• The location is perfect and the rooms are huge!
• 50 bucks for parking.

“The hotel was beautiful and the staff was very courteous. There are cheap room upgrades available to larger suites. The room was gigantic and very modern to include snake skin chairs, marble counter tops, and flat screen HD TV's. Not to mention the French Room - arguably one of the restaurants in the country! Outside of 50 bucks to park, it was fabulous. Would definitely stay here again.”

• Very clean, convenient location, big rooms, friendly staff and

• No pool or hot tub, ugly room decor, no restaurant and the
  parking was too expensive.

“Hotel staff was very friendly, helpful and courteous. Rooms were very big and clean, however decor was ugly. Location was great for shopping and restaurants. For a 4 star it should have had a pool/hot tub, a good restaurant, wireless connection. $49 to park per night way to expensive.”

• Hallways need to be updated (paneling, sconces).

“The Sax Hotel was a very pleasant surprise. I usually stay at the W hotels and Hotel Sax was at that same level in decor, service and entertainment. I will definitely stay here again. Best kept secret in Chicago. Oh, and great location, right off of Michigan, next door to the House of Blues.”

• The tech room was an unexpected bonus & great for my son!
• Hated bathroom. Says pet-friendly, but has nowhere to take pet to bathroom. Parking was not disclosed until I received the unbelievably expensive bill!

“The room was extremely small & bathroom accommodations were 1-2star accommodations. Definitely not 4star. Although they state they are 'pet friendly' I was actually traveling with a service dog, there was no place to take your pet to the bathroom. Was told to use the waist-high planter at a neighboring hotel, where we were scolded yet again. Concierge was very helpful & nice. Tech room was a great bonus, but was made to jump through hoops & feel badly for having my service dog with me in the room. Very disappointed with the parking situation, was not told that I would be charged to park as a guest of the hotel. Signs indicating there was a charge for parking were located in front of a neighboring facility, not the hotel, & no one mentioned I would be charged. I never found out until I received the bill seeing I had been charged $45 for one night's parking the next day! Very upset!”

• The reptile chair in the room

“The staff, hotel and location was very good. Excellent location for those who seek entertainment and want to do more than sit in your room. The room and bath are large & clean. This hotel is for adults. I did not like the reptile chair at all. So, I covered it up. For that reason alone I will not return.”

• Awesome location and great beds
• No turn down service

“Lovely room and fabulous location. Staff was great and we got an excellent room for a Priceline booking. Bathroom was on the smaller side but normal for a city hotel. Room service was fast and the food was excellent and reasonably priced. Only wish---nightly turn down.”

• The hotel bar was very nicely decorated and great ambiance.
• Sub-standard service for this level of hotel, gym was also sub par and there was crud on the wallpaper and hair in the tub.

“Hotel is lovely to look at as long as you don't look too closely. Something dry and splattered was on our wallpaper and the bathroom was moderately clean. The decor is quite nice, very modern and artsy and the location is excellent. I would recommend staying elsewhere and visiting the hotel bar for its ambiance.”

• I was able to upgrade to a junior suite for a reasonable amount

“The hotel atmosphere was a bit funky but a nice change from the usual chain hotels. The staff was exceptionally friendly and Bin36 was a great place for a late afternoon wine and cheese break. Many nice restaurants within a short walk.Shopping was a bit of a walk but very doable. We definitely enjoyed our stay at Hotel Sax.”

• I loved the entertainment lounge that the hotel had.

“This hotel was located in a great section of the city. Close to Michigan Ave and lot's of shops. Located right next to House of Blue's. The room's were sorta to bohemian for us. My husband said it reminded him of his grandmother's house. The entertainment lounge was wonderful to play games and surf the internet.”

“Okay, weird decor, the lobby served as the entrance for the club inside the hotel so it was
weird trying to get home at 10 pm and feet like you were walking in the club, the music was blaring loud in the lobby.”

