“Hotel was clean. Internet was free. Staff was friendly. Whirlpool suite was good yet affordable. Overall, great experience if you're going to the Geneva/Batavia area. We were there for a wedding and they provided a shuttle to and from the ceremony. Great service!”

• Had a smell in room and the bathroom fan was extremely loud!

“Although I knew it would be a cheap hotel, I didn't think it would be that cheap. There was always a smell in the hall and my room. The bed was hard. The bathroom vent/fan was horribly loud. The size of the room made me feel like I was put in time-out.”

“This hotel is very basic. At the location we stayed there was not even shampoo/conditioner, etc. in the bathroom. We stayed for five nights, half-way through the stay the toilet clogged. We were initially told that we would have to wait for someone else in the hotel to return the plunger (an unspecified period of time) after waiting, unable to use our toilet for fear of overflow, we finally waited at the front desk and eventually the front desk staff got tired of us standing there and gave us a different room. Otherwise I am quite certain we would have been stuck with no bathroom that night (when we kept enquiring she said that she was also doing a maintenance ticket for first thing in the morning!). The second room had old popcorn on the floor around the bed when we got in there, as if the floors had not been vacuumed well from the previous guests. Overall, we were not satisfied with this hotel. The kitchenette was the one nice thing, primarily the fridge and microwave, which you can find in many other rooms that are of similar price.”

“I needed two beds in each room. The hotel did not have an open sofa so my kids can sleep on. Not good. The room did not have a shampoo in the room! You had to go down to the lobby to ask for shampoo. They did not have shampoo at night when we arrived, we had to wait until the next morning to get cleaned up. Not good.”

• Average cleanliness, not friendly receptionist. Not willing to give non-smoker over the phone he said he is full and will see when we arrive.

“Hotel was relatively clean but here and there were a few things that stack out: no shampoo or soap were provided. Some of the forks were sticky! No wake-up call! Internet access was not included in the price nor any sort of breakfast or even a cheap coffee. Receptionist was fast but not friendly, we did not feel welcomed at all.”

“I called several times before my trip to see if I could get a room bed and no one bothered to return my call. The first day we got there it smelled like rotten feet. When we got to our room the beds were hard and uncomfortable. There was no courtesy shampoo in the shower nor soap bars. We had to go to the front desk to ask for some. Horrible hotel wouldn't stay there again!”

• Slightly difficult to navigate to by car if using Goggle maps.

“Fantastic location, right off the interstate. Inter room noise was non existent. Very clean, very efficient, professional and friendly staff. 3 miles from Blue Line terminal, very easy to get to. Highly recommended for adults traveling either on business or for personal recreation.”

• It was cheap. And I got my money's worth. But just barely.
• Housekeeping was sub par. My room was not entirely cleaned when I checked in.

“The Extended Stay America was a 3 star hotel, and this is stretching it. Accommodations are minimalist. Nice kitchenette, but my refrigerator still had things from the previous guest. Staff members who took a phone call from me and checked me in acted like I was bothering them. I wouldn't recommend this hotel or chain to anyone.”

“Horrible customer service at the front desk; was treated like I was doing something wrong by staying at a hotel. Front desk staff was rude, did not smile, impatient and did not know proper protocols of the hotel. The room smelled as though the carpets were urinated on. AC unit vibrated loudly. Bright white fluorescent lighting made the room an industrial bed and couch, not a hotel room.”

• Very friendly staff; room was nice and quiet; wood floors very nice.
• Initially, it smelled sweet, like a perfume was covering up cigarettes; improved with time.

“Overall, it was a very pleasant hotel experience. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was quiet, and I liked the hard wood floors in the kitchen/bathroom areas. Upon my arrival to the room, I was worried about the smell, as it was sweet like perfume trying to cover cigarettes (which Ive experienced elsewhere), and I am allergic to them. However, the smell dissipated with time, and I did not smell any cigarettes, so it must have just been a deodorizer. I would definitely recommend this hotel to the economy class user as a great choice.”

“The staff was unfriendly and unwilling to work with me on the extra charge and I was staying for 9 days. Also, the non-smoking room had a smoke smell coming from the bathroom fan, requiring us to leave the fan on all the time to keep the smoke smell from entering the room when the staff was informed, they told me that they would look into it and never did anything. The toaster was non-functional, and when we requested a new one, they brought one that only worked on one side of the bread.”

“When we arrived the front desk told us we didn't have reservations. I had to wake up husband at home, 30 minutes later we were given a room. Take your own sheets and disinfectant cleaner. You will need it. found a sticky ring from class on window sill it had been there awhile. The floor in the bathroom made the towel gray when you wiped the floor. We cleaned the room instead of calling the front desk because we already knew what clean meant to them.”

• For the price we paid, it was an okay stay. The room included a small kitchen area, which was nice.
• The hotel staff was not available after 9 or 10 PM, which was a huge disappointment. The heat in the room did not work and there was no one to fix it.

“I was very disappointed with this particular hotel. The heater did not work, so we were freezing all night. The front desk closed at 930 or 10 PM, which was the first I've ever seen. The bathroom was not entirely cleaned - there was hair in the bathtub and on the sink. The comforter had stains. They don't even provide toothpaste at the front desk!”

• Room had a strange chemical smell, remodeling?

“Overall, a very nice place. Very quiet, had a little kitchen with utensils/pans/etc. Bed was a little small, something between a queen and a king, great for wife and toddler, I had to sleep on a sleeping bag on the floor. Also, there seemed to be a strange chemical smell from the bathroom, not sure if it had something to do with the recent remodeling or if the main exhaust fan there (and old design) sharing air paths with the rest of the rooms, some of which were smoking. Perhaps some filtering. In any case, I hope I get this place again when I have to return to Chicago later in the year.”

“I agree that you get what you pay for. Overall the room was not bad. I was a little disappointed on the lack of toiletries or items in the room. I had to go down to the lobby for a alarm clock because there was none in the room. Another guest had the same problem. The hotel also had an overpowering perfume smell throughout.”

• Kitchen took from what would have been a spacious room.

“I just wanted a quick place to crash, since we flew in on the red eye. I would have preferred it closer to the airport (about $14 by cab before tip - they charge incidentals like luggage and extra passengers). Besides that woke up nicely and left for the city. Front desk helped with getting us a cab for that too. Very friendly staff.”

• The check in lady tried to be nice but her hands were tied by corporate policy.
• Gave us a single bed, wouldn't switch to 2 beds. Dirty dishes, worn blankets, scuzzy bathroom.

“Sleazy hotel, grimy, dirty, and cheap. No shampoo, conditioner, lotion. Wouldn't upgrade to 2 beds for the four of us, had to sleep on floor. Worn blankets, dirty dishes and sink, gross bathroom, stinking hallways. Shouldn't be on your list of participating hotels.”
