• Loved everything about it.
• No restaurant on site.

“This hotel exceeded my expectation. The hotel staff was friendly from the minute I walked in. I was allowed to check in earlier than planned because my flight arrived in the morning. The friendliness continued throughout the entire stay. The complimentary happy hour from 5-7 was a nice bonus as well as the pastries and coffee in the morning. Would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends and family. I hope to stay there again.”

• Very comfortable bed and pillows!
• Cocktail hour was in too small a space - overcrowded.

“We loved this hotel and would definitely be back. The beds and pillows were the best! The room was very clean, everything was top notch from the shower fixture to the linens. We loved having coffee available on every floor, and we loved the free cocktail hour except for the fact that it was in a small room and was way too crowded.”

• Great location. Attractive, upscale interiors and furnishings.
• Bedding was nice, but could have used a more plush comforter
  and duvet.

• Fabulous location in downtown Chicago.
• Room view looked out at an old building.

“This is a gem in downtown Chicago. Convenient to restaurants and a short walk from Michigan Avenue. Very clean and contemporary with outstanding amenities, including a well equipped exercise room and continental breakfast. Definitely exceeded my expectations.”

• The room and hotel were exceptionally clean.
• We registered for a king bed. The day before I even called to confirm this. When we got to the hotel, they said they had no kings available.

“Very convenient to all the Downtown amenities. I would definitely recommend it for business travelers and those staying just to see the Chicago sights. Not every child friendly (doesn't have a pool, more upscale style). The breakfast buffet was wonderful!”

• Breakfast bar on each floor, drinks & food from 5:30 - 7 daily newspapers.
• No view.

“I have stayed at this hotel many times. The staff meets whatever you need have. Check in was fast. Love the morning breakfast bar on each floor - I wear my robe to get food to bring to my room. The drinks and Italian snacks are really upscale. The hotel is close to everything. Really a great small hotel.”

“This is a centrally located hotel offering comfortable accommodations. A continental breakfast on each floor is an unusual find in Chicago hotels. The staff is very friendly and helpful.”

• The sheets were luxurious. The robe and slippers and turn down service was appreciated.
• I did not like the location or the view from our room. No restaurant in the hotel.

“The hotel was pleasant but off the beaten path. Too far off Michigan Avenue (Magnificent Mile). The hotel only occupies the first 6 floors of the building so there is absolutely no view except the ugly construction site across the street. The room was pleasant but unremarkable and on the small side. I would not choose to stay there again.”

• Cleanliness, Happy Hour, Breakfast selections, friendliness of hotel staff.
• There was 3 of us, we requested 2 beds, the girl said we could only have a king size bed. Actual hotel person served us beautifully when we arrived.

“We loved the location as we like to shop in the loop as well as Michigan Ave. We also went to the theater, which was within walking distance. Good restaurants nearby also. The hotel met our needs very well and except for the one rude person on the phone, I have absolutely no complaints and would stay there again.”

• I liked the breakfast buffet. It was better than I expected.
• The construction across the street was a turn-off. The walk from the hotel to Michigan Ave. Was not pleasant. The hotel borders an iffy neighborhood.

“This hotel offered a free happy hour which was a pleasant surprise. I felt safer having a beer there than in the surrounding neighborhood which seemed kind of sketchy. At night, it was very quiet. That was great too.”

• Valet parking only/no pool.

“We really enjoyed our stay at the Amalfi Hotel. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. It is very conveniently located to everything that we wanted to do. The turn down service and complimentary breakfast was very nice also. We would like to return to this hotel.”

• The beds were very comfy, we all slept well, hotel was clean and tidy an easy walk to shops and restaurants.
• There is no restaurant on premises although there are several close by.

“This hotel is located a few blocks off the beaten path, it is right across the street from Harry Careys restaurant. You can walk to Michigan Avenue and the Magnificent Mile. It is a long walk to Magnificent Mile but we did it! The hotel is clean and comfy. Breakfast outside your door (scones, Danish, fruit, bagels and cream cheese, coffee and juice). There is also a cocktail hour? up on the sixth floor but we did not attend that. The decorating is a bit retro but we loved that.”

