• Exciting atmosphere.
• Small rooms.

“Expect to pay $70 to upgrade to a room with double beds upon check-in. However, you can request a cot for no charge. The rooms are incredibly small for the price, and with the addition of a cot, you'll be tripping over yourself.”

• I wasn't impressed with this hotel at all.
• It is not a family hotel at all. It was like a nightclub when we walked in.

“This hotel is not for those traveling with family. It was like walking into a nightclub with my two small children. I was put in was barely big enough for one person. Then the second room I was put in looked like a college dorm room and there was a loud party next door and we were moved again. Overall I was not impressed with this hotel at all and would not recommend staying there.”

“Took my wife out for our 5 year anniversary and had a great time at the W. Everyone was very nice and the room was great. Wish we had a better view but couldn't ask for more on the price we got through Priceline at a 4 star hotel that was Amazing.”

• Beautiful rooms, sleek lobby, helpful concierge
• Teeny tiny bathroom, small room, hard to move in lobby

“Great, beautiful hotel for my husband and I. Romantic but a little cramped. People were very friendly but even on a Sat. morning they stopped the lobby coffee at 10 AM - and there's no coffee in the room so that was unexpected and unpleasant but all in all we had a nice stay.”

• Amazing hotel, great service, very modern and trendy.

“This is a great hotel for younger people. It has a very modern and very trendy atmosphere. The service was impeccable and the staff was very nice and willing to help out in anyway. We stayed in the entry level rooms and it was amazing, the rooms are just as modern and trendy as the lobby and the bed was irresistible. The W will be my first choice of hotels for any of my next hotel stays.”

• Room size and decor fantastic! Overall hotel ambience very nice.
• Room service expensive and made more than one mistake.

“A lovely, comfortable hotel in a better location than it looks at first. Walking distance to major shopping and attractions. Room size was generous, and rooms very comfortably and beautifully appointed. The overall attitude of the staff generates a desire to please. However, the person taking room service orders was not on the ball. It makes a huge impact on your perception of the overall hotel when you spend outrageous amounts on a small room service request, and they get it wrong. In general, I would recommend the hotel to friends and family visiting Chicago.”

• Lobby was very beautiful. Staff was very nice.
• Closet was in the bathroom (sink area) and difficult to get at, need to close bathroom door to open closet door, awkward set up.

“Hotel was very nice, it appears that it was an old hotel but they have really tried to update it. View from room not at all appealing faced office building.”

• The room was stylish and relatively quiet.
• The room was very small and the public spaces (hallways and lobby) were not lighted adequately.

“While stylish, the rooms were quite small by American standards. The full bed, which we were told would be a queen, was not overly comfortable for two people. The nonstop electronical music in the lobby was okay at night but a bit much in the morning. Some of the public areas were too dimly lit for safety. The hotel is, perhaps, a bit too hip for my tastes, but that's what they strive to be. The staff was friendly and helpful.”

• It was romantic, relaxing and comfortable.

“I have stayed at this hotel before and really enjoyed the experience. The service was great. We had a complementary glass of champagne at the bar and they even made last - minute reservations at a nearby famous Chicago restaurant. I would definitely stay here again!”

• Hallways were a little dark.

“It was great value for the money. We were easily within walking distance of the Sears Tower (4 min), Theatre District (8 min), Millennium Park, Waterfront, and the Magnificent Mile (10 min).”

“The worst hotel experience I've ever had. Arrived with my wife and daughter at 3 PM sharp only to find many of my fellow wedding guests had been waiting for hours for their rooms. Then the W's crack welcome desk clerk, informed me that room belonged to another guest. Ok, fine - I guess I made the whole thing up! Anyway, the clerk managed to find us a room, (after an hour) which we found had 1 double bed, although I had asked for two beds. As it was too late to go anywhere else and make the wedding my daughter slept on the floor. I did ask another clerk if we could at least have a couple of extra pillows and blankets. We were still waiting on them next morning! By the way, the concierge/ parking service employees were friendly and super efficient. In my opinion the head car guy should be running the hotel. I've had better service and treatment at the Motel 6 outside of Muncie Indiana - if you get my drift!”

“Hotel is very up-scale. We were traveling with two young kids (11 & 14). No pool, kind of off the beaten path. Lobby, halls, stairs, elevators were dimly lit. Let me take that back, they were downright dark! Really nothing for the kids to do.”

• It was very trendy.
• The hotel room was ridiculously small, so we were knocking into things.

“The room and bathroom were way too small. We only had a double bed because that is all that could fit in the room. I have stayed in 2.5 star rooms that were more comfortable. We were very disappointed in it. When we got in we had to rush right back out so we didn't waste the time to try to change rooms. I will definitely not try to stay in a 4 star room.”

