• Great shuttle service.
• Not a grand hotel but very nice,a step above most.

“A good mixture of old
and new. There are not that many entertainment choices within walking distance but the shuttle makes up for that. Really nice not to have to worry about parking or having a couple drinks and driving”

• The atmosphere, very cool looking, also very friendly and helpful staff.
• I had 3 kids with me and we received a room with one queen bed. They had no cots either.

“I liked the fact that it was a smaller hotel, it's a little more personable. Nice atmosphere, and I liked the location area of the lounge. Very friendly staff, and was helpful too.”

• The decor inside was nice. The elevators were cool.
• No pool, no hot tub, no breakfast, no extras.

• Cute art deco thing going on, free parking.
• Tiny room, horrible location.

“I stay at a lot of upscale boutique hotels. I'd rate this one on the lower end. It really isn't a luxury hotel. The lobby is plain. My room was tiny (there wasn't even a closet or a wardrobe to hang my suit). The staff is friendly but inexperienced.”

• Far below 4-star quality; very small bathroom; K-Mart linens - thin, ugly comforter, tear in sheets.

• Comfortable atmosphere.
• Took a while to figure out that each room has a master electric switch for lights.

“Very clean and comfortable hotel. Every member of the hotel staff that we had contact with was friendly and helpful. The hotel offers a complimentary shuttle service that will drop off and pick up at local downtown attractions. This was a plus for our visit. Room service was prompt and very affordable.”

“The hotel was clean and what we expected. The staff was friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The area of the hotel may be a little better suited to business travelers and not as much for leisure travelers but they do operate a once an hour shuttle. I would stay there again.”

• Extremely attentive, accommodating staff; renovated art deco decor is fabulous and spacious rooms.
• No shelf /wastebasket in bathroom; my bed was uncomfortable, but my daughter was comfortable.

“My daughter and I stayed at the Ambassador during a Marquette campus visit. I was wowed by the decor and our spacious room. The entire staff was friendly and accommodating. The shuttle driver was available at a moment's notice; the desk staff was helpful with our numerous inquiries; our breakfast in the restaurant was tasty and healthy.”

• Front desk staff was very helpful.
• The cleaning staff were loud and not very friendly.

“Stayed in a King room which was very spacious and comfortable. The front desk staff had made an error and sent us to a room that was occupied but he was apologetic and assisted us with a new room. I also enjoyed to bar in the lower level.”

• Attractive, historical and friendly people.
• Thin walls, cramped bathroom, and recently painted closet.

“My hand came away from the closet with paint on. Luckily none touched the clothes I was going to put in. Adjacent to our room was some kind of business room and if I had wanted, I could have listened to each word. The bathroom door rubbed against the toilet as it opened and closed. Very annoying. But it was a lovely old hotel; everyone we dealt with in person was nice.”

“Once inside, the hotel was quite good. Room was very clean and modern. Level of amenities was good. Double room was spacious. Lobby had some charm but exterior wasn't attractive at all.”

• Restaurant had a great brunch.
• False fire alarm/evacuation both nights we were there.

“Overall this is a nice place but not what I consider walking distance to downtown. Both nights we were there the fire alarm sounded (at 3:00am and 11:00pm) forcing evacuations into a cold night.”

• The shuttle service was excellent.

“Hotel is clean, rooms are nice and well appointed. The location is about a 20 minute walk from downtown. The shuttle service provided to make up for this more than offsets and the drivers go above and beyond the call of duty.”

• In bad part of town, shuttle began too late, room exceedingly small.

“Redone old hotel in bad part of town. Nice interior, kind employees. Too far from Midwest Center. Shuttle doesn't even begin until 7:30 AM too late for first conferences. Only ran on 1/2 hour so couldn't arrange for return at 10 PM and didn't want to wait 1/2 hour in dark at 10:30 PM for shuttle so had to take own car and parking was $10.00 per day.”

• The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. It was by far the best hotel experience I had till date!
• I liked everything.

“As soon as we walked up to this hotel, the staff was so friendly! We were talking at the counter about dinner plans. The young man behind the counter gave us recommendations and even offered to have the shuttle take us! The shuttle dropped us off and picked us back up when we were done! The lady that drove the shuttle also gave us a list of fun things to do while we were in town. Everything she recommended was great. Beyond the amazing staff the room was great. The linens were very nice and the bed was very comfortable. I do not have a bad thing to say about this hotel!”

• It was a historic hotel with original fixtures
• It did not have a pool and I generally expect a pool from a 3.5 or 4 star hotel.

