“The hotel was very nice. When I arrived at the hotel, I was told I could not have two double beds. I was able to get two double beds, but only after talking to another receptionist at the front desk.”

• The view from our room was nice-a view of the river.
• Being charged for using the fitness room.

“This was a nice hotel, conveniently located. The room was large with a chaise for reading or looking out the window at the river below. The bathroom was large with a double shower head.”

• Rooms were updated and staff very friendly.
• Kids would have liked a pool.

“Great hotel and nice, clean rooms. Location is good, but not great for anyone wanting to spend time shopping on Magnificent Mile. However, the walk is just a few blocks. Great for business travelers. If you are traveling with kids, be warned that there is not a pool.”

“Our room was very nice and had a wonderful view of the river. The location was great with tons of places to go within walking distance. The bed was very comfortable. Of course I was not informed of this charge the first couple times I asked about getting the roll-away. The parking was a little more expensive.”

• The hotel is in walking distance of many restaurants and Michigan Avenue.
• Believe it or not, the bed was not very comfortable. It looked inviting, but was hard.

“The hotel is centrally located. It is in walking distance of many restaurants and shopping, including Michigan Avenue. This hotel is upscale. It is a good choice for couples or business travelers. There is no pool so it probably is not the best choice for traveling families. Overall - The Westin is a beautiful hotel and I would recommend it.”

• Location, atmosphere, there wasn't anything that could have disappointed us we were very happy.
• $41.00 for parking was tough.

“The staff was very friendly, if we needed a cab they whistled and like magic one drove up, the bell boy was very professional brought all our luggage to the room, made sure everything was in order and asked it there was anything we needed that he could take care of. It was a wonderful weekend and the hotel made it very special.”

• I enjoyed the view and the fact that you could not hear a lot of noise.
• I wanted two double beds and got a king size bed.

“I really enjoyed my stay at the Westin. It was walking distance to all the restaurants and shopping in river north. I would recommend this hotel to all my friends.”

• The air conditioner in the room did not work and the hotel couldn't fix it.

“Good buy for the money. The rooms were nice and spacious, well appointed. Housekeeping was excellent. The location was out of this world, within walking distance of almost all we wanted to see in Chicago.”

• The location was great! Across the street from Harey Carey's and the House of Blues and a stones throw from downtown.
• The Concierge was stuck up.

“Great location! The parking was expensive but valet parking usually is. There was construction going on across the street and they start work very early. Overall the hotel was a 4 star not a good place for kids though. The hotel caters to the rich and business traveler.”

• Great location by numerous amenities within walking distance. Stayed on preferred guest floor. Room was very attractive and most comfortable.
• Did not detect anything negative.

“Great hotel, friendly staff, room service for breakfast was extra quick (Sunday morning). Lounge in evening after attending theater was very relaxing with good buzz of people but not outrageous. Will definitely stay again in better weather so we can easily walk to the close by theaters, shopping and restaurants. Great value for what we ended up paying.”

• Beautiful room, great location, wonderful bed, Lobby is inviting, modern and comfortable with a convenient bar.
• Room temperature too hot. Sensor is next to window which made the room too hot on a cold March day.

• Everyone was very nice. The room was modern with great decor.
• Nothing.

“I had as excellent stay from the moment I pulled my car up. The lobby and all common areas were very nice and modern. The room was fabulous, modern, clean, great decor, nice size, and great view. The food from room service was excellent. My car was brought fast and I had very kind help with my luggage. The service was superb. My only wish is that it was right on Michigan Ave. Even being very out of shape, it was an easy walk for me to shop.”

• When we walk into the lobby it smelled so refreshing.
• The heating system was difficult to work.

“The hotel accommodations were very pleasant. The only disappointment was when our car [BMW] that was park in the hotel parking facilities had several drip spots of tar on the hood of the vehicle when it was returned to us. The staff was very friendly and helpful.”

• Location a bit out of the way.

“Great hotel, comfortable in what is expected of Star wood and Westin. Great bar and nice restaurant. Restaurants about nearby (Ruth's Chris, Sullivan's and other pubs within 1/2 blocks). Bin 36 is across the street. Nice health club with nice new machines. A few blocks from Michigan Avenue with good access to the loop and restaurants that seem to be opening all the time.”

