“This hotel is quite beautiful. However the staff was quite rude and had an arrogance about them that was a huge turnoff. For instance, when we went to the front desk to inquire where we could get some bottled water since the one vending machine in the hotel was sold out of everything, the front desk person told us that she could get us some tap water. And that was her only suggestion. Talk about rude and not willing to help.”

• Good location in downtown.
• Very old, no effort to upgrade room interiors, room could have been more clean (dirt counter in bathroom, toilet barley flushed at all).

“While I expected to have a top quality room, as this is a Hilton Hotel, I was less impressed than I had expected I would be and have stayed at many "lower level" hotels that were nicer and cleaner than this Hilton Hotel.”

• The lobby is beautiful.
• It smelled like public restroom our entire stay.

“The hotel was nice. Great price for high class. But the pillows could have been fluffier and it did not help that the building entrance and lobby smelled like public restroom, kind of a turnoff.”

• Great location. Even on a busy street, the rooms were quiet.
• Food came without fries.

“Hotel staff was very friendly, and location was great. Nearby cheap parking. Room was clean, and bathroom was good, too, with nice fixtures, and no missing tiles, dirt, etc. Good water pressure. Some noise from nearby rooms, but not intolerable. Would come again gladly.”

• The lobby.
• The rude treatment I received from management due to being charges $300 in phone charges.

“I was horribly disappointed with my stay because I received $300 in phone charges on my bill and when I complained to the management I was horribly mistreated, and received abusive behavior, I am disgusted by this hotel.”

• The rooms are large and nicely appointed. The hotel was built in 1927 and has totally been refurbished, but keeps its vintage charm in the lobby.
• No complaints.

“This hotel is well located in Milwaukee (near convention center, sports venues, and a department store). Even though the parking is $18 at a covered parking garage, there is an outdoor lot across the street where parking is $5 nightly. The rooms are large, well decorated and attractive. Crabtree and Evelyn bath products are provided. Soon a Starbucks coffee bar is opening near the gift shop (opening November, 2005). For families, there is also a water park located inside the hotel. Highly recommended hotel for both leisure and business travelers.”

• Prime location, the view from my room in the 18th floor.
• Wireless internet is NOT free, tiny small room.

“Generally, I am satisfied with this hotel moderately. If the room can be bigger, and if the internet can be free (maybe this is an antique hotel), I'll like it more.”

“Loved this hotel. Nice room, excellent steak house, a bar that doesn't break the bank with plenty of Wisconsin hospitality. I took a mile walk to the lake at 10.00 on Friday night, the weather was beautiful, the streets were vital, but very safe, loads of shops and nice river walk as well. ”

• Clean, incredibly quiet. With a 14 month old son, we were looking forward to getting away and getting some quality sleep and definitely got it.

“The Hilton in downtown Milwaukee is great! It's an older hotel with old school charm. The staff was great. The front desk staff even sent a bottle of champagne up to my room because I was there celebrating my birthday!”

• We liked having everything right there at our finger tips.
• There was a 9 dollar a day charge for wireless internet. Other hotels free.

• It was a beautiful hotel. Great setup.
• I did not like paying $18.00 a night to park in their garage. Very irritating.

“I enjoyed the hotel. It was beautiful. We had a good time. We were only there a couple of days and didn't spend much time there. It was relatively quiet, except on Sunday morning we did have kids running up and down the hallways fairly early. That happens though, did not hinder our stay at all. The only issue I have is with the $18.00 per night parking. That was ridiculous. Overall though we had a good stay.”

• The location was ideal, the room as desired.

“Milwaukee Hilton is on the main street, Wisconsin Avenue and opposite the Convention Center and very near to the Marquette University Campus. This is a long standing Milwaukee hotel renewed and added onto include a water park for children. The lobby area maintains the appearance of a hotel with cared for patina. The rooms are decorated in a traditional style comfortable and appropriate for the business and leisure traveler alike. The parking garage was attached with in and out privileges for $18/day. Staff was pleasant and accommodating although we didn't had many requests or queries.”

