“Nice, comfortable, and felt upscale.” Nov 18, 2009 by
Marsha from Louisville,KY
“I cannot imagine anyone paying full price for this room. It was very small and very inconvenient to get to. I cannot imagine how we would have gotten out of the place. We had to take two sets of elevators to get to the rooms. Our view was the inside of the hotel walls. We could not even see the sky!” Oct 19, 2009 by
Chele' from Johnson Ciyt,TN
“Roomy and a nice view on the river side.” Oct 9, 2009 by
Stefan from Aichach,DE
“I was surprised of the quality, stylish, clean and modern, good staff, many weddings and other events: on the one hand funny and good for people-watching, on the other a bit loud! I will recommend the hotel.” Sep 30, 2009 by
Derik from Royal Oak,MI
“Convenient location that was close to the action, but not submerged in it. Very clean and up-to-date. I would most definitely stay here again.” Sep 16, 2009 by
Mary Lynn from Springfield,IL
“Very nicely decorated, quiet, clean. Great location, nice staff. I would highly recommend this hotel.” Sep 10, 2009 by
Lisa from Madisonville,KY
“We checked in and were given a smoking room, which we do not smoke. My husband called down and asked if we could have a non smoking room. They said no. Our room was old and outdated and also was above the ballroom, which would not have been a problem except that they had a DJ every night till midnight, which was very loud and we are not teenagers anymore. Then every night like clock work at 4 am the room next door would come in drunk and screaming till about 5:30 am. We called to complain but it did not do much good. Overall it was just not a very good experience.” Aug 22, 2009 by
Gina from Woodbury,MN
“The location is a little far from Navy Pier - but still located in a good area. We felt very safe and the view of the river from the hotel is excellent. The front desk staff was less than impressive and the concierge was mostly away from his desk and then unhelpful when we could manage to locate him. Parking is a bit pricey - but still less than other hotels downtown. Rooms were nice and clean - no complaints. The hotel lobby is on the 15th floor - had to take two seperate elevators to our room.” Aug 13, 2009 by
MMW from Belleville,MI
“Very friendly staff, clean rooms and the bed was comfortable.” Aug 9, 2009 by
Jason from Salt Lake City,UT
“They could only offer a smoking room which was very disappointing but they compensated by giving us tickets for free breakfast for two days.” Aug 5, 2009 by
Priscilla from Marshfield,WI
“Unfriendly staff at check in.” Jul 6, 2009 by
Hollly from South Beloit,IL “I would not recommend this hotel, disappointed in staff, food, pool, location, accessibility to rooms.” Jun 28, 2009 by
Jeremy from Columbia,MO
“Stuck us in the room right next to the staff elevator shaft. Very, very noisy. Luckily they stopped room service around 11 and didn't start again until 7, so sleeping wasn't too bad. Overall hotel was nice. Cool bar with an amazing view. Good location to walk to LIncoln Park, Streeterville, Loop.” Jun 17, 2009 by
from Owosso,MI
“Great price for the area and a wonderful view.” Jun 11, 2009 by
Erin from Santa Fe,NM
“The hotel begins on the 15th floor and goes to the 23rd. Be sure to ask directions to the Lobby from the El stop. It's not a bad walk through the mart but can be a bit confusing. The El is not particularly accessible for people with disabilities or large suitcases something to consider. The pool looked very inviting and even had lap lanes for those more serious swimmers.” Jun 11, 2009 by
Travis from San Antonio,TX
“People were nice, hotel was clean. Enjoyed my short stay.” May 29, 2009 by
Sarah from Orland Park,IL
“This hotel was great! The staff was very accomodating. They bumped us up to a bigger room with a view with no extra charge. We had a wonderful stay and would love to go back!” May 29, 2009 by
Kate from Nashville,TN
“The hotel was fantastic. It was located near the merchandise mart which was connected to the train (CTA). The hotel lobby was also extravagant, and nice.” May 29, 2009 by
Sarah from Richmond,IN
“This hotel was great in every way except one. It had great views (the lobby was on the 15th floor of the Sun Times Building and the rooms were above that.) The rooms were large, the beds were comfortable, and the public areas, restaurants and pool were lovely. The one problem was that it was located away from all the action of Chicago, ie. Millennium Park, Navy Pier, the Magnificent Mile, etc. You either had to do a lot of walking or take a taxi. If the hotel would run a shuttle bus over to Michigan Avenue, that would be a great addition.” May 6, 2009 by
Monica from Naperville,IL
“Very much great place to stay, very clean, kept up and classy place, I would recommend this to anyone family or friends!” Apr 23, 2009 by
Lindsay from Dorchester,MA
“ This Holiday Inn absolutely met my expectations, along with very comfortable, well-kept rooms with free internet access, it's got a decent gym and swimming pool. Overall we enjoyed our stay very much. ” Apr 23, 2009 by
Heather from Alexandria,VA
“I don't feel that I was treated as well as others that may have paid full price. They asked for $20/night surcharge to have a room with a view (otherwise you faced an interior courtyard). They also wouldn't provide a room with a king size bed without an additional $20/night. I'm unsure as to whether this would have been waived had I paid a specific price on Priceline, but it made the experience a bit disappointing.” Apr 23, 2009 by
from Goshen,IN
“This was a very nice hotel. It is updated, it doesn't look like the pictures at all. It's right by the River. The staff was very nice and friendly. The only thing is that it is about a mile away from the main streets (Michigan Avenue) and if you are not bringing a car, you will be walking a lot. Other than that it is a very nice and friendly hotel to stay at.” Apr 22, 2009 by
Maggie from Lafayette,IN