“The whirlpool was dirty and took forever to fill, the cable channels were very basic, the hotel did not have a pool, and the bed was uncomfortable. I expected to have a pool at the hotel, seeing as it was a 3.5 to 4 star, and it did not, so I upgraded to the whirlpool suite, and I was not impressed. It was in downtown Milwaukee, right by the rave, which is a fairly unsafe place to be at night. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Eat at the restaurant just east of the hotel, it is called Michaels, it is cheap and the food was fantastic for the type of restaurant.”

• Very clean and luxurious accommodations! Helpful and professional staff.

“Awesome experience. The location is right near the downtown and Marquette University. We used the airport connection for transportation to the hotel. The hotel staff was friendly and very helpful. All in all, we highly recommend this hotel!”

• The bar/retaurant.
• Housekeeping staff, front desk staff and dirty hotel.

“Asked the staff to clean the room at 11 instead or 10 am and she said no, told front desk and they said "we will take care of it". Return to find money missing from room, filthy (not sheets from prior night) on bed, nothing replenished or cleaned. Front desk did nothing about it.”

• It had everything we needed plus more. It was beautifully restored. Employees rock!
• Nothing wrong with hotel as far as we are concerned. Will go back again!

“It was restored perfectly.
The employees all acted liked owners (they took pride in their job and the hotel)!
The rooms were spacious.
The free DVD
rental at the front desk was a pleasant surprise.
Will go back again for sure!”

• Pristine accommodations. Located within walking distance to almost anything.

“A gem. Clean, beautiful rooms and Starbucks coffee downstairs. You can walk to the heart of downtown. The historic restoration was done to every last detail, with all the modern conveniences you want. (Beautiful furnishings, free wireless, etc.) A great place to put on meetings or just get away for a weekend. Clean. The workout room is extensive-down to free-weights. I travel over 60 nights a year, (four star hotels in general) and this is one of my new favorites. If you visit this city - don't even question it. This is the place. It will not disappoint.”

• Bed/bed coverings were extremely comfortable. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Nice bar in lobby. Overall, very classy.
• Room was somewhat small; felt a little cramped.

“This is a very elegant hotel with not too many luxuries. The bathroom amenities are a high quality brand. The bed was very comfortable. Fridge was convenient. Room service was available although we did not use it. Good location for downtown Milwaukee and Marquette University. Did not feel threatened or unsafe around the hotel. Very convenient free shuttle service to/from Miller Park and anywhere else we wanted to go. Free parking for hotel guests. We will definitely stay here again, especially for the price!”

• The bed (mattress, linens, pillows) were so comfortable. One of the best nights of sleep ever (and not just for a hotel)!
• The parking situation is atrocious and the location is a little misleading. Kind of sketchy looking area.

“I really liked the art-deco style of this hotel. It is very elegant and charming. I even liked the swinging elevator doors. The room was lovely with the most comfortable bed. My husband and I slept so soundly; we wish we could sleep there every night! The only complaints were the parking situation and location. We had to park quite away in overflow parking. And although it is close to downtown, it is not really within walking distance of any downtown attractions. The neighborhood appears somewhat dilapidated as well. All in all, though, we had a very nice experience at this hotel.”

• The neighborhood.

“The hotel was great, don't be fooled when you drive up. The neighborhood was scary and the parking lot was ugly but the inside the hotel was great. As we were driving up I said there's no way I'm even parking my car in this neighborhood let alone staying there but the parking lot is fenced and there are tons of cops around and you are just minutes away from downtown shopping so it's a great place to stay. The bed was comfy, the Aveda products were awesome, and the staff was nice. The hotel was beautiful on the inside. I'd stay there again and I'm really picky. There's even a Starbucks attached to the hotel if you are a coffee drinker.”

• Great style, beautiful art deco touches.
• Location was a bit out of the way, 8 dollar cab ride from downtown. Hotel has shuttle service till 12 am.

“The Ambassador hotel is a gem! The staff is great and the unique touches (towels folded in flowers, DVD players in the rooms) as well as the authentic art deco restoration makes a stay at this hotel worthwhile. While not the upper end of the 4 star class, we had a lot of fun here and would recommend it. The area west of the hotel is not too safe at night.”

• The art deco restoration throughout was beautiful.
• The ice maker on our floor did not work.

“Walking into the hotel was like stepping back in time. The lobby and restaurant areas are beautifully restored in art deco detailing from architecture to furniture that continues into the luxurious rooms. The staff is welcoming and friendly and downtown Milwaukee is a quick and easy drive or long and leisurely walk down Wisconsin Ave.”