• Very loud lobby. Very annoying sound system.

“This "W" may be the worst hotel of the 10 or so I have stayed in when in Chicago. The lights in the lobby were so low it was difficult to discern where one was going. The bartender in the bar off the lobby was dressed like a hooker and seem pretty uncomfortable in her attire. The room I was given was on the inside of building facing interior walls receiving only indirect light. The baths were so small that nearly every move made had to be anticipated. I had to lean on the front desk clerk to give me a non-smoking king room when he insisted no rooms of that type were available. Overall, an unusually unpleasant experience.”

“A perfect place for a summer weekend in Chicago. Walked to Millennium Park, the Art Institute and Sears Tower. Stopped at a couple pubs on the way back to the hotel, The bar had great martinis, the room was impeccable and we had everything we needed. The staff was excellent.”

• The beds were comfortable.
• The location is a bit of a hike to most things.

“We had a pleasant stay at the W City Center. We chose the loop since we were planning to hit both the Shedd Aquarium and Michigan AVE shopping. So the hotel was in the middle of both with decent access to the free trolley, but we found it a bit more distant and removed than we like. The room was spacious and comfortable. The staff were friendly, and we really have no complaints.”

• We were in a handicapped room with an open shower and water was everywhere.

“The people and location were great, but the room did not live up to the expectation. This hotel is a three star at best. I have stayed at the Fairmont Downtown in Chicago, and numerous other four star place throughout the country and this was by far the worst! It was nice, but not four stars!”

• Hotel is great for single young, hip travelers. Good location, clean and upscale.
• Could not get two double beds for the life of me! Got a roll away after requesting it 3 times. They also tried to bill me for a snack I didn't have.

“Very good Downtown location, (they were filming a movie when we were checking out). Very hip lobby-turns to a lounge at night. I would recommend for young people out to have fun in Chicago. Upscale & clean. Room was large, as well as the bathroom. Close to the parks and attractions (walking distance-great).”

• The decor and ambiance was very pleasant and modern; loved the look and feel of the hotel.
• I have stayed in this hotel 3 times in the past, and neither time did I have a nice view. Would have loved to see what their nicer views are like.

• The doormen were pleasant and attentive. The Acura Experience was very convenient.
• The room furnishings were in very poor condition. Chairs very sagging and obvious depression in the bed.

“I thought the hotel was very nice until I got to the room. I was very disappointed in the furniture in the room. The chaise lounge cushion was very sagging to the point of being unusable, it was also stained. The office chair cushion was also sagging and stained. There was an obvious depression in one side of the bed. I went to the front desk for change so that I could tip and I had to wait in line 10 minutes at the bar. There is no store in the hotel with soda, snacks, reading material. The doormen and valet were pleasant and attentive. The use of the Acura experience was very convenient and I was thankful for it. There is no way I would recommend this hotel to anyone I know and I wouldn't pay to go there again with my own money.”

• Tiny, small, cramped rooms that are old but were remolded to try and be modern.

“The one and only thing that stood out for me with this hotel is its Concierge desk. EXCELLENT customer service. Love the "Acura" experience free rides to dinner at night. Other than that. The hotel is WAY too expensive for its tiny rooms.”

“Booked a room with a double bed, however when we arrived, despite having a confirmation that stated so, hotel claimed that our reservation did not ask for a double bed. Hotel was supposedly booked full that night, so instead of going through the hassle of switching hotels, we decided that if they had a roll-away bed that would do for the night. Person at desk said that she would have one sent up. We left to go to an event, when we arrived back 3 hours later, still no roll-away bed. Called again and was promised delivery. Stayed in room for an hour, then left for dinner. Got back from dinner, and you guessed it, still no bed. Called again before going out for the evening, and once again promised a bed was on the way. Came back around 11:30 pm, still no bed. Called again and after waiting another hour, bed was finally delivered at 12:30 am. Absolutely horrible service. Just awful. Room was dingy as well. Would not recommend this amateur establishment to anyone. They come across as some high class hip euro hotel, yet beneath the facade it's simply awful. I've had better service and stay at a Motel 6. Also waiting (it's been 3 days) for answer to why my credit card was charged extra despite not using any of the highly overpriced amenities. Should be interesting, and unless they correct will be filing fraud charges.”

• great beds, pre-fixed dinner good food and price, trendy decor
• rooms too small for furniture, in room items price do not include added service fee to already expensive things!

“I am all about the details when dining and staying in hotels.

My partner was very pleased with very masculine in decor. Staff always greeted him, when I traveled through lobby by myself I was not greeted.”
