• Atrium view.
• Front desk wasn't friendly when I checked in.

“The hotel is a nice hotel. The phone hadn't been cleaned off since who knows when, there was lots of dust around lamps and nightstand, toilet water pressure was very low and linen had an odor.”

• I liked the coffee available with coffee mate creamer machines.
• The pool wasn't working.

“The room was clean and average sized. The check-in took approximately 15-20 minutes. After driving all day and wanting to get into bed ASAP, that was annoying. We weren't told at check-in or otherwise that the pool was down for maintenance. It's in the middle of an atrium lobby so you have to walk through the front desk and atrium dining area to use it and we were irritated to find out (after traipsing through these public areas in swim wear and a robe) that the pool was unusable due to routine maintenance”

• The location for my business was excellent and it was clean.

• It was close to University of Illinois, making it convenient to visit the campus.
• The room was not that great and the mattress was hard and old. The sheet kept coming off of the mattress and there was no mattress cover.

“This is not a 3 star hotel! You are better off staying at the Holiday Inn Express, it is right across the street from the Holiday Inn, it's cleaner and newer and they offer a complimentary breakfast.”

• The facilities are antiquated and poorly built.

“One night the ancient AC unit buzzed and roared and I got 2 hours sleep. They fixed it the next day. The walls are paper thin here. It's as if they were in the room with me. Overall, the staff was very nice, but the cheap construction of this site guarantees I will never, ever stay here again. At best, the Urbana Holiday Inn is a 1 to 1.5-star property. Oh, and adding insult to injury, their rates were among the highest. I've spent far less on far better hotels. Please consider downgrading them.”

• Good location to where I needed to be; free coffee.
• Very cheap motel-ish decor and amenities; very, very noisy.

“This was as hotel from the old school, with thin plastic cups in the bathroom and cheap sheets on the bed. It was only missing the paper ribbon showing the sanitized toilet. Worse, our room faced the lobby and public spaces and was thus quite loud.”

• They changed our room promptly when we found out our toilet was not working.
• Having to move rooms late in the evening because our toilet didn't work.

“We were not impressed with the decor of the room. The mattress was uncomfortable and the pillows on the king size bed were quite small. There were also no extra pillows in the room and the extra blanket was much worn, didn't appear to be clean. We were put in a king suite that had two air conditioners but only one worked. The large Jacuzzi tub had brown stains all around the jets in the tub and for some reason it did not have a shower curtain, I didn't like that.”

• Bed was comfortable.
• The toilets would not flush unless you held the handle down. The sauna was broken and there was a leak in the whirlpool.

“Very nice. Staff very friendly. Clean rooms. If you want maid service before 4pm for a stay over you better request it because they are really slow.”

“It was satisfactory. Knowing the quality of the national chain hotels in the same area that were 2-star and 2.5 star rated, I think we would have had nicer rooms & pool at one of those. A surprising 3-star rating, but it certainly served our purposes for an overnight stop on vacation to break up the drive. The hotel staff was very friendly which is always appreciated.”

• The staff was all very helpful and friendly. We loved the use of the computer room. The pool was a great temperature.
• The hotel did not tell us there was a limited time to get breakfast and then they could not get any food for an hour (between breakfast and lunch).

“The room was a bit smaller than I was expecting. We thought we were in upgraded or newer rooms but could not see how this was possible. The service staff was doing maintenance in the hallways in the morning. The front staff, people at the bar, and staff at restaurant were great!”

• Good location and facility for meeting family members coming into town for wedding.
• Thought there was a sun deck to the outside from the pool.

“We wanted a conveniently located hotel where family members coming into town for a wedding could meet and give the children a chance to unwind before attending the ceremony later that day. This fit the bill perfectly.”

“It seems that this hotel is in need of a renovation. Worn and tired looking. Staff needs training on how to address concerns of clients. When I complained of a gang of 20+ kids running the halls and elevators, I was met at the front desk with a shrug of the shoulders, and a commit about not being able to do anything.”

“The hotel itself was nice, but full of soccer teams and bands that ran around the halls and made a lot of noise. We were near the pool so it was impossible to sleep.”

• We were able to check in before 3:00 pm that was convenient.
• The water was luke warm, never got hot, clock did not work, noise level horrible, didn't seem to have any soundproofing.

“The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The receptionist who checked us in and out was not rude but not friendly. The front desk person that night was friendly and apologetic when we had to call two times to request assistance for the partying going on the floor we were staying on.”

• Restaurant and attractive bar in lobby.
• Average to below average room; no free breakfast.

“I assume the three star rating were due to the onsite restaurant and bar. Otherwise, this would have been a 2 or 2.5 star hotel. There was nothing wrong with it, but there wasn't anything special either.”

• The staff was very accommodating when my husband got sick and I asked for a late check out.
• The bed was very uncomfortable.

“The room was okay. We ate breakfast at the restaurant only once, and the food was good, reasonably priced, and the waitress was great. My husband became very sick while we were there, and the reception staff did not hesitate to let us have a late check out so he could be sure he was able to travel.”

• Location off the highway and proximity to campus.
• Room not cleaned completely.

“I was disappointed that the pool area was unavailable until 9am and was not open late on a weekend past 10 pm. My room in particular was not cleaned completely dirty towel behind door, not bath mat, cups for coffee not restocked. I would stay again, but I will definitely let the hotel know about the problems.”

• It was way overpriced for how chintzy it was.

“Everything about this hotel was chintzy. I had wanted to go swimming, but didn't because the hotel generally felt kind of slimy. When I was assigned to my room, I found a cleaning person still inside.”

“We didn't like that they said they were just getting around to checking the window air conditioning units, even though it was May in Illinois and there had been quite a few hot days already. Lampshades in the room were bent and discolored. They didn't pay enough attention to housekeeping details.”
