“Its well worth spending an extra few dollars to upgrade to a 2 star homestead over the 1 star extended Stay Inns operated by the same inn. The rooms were clean. Bring an extra blanket during the winter because the bed linens are sparse.”

“Do you smoke? Well you do now! Dot stay at this hotel if you dont want to be kept up by your neighbors cigarette smoke. They do not separate the smoking and non smoking rooms and I suffered asthma attacks all night they are intermingled with each other (and I changed rooms and had the same problem). The hotel is not the cleanest at all and the hallways stink (carpets need shampooing terribly). Hotel service is also not the greatest. If you just need a roof over your head it will do.”

• The picture and information on-line is deceiving. There was no mention of smoking rooms.

• Full size fridge, microwave and range top made the stay great.
• There was a bad smell constantly out in the hall, and our non smoking room smelled of smoke.

“Excellent location, not too far from Chicago, great room setup. What is not to like? The front desk staff was friendly; the laundry room was clean as was our room. I'd stay here again.”

• This hotel offers almost a full kitchen which is great and very helpful to the average traveler.
• Guests in nearby rooms were cooking very smelly food which could be smelled throughout the hall and our room.

“The front desk staff was very friendly. Only bad things were the fact that someone was cooking very smelly food in one of the nearby rooms and you could smell it strongly in the hallway and eventually you could smell it in our room. Also, there was a fire extinguisher sitting in the middle of the hallway for the entire 3 nights we stayed there. Housekeeping did not clean the halls at all during our stay as the same trash was in the same place when we arrived and when we checked out.”

“This is a no-frills hotel. It was clean. The beds were comparatively low. There is no restaurant or snack area on site. The staff was friendly and accommodated our request for two adjacent (near-by) rooms, though they could not provide adjoining (connecting) rooms.”

• Evening desk help was short and a little unwelcoming. Unpleasant!

“Nonsmoking room smelled heavily of smoke. Especially by the bed. We think person next door was smoking. Made it very hard to sleep. Room was ok. When I tried to talk to front desk night of stay, could not find anyone. When I called a few min. Later I got an answer but man was very rude and unpleasant. At checkout, the desk help was better but didn't seem like they wanted to help. Not a very friendly hotel!”

• The hallway smelled funny.

“This hotel is in a great location. I imagine that the trip into the city might take a little longer on a week day but we made it in about 25 minutes on the weekend. The room was clean and comfortable. I would recommend this hotel and location to other friends visiting Chicago for leisure.”

• I like the full size refry, 2 eye burner stove and microwave.
• Tile bathtub walls.

“Closest extended stay west of downtown Chicago and in good location. Sea in hillside is beside a stinky landfill that is closing. Sea Westmont is 45min to 1hour from downtown Chicago in rush hour traffic. 30min from downtown Chicago none rush hour. Near malls and shops on hwy 22. Good.”

• It was very close to where we needed to be.
• The dishes in the cabinets were dirty; the room was less than desirable.

“The dishes in the cabinet were dirty (although it is policy to do your own dishes the least they could do is make sure they are clean for the next person), the curtains were uneven, the floors were dirty, and the room was just generally unclean.”

• My wife and I love the chitchatted in the room.
• We had to go to the front desk for clean towels.

“Homestead-Westmont is as always a wonderful place to stay. My wife and I love homestead above many of the deluxe 4 star hotels. If I could make one suggestion, it would be nice if the hotel would automatically bring up a full change of towels to the room each morning. We love the homestead-Westmont.”

• This hotel offers almost a full kitchen which is great and very helpful to the average traveler.
• This hotel does not offer 2 queen beds per room so travel with a friend is inconvenient.

“He also wanted the card I paid with, but insisted that the card I had wasn't the right one, even though I had my info clearly handy. The confusion was eventually corrected, but was a problem after a 3 hour drive. The kitchen in the room certainly was a treat to have, especially the microwave. I usually travel with a friend and only offering one bed per room could have been a problem, but this trip was solo.”

• Smoking room (no choice offered); took 30 minutes to get someone to come to the desk for late-night check-in!

“Everything was fine with the room, except for the fact we would have preferred non-smoking, and the room didn't smell pleasant because of smoking. Our main issue was that when we tried to check in after 1 a.m., there was no one at the desk and no one would answer the phone provided for this purpose. My husband finally had to call a non-emergency number for the police and get them to call someone to check us in. We waited about 30 minutes, in the wee hours of the morning, with a tired child and infant in the car. ”

• Non Helpful staff with broken fire alarm system - all night alarms.

“This was the worst hotel stay of my life. The fire alarms went off several times and I understand I am not going to be charged for this stay. In addition, the staff was concerned we were not out by 11 am though the alarms made packing and sleeping difficult. We were gone at 11:20 am and were not charged.”

• The staff did not know the area very well. Not very willing to help.
