• Carpeted floor was now cleaned (sticky, even).

• Bed was comfortable, room was very clean and the continental breakfast was very good.
• There were only shears on the windows; full curtains would have been more private/darker.

“La Quinta is a 15-20 minute drive from Campus. A reasonable option for those visiting the U of I. The free Wi-Fi was a nice bonus.”

• Good location, pool appeared nice though weather did not allow us to use it.
• Got a smoking room (did not want one) and the smell was awful!

“Generally clean. Do not like bedspreads as I assume they do not get changed between guests. Bathroom very small. Staff friendly. Breakfast fair. The main problem was getting a smoking room which we have never gotten before. It was awful. All of our belongings smelled like smoke and the smell was carried into our car as well.”

• We got everything that we ask for.
• The soda machines on the floors were empty.

“We asked for a non-smoking room and we got it. Breakfast was just as described. The staffs were down home kind of people. Even though the hotel was full of utility lineman, it was clean and quiet. Access to rooms was ok. Pool was nice for the kids, and hot chocolate was available at any time of the day.”

• I found all the facilities required for a small family with children to stay for a week.
• Corridors are too narrow. Small kitchen in the suites could have added value.

• Someone with mud on their shoes made a mess out of the F side entrance.

“We were satisfied with this motel. Initially we were shocked at the mud on the steps going upstairs to our room. However, the room was OK.”

• The manager compensated us adequately for the plugged toilet and abrupt shift to a new room.

“The manager and day time clerk are responsive to problems encountered by the guests. The hotel needs an elevator and personnel to respond to evening maintenance problems.”

• Excellent location for shopping and dining. Clean room.
• One bed was broken. Realized after we got in. Had to change beds.

“The room was very clean. In room coffee maker was a plus. Excellent free breakfast and the staff could not have been nicer. We plan to stay there again. There was a small table and 2 chairs in the room that was conveniently located inside the door for our 2 friends to visit. Great location, good experience all around.”

• Nice room with wifi.
• Very dry air, had to turn on the shower to humidify the room.

“The hotel was pretty nice, good location near the interstate and mall. The room was nice, with a fairly comfortable bed. There were no extra pillows in the closet, and the front desk only had one left, although the hotel looked empty. Also, the air in the room was very dry; in fact I ended up turning off the heat and using the shower to heat and humidify the room three times during the night.”

• Very comfortable beds, for this grade of hotel.
• Public areas accumulated litter, they need to be a bit more attentive.

“Good location, everything I expect of a hotel. Free internet is great--more important than TV. Hairdryer, ironing board, iron, TV, shampoo, soaps, towels, spacious room, closet with doors, daily housekeeping service. Great stay.”

• Free internet worked well, more important than TV!
• Grounds not kept up well, old beer bottles sitting outside rear exit for over 4 days!

“The bedding was very comfortable, and the hotel provided the amenities expected of a 2* property: hair dryer, internet, ironing board/iron, coffeemaker, soaps and shampoo, absorbent toweling. The free continental breakfast was a bonus. Parking is free, as is true at all hotels in this area. The hotel is surrounded by good eating places, for breakfast/lunch/dinner, and convenient to a mall and the interstate. Staff was friendly and housekeeping was efficient. If I could stay here every time I visited town, I'd be happy indeed!”

• Should reveal phone costs.

“At the rate, this motel was a deal. The place was reasonably clean, staff reasonably helpful, services adequate. Change linens every 3 days to conserve water, but will change daily if requested. Very happy with the hotel.”

• It is very nice and clean.
• There was a problem with my air conditioning. It never got resolved.

“We had problems with the AC. When we reported it, they gave suggestions. they came to our room and at that time, the suggestions appeared to be working. It got really hot in the night, causing me personally to be quite uncomfortable. I wasn't going to wake up my three year-old, however, to move to another room. I didn't sleep much at all. They have a satisfaction guarantee, but there was nothing they could do since we'd pre-paid. This is a huge problem. ”

• Baker's Square restaurant right across the parking lot. We walked to it.
• Ice machine too far away from our room.

“We had to stay overnight for a trip to the hospital the next morning. Our stay was nice. The movies on the TV were too expensive for our tastes. We did enjoy our trip to the pool and the tea that they had was very good.”

• Staff was pleasant, breakfast was nice.
• It was not the most quiet place, parking was scarce.

“WE had a good stay at this property, the rooms are not too sound proof and we could hear a lot of voices in the hallways at later/earlier hours. The staff seemed willing to please, the breakfast was nice, several items to chose from. The room was good size, but the decor could have been a little nicer. Overall it was good, I would use this prop. again.”

“The staff was generally courteous, except Ryan at the front desk was having a bad day. The continental breakfast was marginal (I don't like food that comes out of plastic wrappers, but that's not the hotel's fault). Overall, a good place to stay for the price.”

• No shuttle service or offer to facilitate MTD.

“Great hotel, very clean and well maintained. Close to some very nice restaurants. Need to arrange transportation before arriving if required otherwise you will pay for a very expensive taxi. The Champaign/Urbana MTD does not know the city very well i.e.; they didn't know where Frasca Airport was at all.”

• Convenient location near highway, restaurants nearby.
• Loud, charged $15 to "upgrade" to a king sized bed.

“I was very disappointed to have to pay $15 to get a king sized bed instead of two double beds. I've stayed at many hotels and never had to pay for a king room before.”

• The hotel was very clean, well maintained, very nice complimentary breakfast.
• More seating space for the breakfast would have been nice but it probably is not an option based on the building design.

“I would stay here again. It was conveniently located to the places in that city that I needed to go to while in town. It was well maintained, clean, quiet, with friendly people working the front desk.”

• Gym not on site, halls reeked of smoke.

“Overall it was a great value. I was disappointed that the gym was not only off site, but quite a distance from the hotel. The hallways smelled of stale smoke but the room was clean and comfortable. The desk clerk was very helpful and the breakfast area was well stocked and clean.”

• Surprisingly comfortable beds, no fancy sheets, but the mattress was supportive and cozy.
• Odd smell in hallway, but not overly pungent.

“Spacious room, comfortable bed, clean bathroom. Standard soap and shampoo provided. Continental breakfast included Danishes, bagels, muffins, cereals, toast, juices, coffee, milk. Overall, this was one of the better La Quinta's I've been to.”

• The noisy bratty kids at breakfast.

“I did not like people making noise in the hallway at 6 in the morning, and a lady talking on her cell phone in the hallway right near our room early in the morning as well. I realize the motel cannot control this, but those bratty kid sat breakfast almost made me lose it completely!”

“Although location wasn't ideal for our venue, it was centrally located, and only 10-12 minutes from our destination. Our daughters were disappointed the pool was outside, but at least there was a mall nearby. Good continental breakfast. Overall, a good experience.”

• Surprisingly better than I expected - well earns the rating.
• Room was pretty average hotel room but that was a reason why I enjoyed it.

“The hotel was nicer, larger, cleaner than expected, staff was friendly and courteous, the desk staff took care of my check-in and noted. Room is every bit as nice as what I expect when I travel for business and get to make reservations in higher rated hotels.”

• Room was cheerful and comfortable, sink was outside the bathroom, smelled clean and fresh.
• Would like waffles on the continental breakfast bar.

“The room was large enough for all of us 2 adults, three kids. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Christmas decor was up. We enjoyed the breakfast bar, which had a great variety of foods. Only complaint is no indoor pool and no waffles on the breakfast bar. This was a very convenient location right off interstate 74 and lots of chain restaurants around though none were open late on a weeknight. We would definitely stay there again.”