• It's location was perfect and the stay was very quiet and comfortable.
• Falls short of a 4* hotel. The first room we were given smelled of sewage. Plus, no pool

• We were charged $40 for parking our car overnight in their lot.

“We were charged $40 for parking our vehicle overnight in the hotels lot, we were also charged 4.50 for a can of Pepsi from the room refrigerator, while there was a sign saying there is a charge for those items it was not detailed and we were shocked to pay that much for a lousy can of Pepsi. In addition to all this the beds were extremely hard and uncomfortable and my son found an old dusty sweater behind the dresser that had been left there for Lord only knows how long!”

• Location was great.
• Room.

“Small room, no dresser, poor lighting for women, no bathtub, no coffee pot and no room service. Staff was very accommodating and friendly. Nice flat screen, however the sound was average (muffled or echoing). Not very romantic, which is what we were looking for. Probably a good place for the younger crowd or a family.”

• Exceptional decor and wonderful view. Very different and modern.
• Room service was very expensive, no free coffee in room, a negative for sleepyheads.

“Overall, a cool place to stay. Nice touches like martini glasses supplied with expensive vodka and patron tequila displayed elegantly on a tray. Mirrored wall and floor to ceiling windows that actually opened for fresh air. Nice smooth linens and lots of fluffy pillows. Maids were extremely polite and anxious to please.”

• From the moment you walk in the door you know you will be taken care of!
• I had difficulty finding the parking entrance.

“As a business traveler this hotel has a fantastic location in downtown, right off the river. Easy access back to the interstate and right on the rail line to get back to O'Hare. The remodel done in recent years makes this hotel top of the line! I have stayed at many hotels in downtown Chicago and this one is at the top of my list.”

• The view and the overall size of the room was great.
• This is a hotel for the jet set and those that like to party.

“The Hotel Sax is very affordable. If you like to party and want a trendy look with hip people to see, this is your place. We were awakened at 3:00 am by loud party-happy people next door who had their music up so loud, our beds vibrated. Not many of the rooms had high ceilings or a view of the river. Ours was on the top floor and was the last room down the East wing so we had high ceilings and a fantastic view. The hotel has some nice furnishings but you can tell some of the furniture may have come via going out of business sales of local Chicago establishments. The other big thing is that this hotel is barely in the River North area. It is just over the river but is really closer to the loop.”

• Its close to the Magnificent Mile. Nice shower. Nice ambiance. Comfortable king size bed.
• Valet parking being the only parking option. Ugly wallpaper in room with chandelier painted on.

“Not a hotel for families. This hotel is for a younger crowd thats ready to party. Clubs in the hotel and the hotel is right next to the House Of Blues. Bed was extremely comfortable. Nice bathroom and shower head. The lobby was a bit shabby. You can tell that the hotel is older because we could hear other people taking a shower as if we were in an apartment building.”

• Just a nice comfortable place to stay, and located near all the Chicago hot spots.
• The staff was front dest staff was not friendly, and did not make an effort to make you feel welcome. Senior mangement was on point, Kudos.

“The hotel overall is very nice, and met our expectations. It's located in a very good area of downtown Chicago, far enough away from the hustle and bustle of Michigan Avenue, but close enough that one could walk over to enjoy that part of downtown. The front desk staff was not that helpful, and I'd say they were the only disappointment. Senior management was on point, and moved expeditiously to handle a small problem we had. I would highly recommend Hotel SAX.”

• The beds.
• Staff is incompetent, furnace broke in room and took too long to fix of switch rooms.

“We had a room that had no heat and at least an hour and a half went by from the time that we informed the front desk about it until the time we finally got into a heated room. We had a baby with us who was ready to go down for a nap we had to sit in the hallway to stay warm. Right when we got there, we asked for a roll-away bed and we were told that our room was too small to fit one. I was thinking, "how big could a roll-away be that it won't fit in this room?" We went out on the town for a few hours and when we came back we took a shot with a different front desk person and asked them for a roll-away and they had one sent right up! That's strange! And to answer your next question, yes, it fit just fine.”