“My best friend and I loved it! Felt very luxury for a nice trip in Chicago! The hotel was very pretty and big! We felt like rock stars being on the 20th floor and we had great views!” Apr 21, 2009 by
Adeyinka from Baltimore,MD
“Poor hotel/concierge staff, no valet parking and hotel on the 15th floor.” Apr 15, 2009 by
Jennifer from Cedar Rapids,IA
“At the time I stayed they were still working on a pretty major renovation project, so the hotel is somewhat of a mess. The rooms are pretty standard, nice but nothing special. Location leaves a bit to be desired for the leisure traveler. I would however recommend it for the business traveler, particularly if you are doing business in the loop.” Apr 13, 2009 by
Matt from Wauseon,OH
“Nice hotel - especially for the price I paid. A little bit off the Magnificent Mile but in a good, quiet location right along the river.” Mar 26, 2009 by
Audrey from Milwaukee,WI “The hotel staff was very friendly, the rooms were nice, neat and the lounge was wonderful! I only stayed over night but my stay was pleasant & relaxing for the most part. They are in the process of remodeling which was fine, but I wasn't able to view fully the entire hotel.” Mar 26, 2009 by
Sam from Miami,FL
“Hotel was clean and the panoramic view of downtown Chicago was amazing.” Mar 18, 2009 by
Elizabeth from Hermitage,TN
“I would not stay here again. The rooms were very small and we had a view of the construction in the courtyard (even though the view was what sold us on the hotel to begin with). The hotel staff were rude and not helpful, and the concierge was never available (ever). I wouldn't recommend this hotel!” Mar 18, 2009 by
Chris from Acton,MA “It's under construction, no fridge in the room, under construction, place is a joke and the carpet is recycled from some casino circa the 1970's.” Mar 5, 2009 by
Jan from West Lafayette,IN
“The breakfast for 3 cost more than the room. Felt the breakfast rates were really out of line, and were only charged because we were a "captive" audience. It was the first time the valet parking ticket had to be stamped by the front desk in order to get the car back.” Mar 4, 2009 by
Danielle from Munster,IN
“Good location, nice view. The room was a good size but very basic. I would stay again.” Feb 20, 2009 by
from Dorchester,MA
“All things considered we got a good hotel. The location of the hotel was just what we wanted and the room was clean and comfortable. Wish we would have had more of a view than the pool room window but we weren't there to stay in the room. Staff was helpful except for some confusion upon check out but it was resolved just fine.” Feb 19, 2009 by
Joe from Palatine,IL
“We had a great time and I used the workout room each day it was very clean. You can get a cab anytime day or night.” Jan 23, 2009 by
Vikki from Wales,WY
“Very convenient for those attending trade shows at the Chicago Mart.” Dec 14, 2008 by
Nishá from Houston,TX
“I would definitely rate this hotel super excellent. The staff was spectacular, the room was clean and had an awesome view of Chicago, and it was quiet and peaceful. I am planning to stay here again for New Year's Eve and will most likely stay here everytime I visit Chicago.” Dec 12, 2008 by
Heike from Bushkill,PA
“Hotel is inconvenient to get too. You need to take an elevator to the 15th floor before you even get into the hotel lobby and then another one to your room, it takes too long to get in and out. At check in we were told we couldn't park in front of the hotel to bring our bags inside, but were directed to a parking lot that had no parking available at all. Receptionist wasn't friendly or welcoming. There was a live roach in the bathroom. Cleaning ladies didn't restock toiletries or coffee. On the last day, the person that sits with the visitor brochures was loudly arguing with his mother on the phone. Overall the hotel could be nice, but the staff was extremely unprofessional and I would not go back there.” Nov 26, 2008 by
JoBeth from Neenah,WI
“Very happy with our stay at the Holiday Inn. Half way between the Michigan Avenue shops and the theater night life.” Nov 26, 2008 by
Julia from Lincoln Park,MI
“This hotel has a decent location much of the happenings in the city. The hotel it self is very clean and rooms were nice for the price. Food at the bar was good but everything was a bit pricy.” Nov 15, 2008 by
Melissa from San Francisco,CA
“The Holiday Inn is clearly outdated and in need of a refresh. The location is not walkable, but is very close to CTA lines, which is a plus. The value was not apparent.” Nov 5, 2008 by
Barbara
“The view was fabulous from the north side but we did have noise from the elevated train. Earplugs did the trick. It was hard to eat light food and the food seemed expensive. We dealt with 4 different concierges and they were all wonderfully helpful. In short, it was a good experience.” Nov 1, 2008 by
Brian
“Good hotel for the money. Location was a touch out of the way, but not a problem at all for us. It's a great if you don't mind walking a bit to get to the major locations. Room and hotel were nothing special, but very comfortable, quiet, and easy to deal with. Parking was not good, but basically because of how the hotel dealt with it. Hopefully this was out of the ordinary.” Oct 30, 2008 by
Megan
“This hotel was well priced for the area that it was in in Downtown Chicago. Check-in and check-out was quick and easy. The room was clean and it had a nice view of the city. The only issue that I had was that overnight parking was $28 a night which was expensive but I guess it's Chicago. Also, the hotel is on the 16th floor so it wasn't a quick in and out of the building.” Oct 30, 2008 by
Gary
“I was very pleased with this hotel. It was convenient to downtown Chicago and North Michigan Avenue. The parking costs were expensive but probably on par for that area of Chicago.

“I was very skeptical about the hotel. The hotel was very nice.