• It's very convenient to the Midwest Airlines Center where the convention was held.
• I feel like the Hilton Hotel chains put you in their worse room if they see you booked on line.

“The hotel was nice but didn't compare to the 4 stars in Chicago. I was put in a room right next to the exercise room that had a bank of at least 4 TVs on the wall the two rooms shared. Very loud when the TV's were turned up and the treadmill on actually shook the pictures on my walls. When I asked to move they put me in a room where I think all the plumbing ran down the outside wall. I heard other people actually "peeing" in the toilets and every time someone flushed or ran water it sounded like they were using my bathroom. Needless to say I didn't sleep well either night. I could also see the hallway lights through the gaps in my door and you could hear everyone coming and going all night long.”

• The interior was beautiful.
• They used too much air freshener.

“My only real complaint was that I could hear everything that was going on in the room next to mine. Our rooms were conjoined which is why I think the noise was able to come through.”

• The maid service is only adequate.

“If you press a little, you may not end up with a view, but at least you'll be able to sleep at night (something that didn't happen on my first visit). The maids are very nice, but have obviously forgotten something major on each trip (trip 1 the sheets had not been changed from the previous guest, trip 2 the toilet was not cleaned, trip 3 the tub was not cleaned). This probably sounds much worse than it really is (I should say the areas were mostly cleaned in trips 2 and 3... trip 1 was not acceptable). Overall, not bad, but the 2 1/2 star Courtyard by Mariott offered downtown is a superior value. I would have thought the Courtyard is the 3 star and the Hilton was the 2 1/2 if I had a blindfold on going in.”

• A large, classic 1930s hotel. Central location. Nicely appointed rooms.
• The staff at the front desk were as coldly efficient as robots, and never cracked a smile.

“The Hilton in Milwaukee is one of those big old downtown hotels, built in the grand 1930s style. The public areas are fairly formal, chandeliers and all. The rooms (I was given one on the 21st floor) are nicely furnished and decorated. There's a selection of on site eateries with various price ranges, along with plenty of other food and shopping options in the immediate neighborhood. Many of Milwaukee's main attractions are within walking distance if you don't mind a little exercise. All in all, it was a great and convenient place to stay. ”

• Paradise cove was breath taking.
• Slow service when trying to get things done.

“If you want to stay in a hotel with breathtaking amenities than this is the hotel for you. Cleanliness, courtesy and attention to large detail is their specialty. However, if quick reliable service is what you want I suggest you move on to the next hotel. Hey look at it this way you can't have everything. I would rather have beauty and courtesy than promptness and curtness any day. I guess it is all about preferences.”

“We like this hotel as it's located in a central part of Milwaukee, has a nice staff and is clean. We would stay here again. If you have kids, the water park looks like fun and would make any kid a happy camper. It's on the older side, but still well maintained.”

“Near Hotel, of course it was a Hilton. Good helpful staff. The woman from a club in the buildings. On the front who runs the valet was the most helpful person I met great. Cleaning staff, hard working helpful.”

• Construction on the highway made access confusing

“In general the service was excellent. Very clean well kept hotel. It is an ancient place so the throw back feel was nice. I was very pleased overall, and I can not complain about the price or the five dollar a day parking across the street.”

• Carpets in common areas were very worn.

“This is a great hotel for families with children. The location is great - right in the heart of Milwaukee with a bridge to the convention center. The Paradise Cove water park inside the hotel is very nice, very clean, and very well maintained, and has an ample lifeguard staff. The cafe has good food at reasonable prices. All in all, a nice little getaway spot!”

• Beautiful interior, lots of character.
• When I called to confirm the staff member was very rude.

“It's not very attractive from the outside, but the lobby is beautiful, if small. The rooms are very nice and comfortable. I would definitely stay there again. The only unfortunate aspect of my experience was the woman who I spoke with when I called to request a king size bed. She was rude and argumentative.”

• Room was so small could fit roll away in and walk.

“The old Marc Plaza is a good choice if attending any even in downtown Milwaukee. It is connected via Skyway to the Convention Center and is a short walk to the NBA Arena. The waterpark is pretty small but a nice transformation from the old pool.”