“We stopped for 2 nights within a 3 week road trip of America, and it was the best hotel out of 15 hotels and motels visited during our trip because it was clean, quiet, comfortable and compact. Unlike the large "grand" hotels, it was a quick but unhurried trip from the front door to our room. The staff was pleasant and each staff person performed multiple tasks so you could have your questions answered with "one stop".”

“The Amalfi is at a convenient location for getting to places of interest in Chicago. The staff was always friendly and helpful. We loved that a complimentary breakfast of fruit and fresh baked goods was set out on each floor's lobby so that you could get food in your pajamas. The shower was luxurious with two heads. There was bedtime pull-down service, including chocolates on the pillow. ”

• Continental breakfast, we liked the choices of food and beverages as well as the length of time it was available.
• Unexpected extra charge for two beds per room per night.

“The hotel and rooms were clean, well appointed and comfortable. Additionally, we enjoyed the fitness center and continental breakfast. Our only complaint was having to pay an unexpected extra charge ($40.00 per night per room) for two beds instead of one king size bed.”

“This hotel was very nice and it was beautifully furnished in a perfect location to Navy Pier. The free trolley was just around the corner, but we could walk to Navy Pier in 20 minutes. A variety of restaurants and stores were available everywhere we turned. Perfect location.”

• Super comfortable bed, nice sheets, CD/DVD player in room, nice bathroom with great shower, free breakfast on each floor.
• There was only one robe provided for the two of us.

“I had a great experience at the Amalfi Hotel in Chicago. I called ahead to let them know that I was arriving late and I asked that they have a bottle of Asti on ice waiting when we arrived. The staff was very friendly and the location was ideal for what we went to town to enjoy (close to the train to get to the Cubs' game and just a block from The House of Blues. The room was not huge but it was quite comfortable with a very nice pillow-top king-sized bed with super soft sheets. The bathroom was also very nice and well stocked. Overall it was a great trip.”

• Great breakfast ! great manager's reception - open bar for 1 1/2 hours.
• They did not replace the complementary shampoo after I used it.

“Overall I loved the hotel, perfect location - 2 blocks from mag mile, close walk to subway, clubs and food. But far enough away that we could sleep soundly at night. The continental breakfast was the best I've ever had, with gourmet coffee, Danish (try the cheese one), croissants, and muffins and fruit! The nightly manager's reception, with free appetizers and drinks, was a great way to meet other travelers and the free drinks was a nice surprise!! The room and washroom were very nicely decorated, albeit a little small. I would definitely come back and recommend the hotel to other people!”

• Friendly staff, great location, great exercise room, and nice rooms.
• Need some healthier items with breakfast buffet. Bagels would be nice. Too much of sweet roll variety.

“Great centralized location just off State Street and just north of the river. Employees were very friendly and helpful nice rooms. Would of preferred some healthier items on breakfast buffet, although they did have apples, bananas, and oranges. Bagels would of been a good choice, or cereal. Very nice 24 hour workout room and business center. They even provided umbrellas and shaving cream without charge or question.”

• Great location to theater, restaurants. Loved the continental breakfast on every floor every morning.
• Hotel did not have a lobby area bar or lounge where you could just relax with a drink after a long day.

“The Amalfi is a nice hotel with well decorated rooms and thoughtful touches. Excellent breakfast buffet, etc. Good location across from Harry Carry's. It doesn't have a great lobby for entertaining, etc. So it lacks some of the glamour of a place like the Palmer House Hilton. A solid 3-star selection that won't disappoint.”

“Our stay at the Amalfi was wonderful. Check in was smooth and easy. The rooms are large and comfortable. Wireless Internet throughout the hotel. Great complimentary happy hour with Italian meats, cheeses, olives and your choice of wine, beer, or their own concoction, the Amafitini. The staff at the Happy Hour could not have been nicer! Complimentary continental breakfast in the AM with delicious croissants and sweet rolls and Harry Caray's Restaurant, a Chicago landmark, is right across the street from the front door!!”
