“First room I checked in the toilet was broken and couldn't be repaired. I was switched rooms, but the room was not too clean. The dishes were old and dirty. The knobs on the heater/AC were torn off and could not be adjust. No vent cover. By this time I didn't feel like moving rooms again and the temp. Was 'ok'. So I gutted it out for the night. As I was not in the room much. I told the front desk when I checked out and was told a manger would contact me about my stay. No one contacted me.”

• The room was dirty. It smelled of mildew in the bathroom. The kitchen utensils had not been washed.

“I would not be likely to stay at this hotel again. For a budget hotel, it was just sub-par. It would have been okay if the room had been clean and if the bathroom did not smell of mildew. I was told that for the length of my stay, someone would clean the room at least once that week. No one ever cleaned the room. The kitchen utensils were all dirty.”

• Nice from outside.
• Very dirty. Roaches everywhere and spider webs around air condition system. Edges of carpet dirty not vacuumed and also under furniture dusty and dirty.

“Disgusting! Spider webs everywhere. Saw 7 roaches. Beds were uncomfortable and poorly done. I found a used condom pack behind the side table. They do not clean the rooms well. Dirty and filthy.”

• Lousy bed, cheap design, had trouble with confirmation.

“Could have slept on the floor. Might have been softer, room was small, kitchen and utensils were filthy. Hair was on the bath counter and in the tub; mold was on the shower curtain. I was very displeased with this room/hotel. I stayed at holiday inn express (which was about 1.5 miles west of this hotel) and they were a much better hotel.”

• We love to stay here because the staff is great and the rooms are very nice.
• They need to serve bagels and coffee for breakfast like other hotels nearby.

“We love staying here. However, this time I was very dismayed. We stay here during the week as my husband works here during the week and we stay at our house in western Illinois on the weekends and time off. This past weekend he had to stay and work so we extended our stay here through 8 nights. Halfway thru our stay, my husband and I both got sick, but he was worse and ended up in the hospital with failing kidneys in intensive care. I requested housekeeping change the sheets on Monday, Sept 3, after we had been here four nights, as my husband soiled the sheets and towels over the weekend. I stayed through the 7th, and asked every night for housekeeping because they didn't make it to our room that day, for every day that week. No service was ever provided. Every day I babysat my grandkids, every evening I rushed to the hospital to stay with my husband, and then ran home to get some sleep to start over the next day. Every night I came back to a dirty room with soiled sheets and towels. It was very depressing and could have been a great help to me to come back to a clean room, even though I would be staying there without my husband, who was in the hospital. This is the worst service I have ever received at the chain of Extended Stay/Homestead Suites, and was such a little thing to fix. No one ever apologized, and everyone said it would be corrected the next day. I was sick, overtired, and stressed out all week, and would have really appreciated this one thing.”

• It was quaint and clean. I really liked the appearance.
• It was noisy. I could hear everything from people to the hwy.

• The manager and a couple of the employees were wonderful.
• The front desk person mike was a big problem when I was trying to check-in I was very displeased with him!

“The hotel was nice and clean but the front desk help mike was very nasty and unpleasant. Not with just but some of my other family members. We had rented approximately 8-10 rooms in the homestead and I know of mike being very nasty with at least two other family members, and we were there for a family reunion, from several different states.”

• It's close to a whole slew of Restaurants.
• The toilet was busted and every time you flushed a whole mess ran on the floor. They finally fixed it.

“I'd stay there again. It's with in walking distance to the brew pub, Benihanna's, and Magnums Steak House. All which are good. The hotel is decent not to old or ran down. I usually stay at this place when in Chicago area.”

• They gave me an upgrade, and location was great. good sized rooms.
• The bed was terrible and there were some stains on bedding.

“My youngest son graduated from the unites states Navy corp. school on Friday and he wanted his 2 older brothers from Michigan to see him before he leaves for san Diego tomorrow. I booked 2 rooms for them last weekend. They didn't care if it had a pool because they wanted to hang around the house with their brother. My 2 sons arrived Saturday and went to the hotel. They both have 3 young children and needed 2 beds. All the dishes in the cabinets were dirty, glasses stuck to the shelves; the place was a total pig sty. The walls were even noticeably soiled. ”

“This is the hotel I have stayed before I leave this country, so it is probably my last review for a while. Overall, the Homestead chain is not bad, yeah it is not as good as Residence Inn, but for the price it is a good deal. The room is in par with Comfort Inn, but it has a kitchen so you can save on dining in a restaurant. I strongly suggest you buy some one time use plates and forks at a grocery store if you plan to eat in your room. The dishes are very dirty, I really mean dirty, and there is no detergent, but anyway I would not use them at all, pots are ok though. Good location, hard to get on I-88 though, pretty confusing for a first timer since it is a toll road. But other than the highway, the location is very good, walking distance to tons of restraints, couple pubs, a full scale shopping mall and even an am theater. A car would be a real plus. Room is ok, refry. Very loud, well, you sleep pretty close to it. Other than this, it is a nice 2 star hotel. ”

• Bed mattresses were very poor. I felt the springs the mattress was so thin. Chair was dusty

“The hotel was worth the 32.00 a day that I paid but no more. This comment does not apply to all Extended Hotels because I stay in many of them through out the US but at this particular one the owners seem not to care about providing comfort to their guest. I've stayed at this same hotel several times prior and they still offer the same crappy mattresses and dusty chairs and cakes of dust behind the bed and against the wall. It kills my allergies.”

• Large hole in bathroom wall (where doorknob hit it when opened) and smoking room made this stay disappointing.

• It is always clean, love having the refrigerator, fast check-in.
• Got 5 am wake up calls I did not order both nights, even after telling them not to after the first time. Only get one day of coffee when you stay two.

“I have stayed here many times, and like staying here. I'm actually very pleased when I see it come up as the place I'm staying. However, I am always very annoyed when I stay for two nights, and I only get enough coffee in my room for the first morning. I asked for it this time, and got attitude from the desk clerk about how they only do housekeeping every other day although she did eventually leave some for me for the second morning. Also, both days I got 5 am wakeup calls I didn't order. When I called the front desk, they were not very apologetic. Before the second night I asked them to make sure it didn't happen again, and it did.”

• Room had funny smell (air freshener in AC unit??), bed was moderately comfortable.

“There is a big difference between a 2.5 and 2 star hotel. This falls at the bottom of the 2 star rating in terms of comfort However, it does have things that other hotels do not: kitchen with pots/pans/real frig, etc. If you are just going for a night or two this place may not be totally what you want/expect. However, if you are going for a longer stay this place could be made more "home" than others. Note that they don't clean your room except for once a week. For a long stay that is sometimes nice, but be prepared for that.”

“Cheap price but no breakfast and Internet costs $5 to use. The King Sized bed was another $10 to upgrade. At other locations I've stayed this has all come with the room. The room was dirty and I found ants on the night stand right by my bed and in the bathroom. I wasn't too impressed.”

• Quiet and had basic amenities in the room to make it feel like home.
• There was a snow storm and the hotel could not handle the clean up as quickly as one would have expected.

“The hotel is suitably located with a lot of different restaurants around for your choice. With a self-contain setting, you could prepare your food or buy much and store in the refrigerator and warm it up whenever you wanted it. It is most ideal for a couple or family and I highly recommend it to vacation seekers.”

• Cost to upgrade for 2 beds too much mother and son travelers.

“Nowhere does it allow to describe the need for two beds for two adults mother and son traveling for a medical school interview. I went to save $ but did not want to pay for the upgrade for that hotel.”
