed from the most "happening" area. Loud music and no staff dress code in the lobby.

• Location to downtown attractions and transit system was excellent. Could walk most of the time.
• Did not have a lounge or restaurant.

“Services were good but the phone did not work in my room. Found out they had been out on the whole floor for a couple of days. Had to go downstairs to order room service, call for my car. Food service was excellent, once you got in touch with them.”

• Not a large hotel but very boutique like. Rooms were updated and clean. Beds were comfy. Continental Breakfast setup was nice. Great Location.

• We were booked into a handicapped access. Room, therefore the bathroom did not meet my needs. No counter space.

“The location of this hotel was great. After traveling to Chicago twice a year for years now, this was by far the best deal. Excellent location, staff was more than friendly and helpful, parking alternatives were close by, the free breakfast and managers cocktail hour was a surprising bonus! Clean, friendly, and wonderful service.”

• The location, the staff, the cocktail hour, great drinks and hordouves. The continental breakfast was very good and always was maintained.
• Needed better lighting. Our room was above a alley and we heard the trash pick up every early morning.

“I would definitely come again. The hotel staff was very pleasant and not stuffy. The location is great. Great modern decor in rooms and lobby. A small vase with a fresh flower would have made the room a bit more welcoming. Can't beat the cocktail hour and morning breakfast, they were both set up and maintained nicely. Classy but not stuffy.”

“This hotel is in a great park of Chicago, close to great shopping and many restaurants. The room was not large but the bed was very comfortable and the bathrooms are very nice. The best thing about the hotel was the continental breakfast. Each floor has its own buffet that juice, sweet rolls, pastries, muffins, coffee, tea and more.”

“Everyone at the hotel was very nice. They made our dinner reservations for us every night and then even called us to confirm. They were always there to open the door and greet us. They even helped my daughter to celebrate her Birthday by putting cookies and milk in the room for her.”

• I really liked how friendly and helpful the Valet parking staff was.
• Room was smaller than average.

“Great location within 20 minutes walking distance to everything. The free Navy Pier trolley stop is just two blocks away. There is a self park garage on the corner, saved us lots of money for parking. A very modern style hotel. The beds are very comfortable. I loved the fact that there are two showerheads in the shower. The breakfast was very sweet. The staff was very friendly and helpful.”

• The hotel had been recently modernized. Having the beds turned down in the evening was a nice touch.
• Not much of a view.

“This hotel far exceeded my expectations. I have traveled extensively for work and stayed at the major chains (Hyatt, Marriot) and several of the boutique type hotels in the states and Europe. This hotel was on par with the best I had visited. The bed was unbelievably comfortable and the double head shower was great!!! Really good amenities - Aveda products in the bath, robe, slippers, turndown service with Ghiradelli chocholate. The hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. The continental breakfast on every floor is a nice touch in the morning. I have a seminar in Chicago in a few weeks and I'm going to book this hotel directly. Can't wait to go back!”

• Front entrance is not readily apparent.

“The room and hotel services, the cocktail hour and continental breakfast are all quite good. The staff is quite helpful and the hotel has a contemporary euro feel to it. The only drawback is that the front entrance does not stand out...and the big banners are on the end of the building where there are no entrances. Once found it is quite a nice location.”

“My wife and I were pleasantly surprised with our stay at Amalfi. Neither of us had heard of the hotel. Any fears we may have had were quickly silenced from the first moment we pulled up in front of the hotel. The staff that greeted us were extremely pleasant and helpful. We could not have enjoyed our experience more. We have already recommended this hotel to all our friends. ”
