• The beds are comfortable! Close to Merchandise Mart for my business trip.
• My view wasn't the greatest.

• Great location, comfortable bed, nicely furnished room, roomy bathroom.
• I found a used condom wrapper in the dresser drawer next to my bed. Obviously the cleaning staff had not cleaned that drawer.

“The hotel is within walking distance of all the downtown sites. The rooms are large with nice furnishings and very comfortable beds. The bathrooms are a nice size with upper scale fixtures. The one downside was that the cleaning staff did not ensure the room was thoroughly cleaned between guests.”

“It was very nice. Right on the river. Had no problems getting a river view for no additional charge. Concierge was great at trying to find us dinner during peak hours on a Friday night. Held our luggage after we checked out so we could do additional sight seeing.”

• Location was excellent, staff was helpful and courteous.
• Beds were not as comfortable as touted.

“We chose the Westin for comfort, quality, and value. The rooms were spacious and quiet, and the staff was very helpful and accommodating. And the location was excellent -right on the Chicago River within easy walking distance of Grant Park, Navy Pier, the Loop, Magnificent Mile, etc. A great place to stay for a romantic getaway or a family vacation to Chicago. Highly recommended.”

• I especially liked the sitting area in the room. In addition to a arm chair, there was a chaise-type sofa.
• Other than the coffee pot in the room, I feel the hotel should offer complimentary coffee in the lobby / bar area.

“I understand that the decor theme of the hotel is modern; however, I found the lobby to be rather stark in appearance. In addition, the main entrance (the only way into the hotel) has revolving doors and then a set of regular doors. It is difficult for guests to maneuver thru the revolving doors with luggage and then to cope with opening the next set of doors. Overall, though, we enjoyed our stay at the Westin River North. The hotel was centrally located, peaceful and the staff was very cordial. We especially enjoyed our massages.”

• The decor was very modern, staff was very helpful.
• Had to pay in order to use Internet in room.

“This hotel was conveniently located near the magnificent mile. The rooms are very nice, clean and comfortable - with modern decor. Staff was extremely attentive. Would definitely stay here again.”

“Fun atmosphere, good location on the Chicago River near Michigan Ave. Fee to use fitness center seemed somewhat unfair/unreasonable compared to similar hotels where the fitness facilities are free to guests.”

“Nice hotel with great bed. View on construction side not attractive, and probably loud when they are working, we were there Saturday night to Sunday am so this was not a problem for us. Requested ahead of time non-construction side but were not accommodated.”

“I would tell anyone to stay here if you want to feel special and like you are a celebrity and the bedding was wonderful, bathrooms very nice, neat and clean and the lobby and all the staff very helpful. I will be back again and the price that we paid made the stay even nicer.”

“This hotel is a great alternative if you do not want to pay Four Seasons/Ritz-Carlton rates. Walk to everything location; decor is contemporary but understated and comfortable; atmosphere is calm and quiet, and not in the trendy, faux way that many modern hotels try to create.”

“My hubby and I went for a night away. We wanted a nice hotel, with a good location, and great price. We were trying to do a night away in downtown Chicago in expensively Great location. We walked to American girl place (not quite a mile) to get our daughter an American girl doll. We also walked to Lou magnates pizza place for dinner (great pizza and very reasonable. we ordered appetizers, salad, and. To save money we brought my hubbies laptop and our own DVD¿s to watch movies in our room. (In room movie rentals around $14 each). ”

“Stayed here for only a night as my wife and I were in town to go to the oriental theatre. Great location for anyone that wants to walk to the theatre district. The hotel was very clean, quiet, and very upscale. The room was immaculate and had a great view of the river. Would definitely stay again.”

• The staff was very accommodating and friendly. I felt I was attended to and appreciated the quick service we received. Located close to shopping.
• I couldn't afford to stay more than one night, however, for the area it was not over priced.

“I would recommend the Westin to my friends. I thought it was close enough to walk to shopping and the Navey Pier, if you enjoy walking, as we do. I found the hotel to be clean and the staff to be very friendly. The atmosphere was upscale. My two teenagers felt pretty special that weekend--I wish we could experience that more often.”

• Concierge was less than helpful when requesting potential breakfast options.

“Excellent location two blocks from the Clark Station. Friendly courteous staff and clean facility. Very cool lounge in the lobby. Doorman seemed to disappear at odds times, but when he was there he was very helpful.”

• The hotel was very clean and the workout facility was new (although you had to pay extra).
• It was a bit farther than many others for walking to the main shopping area of Michigan avenue, but this was not really a problem.

“Staff were friendly, wonderful view of the river from our window, open lobby with plenty of seating at the bar/snack area. It was easy to get to Michigan Avenue and surrounding shopping. ”

• Comfortable, convenient to dining and shopping locations.
• Parking, too expensive, no direct access to car if needed to retrieve something.

“Comfortable and friendly hotel conveniently located. Good alternate to more expensive nearby hotels with same facilities. Do not expect to get to your car though once it is parked at pretty steep price of $38.00 a night.”

• Horrible leisure location - far from everything.

“Very unfriendly and unhelpful front desk staff. Because I am a Star wood Preferred member, all Westins I have been a stayed at will generally offer complimentary upgrade if available. This hotel front desk person said "I will not check if there are any possible room upgrades". I asked why not? He said "because I don't want to offer you a complimentary upgrades."”

• I really liked how nice the rooms are at The Westin. The beds are incredible.
• I thought that the hotel was a little expensive, but it was in the range for the area.

“The Westin River North is wonderful. If you are looking for a relaxing and comfortable stay this is it. The beds are incredible. They are the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. The bathrooms are nice as well. It all has a very luxurious feel.”

• EXCELLENT location! River views from most rooms. Free wireless Internet access in lobby area.
• Extra charges for parking ($38.00 per day) and Internet use.

• AC was the worst I've every experienced, we awoke in a sauna every morning.

“I would not go back. I can stay at home with the AC off and experience the same thing. But then, I would never do that to my wife. I stay in hotels all over the world because I am an international airline pilot and I have never stayed in a hotter room. The parking was way over priced, $77.00 for 2 nights. Breakfast in the Cafe was 53.00 for two. The hotel said our room was 350.00. ”

“This is a great hotel located between the loop and the Magnificent Mile. It is also within walking distance of good restaurants. The staff were very helpful from the maid to the desk clerks to the doorman.”

• Walking distance to Michigan Ave, restaurants, shopping, and theater.
• When we pulled up to the hotel front entrance we were not greeted or assisted with our bags. We had to wait further for valet assistance.

“This four star hotel is located within walking distance to Michigan Avenue, local restaurants, and the theater district. The hotel decor and the staff are professional providing guest with a great place to stay.”

• Charged for outgoing telephone calls with a calling card.

“I was greeted by the bellman who was very friendly and asked if he could help with anything. The front desk promptly helped me when I found out there was no ice in the ice machine. The concierge called a local Hour Glass to make sure it could accommodate me with a lenses that popped out. Very, very good experience.”