• The staff went over and beyond any expectations in making our weekend a special event.
• Charging $3.00 delivery plus 22+% tip for room service.

“The candles in the lobby were inviting and set a special atmosphere. The desk staff and concierge staff went over and beyond any expectations to make my surprise "bachelorette-sister" weekend special for me and my daughters. The room service staff, the maids, every person I encountered were polite, helpful and accommodating. I would stay here again, and have recommended the hotel to everyone I have talked to.”

• The beautiful inviting lobby and it's friendly bar staff.
• Bathroom fixtures becoming dated, better snacks at the bar.

“Very elegant hotel tucked on the North side of the River. Used to be the Hotel Nikko back in the 90's and the Asian influence that was designed in then was so cutting edge it has held up well. Room was spacious, bed luxurious, room service excellent, starbucks coffee in the coffee maker. Fast elevators as well.”

• Classy decor, wonderfully comfortable bed, made you feel like you were somewhere.
• No continental breakfast. Dislike the offering of adult programming.

• The atmosphere and design of the building and rooms was very polished.
• We had to call and request that housekeeping clean our room after the first day.

“This hotel is in the heart of the city. It is mere feet from the House of Blues and Harry Carry's. If you enjoy shopping it is 3 blocks away from the shops on State Street. Once you are back at the hotel you are surrounded by elegance and high-end perfection.”

• Felt like a luxury hotel in a great location for a decent price.
• Nothing - it was fabulous!

“We were pleasantly surprised at how nice this hotel was. The location was perfect, the staff was friendly and the concierge was incredibly helpful. We booked a room with two double beds and they upgraded us to a corner room with a king bed and incredible view of the city. We were extremely impressed and wished we had more time to spend there.”

“We had a great experience at the Weston River North and would happily stay there again. The first room we were given did not have a properly working thermostat, so we were upgraded, which we really appreciated. The location was terrific and the room was very comfortable.”

• Could have been a little bit cleaner in bathroom.

“It's a good hotel and I will stay there again. The only thing that turned me off was that they had not changed out the toiletries the first night that we arrived. I didn't complain it wasn't that big of a deal. I just wanted to relax and enjoy my weekend, which I did.”

• Strict adherence by Westin to a style and level of service established by hotel Nikko.
• Poor lighting in room, heating was broken (too cold or too hot).

“This is perhaps the best located hotel in Chicago, whether for business or leisure travel. The elegant simplicity of the former hotel Nikko lives on, with few signs of age or loss of capability that made the Nikko a prime destination in Chicago for so many years. Highly recommended.”

“This is a high quality hotel with nicely appointed rooms. The lobby was welcoming and large and opened into a spacious bar area where people enjoyed drinks and appetizers. We had a flat panel HD television in our room that the kids loved. Room service was prompt and courteous and the food was tasty. We were within walking distance to Chicagos theater district and some fantastic state street shopping.”

• The rooms were spacious and who doesn't love a heavenly bed.
• TVs need to be placed higher. Hard to watch from bed.

“We booked 3 rooms and each room was spacious and nicely appointed. The bathroom was also very large. This hotel is really close to some great places and a short walk to Michigan Ave. The bar/lobby area was right in the middle of the main floor and the no smoking makes it allot more enjoyable. The heavenly bed makes it hard to want to check out in the morning. The restaurant also had a superb breakfast buffet. Our experience is worthy of another visit!”

“We have stayed in a lot of 4-star hotels in big cities and this was definitely my favorite. The decor is sophisticated and urban but the staff was very friendly, helpful and accommodating.”

• Valet parking isn't included in the daily rate, and at $41/day was a not-pleasant, rather expensive surprise.

• One of the most outstanding rooms Ive ever had in Chicago. Incredible value.
• What's not to like with a river view in a corner room!

“The Westin River North is the old Neco Hotel and it still has the charm of an Asian Motif. The open space lobby and bar has charm, and the garden areas, even in November add character. And what a grand view of the Chicago River, with beautiful architecture all around. It is a very short walk to anywhere on Michigan Ave, but Nordstrom may catch you first. Also, there are many interests right out the front door. Too often visitors get caught up in the Miracle Mile and forget about the great boutiques and cafes on adjacent side streets. This is a great travelers hotel with a staff of helpful, friendly people. I can't wait to return.”
